To prepare coatings by electron-beam sputtering, targets have been designed and synthesized by a sol-gel method, based on SiO2 and TiO2 materials. The optimum basic compounds for the synthesis of stable silica sol and titanium are reported. Spectroscopic studies have been conducted for the coatings aiming at the characterization in terms of optical characteristics, such as refractive index, reflectance, transmission and absorption coefficients. The morphology of the layers was investigated by atomic force (AFM) and scanning electron (SEM) microscopies.

AbstractIn the study Li4/3Ti5/3O4 thin films were deposited on Pt substrates by sol-gel method using a spin coator. The coated films are dried at 310-360 °C, and then annealed at 500-800 °C for 30min. The prepared films were characterized by X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscope and scanning electron microscope. The results indicated that the prepared film belonged to a spinel structure and had a uniform morphology. Electrochemical properties of the prepared electrode films were evaluated by using a discharge and charge test. From these results, it can be showed that the thin film electrode annealed at 700 °C exhibited good crystallinity, smooth surface morphology, high capacity, and good rechargeability. Therefore, This film was therefore suitable for use as an anode for thin-film microbatteries.

Here a simple method was developed to fabricate hydrophilic Polyethersulphone film via a sol-gel process. The correspondent hydrophilicity was evaluated by infrared spectral analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the contact angle measurement, atomic force microscope and scanning electron microscope analysis, respectively. Both FTIR and XPS analysis indicated that the film surfaces have a relatively dense sol layer, which favors to become hydrophilic. AFM analysis demonstrated that the higher hydrophilicity was mainly attributed to the surface roughness, while SEM images show that the micro/nanometer crater-like protrusions appears on the film surfaces, whereas the spongy structures & the finger-like structures appear in cortex and intermediate layer respectively. This leads to the hydrophilic film forming after film being treated by sol-gel method.

Lead titanate thin films were successfully prepared using a simple sol-gel method. In the present study extra Pb excess was not taken into consideration in such a way that the ratio of Pb:Ti is 1:1. Different molar concentration (0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5) involved in this study and it was found that the solutions increased in acidic level by the increment of molar concentration that being measured by pH and conductivity meter (JENWAY-3540). It also indicated that the solutions were electrically resistive at low concentration which might due to the existence of lead and oxygen ionic bonding. The solutions were then deposited onto cleaned glass substrate by spin coating technique indeed to have better thin film homogeneity at room temperature. The prepared thin films were characterized on electrical property considering the resistivity measured by solar simulator (BUKOH KEIKI EP-2000). After that structural and physical property of thin films were observed by atomic force microscopy (Park System, XE-100).

This paper describes microstructure characteristics of MgAl2O4 thin films were deposited by sol-gel method with various annealing temperatures. Particular attention will be paid to the effects of an annealing treatment in air ambient on the physical properties. The annealed films were characterized using X-ray diffraction. The surface morphologies of annealed film were examined by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The dependence of the dielectric properties and microstructure characteristics on annealing temperature was also investigated.

Titanium Dioxide, TiO2 is one of the potential semiconductor materials. TiO2 has much application such as for pigments, oxygen sensors, and photocatalyst. Recently, the researcher study on the other application and revealed that this material has a great potential to be use in nanocoating area. The objective of this paper is to produce TiO2 nanostructured prepared by sol-gel method. Sol-gel was carried out using tetra (IV) isopropoxide (TTIP), absolute ethanol, Acetic Acid Glacial (GAA), Triton-X-100 and deionized water and all the solution was mixing by continuous stirring and heating. After finished prepare the sol-gel, solution will be spin coated onto glass substrate and annealed with different temperature for 2 hours. The particles were analyzed using Raman Spectroscopy to observe the crystallographic phase, and the morphology was evaluated through Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). As a result, TiO2 that annealed at 450°C shows the better nanostructured compared to other annealing temperature. Sulphamethaxazole is antibiotic used to treat several types of bacterial infections and gives double effect when used with trimethoprim by 1 to 5 of sulphamethaxazole. It has a broad spectrum effect on the positive and negative bacteria of Gram and fungi. The objective of this research is to convert sulfamethasazole to nano sulfamethasazole by Sol-gel method by using additive material like acetic acid, distilled water and ethanol with temperature 80°C and probe sonicator machine as catalyst and hydrolysis factor. Nano sulphamethoxazole solution analyzed by atomic force microscope (AFM) was show average of nano particles at size (50±10) nm. Scanned by TEM and SEM shows nano particles as a band of hollow tubes with a diameter less than 100 nm., beside the EDS pattern show high peaks of sodium, carbon and oxygen along with some other constituents. The antibacterial activity of nano solution shows respectable inhibition activity compared to slandered solution.
