The negative effect of the conventional laser bonding caused by high temperature has been analyzed in the Si-glass bonding process. A new method which is the combination of chip surface activated pre-bonding and laser bonding has been proposed. The method has been used for Micro Electro Mechanical System package experiment. The process is: firstly, a hydrophilic surface was formed by using a special chemical method. Secondly, Si and glass were pre-bonded at room temperature. Finally, the laser with the wavelength of 1.070 μm, spot diameter of 480 μm, power of 70 W was local heated by the laser. This method achieves low-temperature bonding without external press. And the tensile test also shows that the strength of sample bonding reaches 2.8 MPa~3.2 MPa. So it not only ensures the quality of MEMS chip, but also reduces the cost of the package.

ABSTRACTGaAs Schottky barrier diodes remain a workhorse technology for submillimeter-wave applications including radio astronomy, chemical spectroscopy, atmospheric studies, plasma diagnostics and compact range radar. This is because of the inherent speed of these devices and their ability to operate at room temperature. Although planar (flip-chip and beam-lead) diodes are replacing whisker contacted diodes throughout this frequency range, the handling and placement of such small GaAs chips limits performance and greatly increases component costs. Through the use of a novel wafer bonding process we have fabricated and tested submillimeter-wave components where the GaAs diode is integrated on a quartz substrate along with other circuit elements such as filters, probes and bias lines. This not only eliminates the cost of handling microscopically small chips, but also improves circuit performance. This is because the parasitic capacitance is reduced by the elimination of the GaAs substrate and the electrical embedding impedance seen by the diodes is more precisely controlled. Our wafer bonding process has been demonstrated through the fabrication and testing of a fundamental mixer at 585 GHz (Tmix < 1200K) and a 380 GHz subharmonically pumped mixer (Tmix < 1000K). This paper reviews the wafer bonding process and discusses how it can be used to greatly improve the performance and manufacturability of submillimeter-wave components.

Concentration of juveniles of marine fishes in nurseries may act as a bottleneck during the life cycle, where quantity and quality of nurseries determine population size. Macroalgal blooms have become a common phenomenon in eutrophic shallow waters worldwide, and matforming algae may now cover many essential nursery habitats. In this investigation, the aim was to assess the quantitative effect of algal mats on the recruitment of plaice (Pleuronectes platessa) from nurseries in the Swedish Skagerrak archipelago. A model was constructed using data on nursery size, settling density, and mortality of plaice combined with data on algal distribution. Recruitment of 0-group plaice from nurseries could be reduced by 30%–40% due to algae. The largest negative effect occurred during high settlement, reducing the important influence of strong year classes on stock size. The model predicted a reduction of juveniles due to algae of 45–46 × 106 individuals at high settlement. This amounts to 68% of the output at medium settlement and equals the amount of plaice produced during 5 years of low settlement. Up to 75% of the total reduction could occur in one quarter of the study area. With limiting resources, management actions should not be generally applied but rather be concentrated to optimize the cost-benefit of measures taken.

Electrically conductive adhesives (ECAs) are one of the low temperature bonding materials. It can be used to replace toxic Sn-Pb solder. The key issue for the application of ECAs is how to improve their electrical properties. In the present study, we develop an effective method to promote the electrical properties of ECAs by addition of polyaniline (PANI) nanoparticles. PANIs were synthesized via a facile one-step chemical oxidative polymerization method. After adding 0.5 wt% PANI nanoparticles, the conductivity of ECAs increased dramatically by an order of magnitude. The bulk resistivity of 8.8 × 10−5 Ω·cm is achieved for 65 wt% silver fillers with 0.5 wt% PANIs loaded ECAs. Besides, this improvement has no negative effect on the shear strength and the aging life of ECAs. Moreover, the use of PANIs not only lowers the percolation threshold of ECAs, but also reduces the cost and improves the bonding reliability. Finally, PANIs enhanced ECAs patterns were successfully printed by a stencil printing method, which proved their potential applications in replacing conventional solder pastes and printing functional circuits.

Quality outcomes from vocational education and training (VET) are fundamental to ensuring a skilled workforce and supporting a productive economy. The quality of vocational training from the demand’s perspective is defined as meeting the customer specification, needs or requirements. Using the method of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Multiple Regression Analysis to get the analytical results of 275 respondents as graduates of University of Transport and Communication, University of Transport Technology (the two universities training on transportation in the North of Vietnam), the results show that factors are measured by the observed variables in the study that ensure reliability and relevance. The descriptive statistics result of vocational training quality is 3.28, while all independent variables are at average level (between 3.1 to 3.48) with the highest value related to the quality of the teacher and the lowest are facilities and training programs and management capacity of university. However, the regression results show that the qualification of the teacher, material facilities and training program, management capacity and job opportunities at the training school do not affect the quality of the training while “Learners-NH” have a great positive effect and the labor market information has a negative effect on the training quality of the school significantly. Base on those data, some policy recommendations have been given out in order to improve the training quality of transport technology universities in the north of Vietnam in particular and the vocational training quality of Vietnam in general.

Sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) is a feather palm native to tropical Asia. In Vietnam, it is named Búng Báng or Đoác and grown only on the highlands in the central or northern part of Vietnam. It is utilized for many purposes, especially for Ta Vat wine production - a characteristic and unique product of Co Tu ethnic minority. However, because of the natural fermentation used in the production, the product quality is inconsistent. The purpose of this study was to examine a new procedure of using palm sap for making Ta Vat wine. Some characteristics of the sap, which was collected at Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province are determined, proving the potential of the sap for making wine product. The quality of sap changes quickly at room temperature. At low temperature (4 - 60C), the changes in sap quality are apparently slower. Examining some factors affecting its quality during the wine fermentation process, we determined the best parameters for the fermentation process as follows: inoculum size of 3% with cell density of about 1x108 cells/ml, the addition of the extract from the bark of Ceylon ironwood (Mesua ferrea L.) 4%. Keywords: Arenga pinnata, sap, Ceylon ironwood bark, Mesua ferrea L., wine fermentation.

The effect of presowing seed treatment on various concentrations of dicarboxylic (organic) acids on the sowing characteristics of spring barley has been studied. Seeds were treated with organic acids obtained by exposing cuttings to the radiation with a dose of 100 kGy and consequent hydrolysis, in concentrations: 1•10-7 %; 1•10-9; 1•10-11; 1•10-13 and 1•10-15 % on a laboratory rotary machine RVO-64 for one day before laying for germination. Distilled water was used for the control case. The rate of application of the working solution calculated as 10 liters / ton of seeds. Seeds were germinated in filter paper rolls in accordance with GOST 12038-84 requirements. The temperature was maintained at +24 ° C in the thermostat where the glasses with rolls were placed. For determination of germinative power and laboratory germination the sprouted seeds were evaluated after three and seven days, respectively. In laboratory experiments it was established that the treatment of barley seeds of varieties Zazersky 85, Nur and Vladimir with organic acids (OK) in different concentrations had both a stimulating and a negative effect. On the Zazersky 85 variety, in variants with acid concentrations of 1•10-9 and 1•10-11, an increase in germination energy (EP) by 2-4% and a significant decrease (by 3-4%) of laboratory germination (LV) of barley seeds were noted. On the Nur variety, the increase in EP was observed at 4% (concentration 1•10-11), LV and seed growth force (CPC) by 2-7% at a concentration of 1•10-7 and in the dose range 1•10-11 - 1•10-14 compared to the control values. On the grade of Vladimir, an increase in EP, LV, and CPC was found to increase by 1-6% at concentrations OK 1•10-7 and 1•10-13. It was shown that the treatment of seeds with acids led to an increase in the length of the germ in all studied varieties (by 3-9%) and dry biomass of 7-day-old seedlings - by 3-6%. Consequently, the treatment of seeds with a mixture of dicarboxylic acids has a stimulating effect on the sowing quality of spring barley.
