Based on field investigation and social-economical data, in combination with the 1992 and 2007 Landsat TM remote sensing images of Coastal Urban Belt in Liaoning, this paper analyzed the dynamic changes of landscape pattern at both class and landscape levels and their driving forces in the study area. From 1992 to 2007, the landscape pattern in the study area experienced a significant change. At class level, the area of farmland, forestland, wetland, grassland, and abandoned land decreased, while the area of residential area, salt pan, and water area increased. At landscape level, both total number of patches and patch density increased significantly, while the largest patch index decreased, and the complication of landscape shape intensified.

AbstractCancer occurs in a complex tissue environment, and its progression depends largely on the tumour microenvironment (TME). The TME has a highly complex and comprehensive system accompanied by dynamic changes and special biological characteristics, such as hypoxia, nutrient deficiency, inflammation, immunosuppression and cytokine production. In addition, a large number of cancer-associated biomolecules and signalling pathways are involved in the above bioprocesses. This paper reviews our understanding of the TME and describes its biological and molecular characterization in different stages of cancer development. Furthermore, we discuss in detail the intervention strategies for the critical points of the TME, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, natural products from traditional Chinese medicine, combined drug therapy, etc., providing a scientific basis for cancer therapy from the perspective of key molecular targets in the TME.

Regional groundwater exploitation is the foundation and basis for the groundwater resources administrative department to plan the rational utilization and protection of local groundwater resources. The dynamics characteristics and regularity of the local groundwater exploitation are studied in Tianjin from 1998 to 2009 by the methods of time-series analysis. The results show that it provides scientific basis for better understanding the present situation of groundwater exploitation objectively and planning the exploitation and utilization of groundwater resources reasonably.

The method of drying licorice is an important factor affecting the quality of the final product. To determine the best processing method of licorice postharvest, we investigated the interaction of increasing aridity between the endophytic microorganisms and the accumulation of metabolites. Samples from the roots of licorice growing along an aridity gradient during the natural drying process were collected, and the metabolic components, the content of the main active substances and the dynamic changes of the endophytic microbial community were assessed. The glycyrrhizic acid and liquiritin contents decreased slightly or remained flat during natural drying, whereas those of liquiritigenin and isoliquiritigenin increased slightly. Moreover, the Shannon index of endophytic microbial diversity of licorice was the highest in the fresh period and showed a downward trend during the drying process. When the licorice were fresh, Cladosporiaceae and Burkholderiaceae were the dominant family present, but after drying, Nectriaceae and Enterobacteriaceae were the dominant families. A similar trend was also found in which the differential metabolites of licorice were reduced during natural drying. Furthermore, correlation analysis between dominant families and differential metabolites showed that there was a correlation between the two. Therefore, fresh processing is an effective drying method to ensure the quality of licorice. This study revealed the relationship of endophytic microbiota and changes in the licorice metabolites during different stages of drying, which provided a scientific basis for the drying method of licorice.

In view of the serious problem of siltation rate in Waterway Engineering, feasibility of the scheme is studied from the perspective of sedimentation on Pussur River of Bangladesh in this paper. Based on the analysis of the tide, sediment and topography of the waterway and numerical simulation, the characteristics of the flow movement in the project reach, the influence of the dredging channel on the flow and the siltation were analyzed. With the excavation of channel, due to the influence of dynamic changes and elevation difference, the siltation of the channel is about 0.70–1.79m/a near Inner Bar area, and is more severely in the upper section near Chalna. The implementation of the preliminary regulating structure can increase the velocity and reduce the siltation of the local section. Yet the siltation of the upstream and downstream sections may be added due to changes of flow with the structure. The further scheme should be optimized from the angle of increasing the velocity in channel and reducing the influence to upstream and downstream. The feasibility results can provide scientific basis for the design and construction departments.

Mosquitoes are medically important arthropod vectors and harbor a great variety of viruses. The population density, species and virome of mosquitoes varies according to geography and climate. To investigate the dynamic changes in the species composition and diversity of mosquitoes and their viromes in Wuhan, China, a total of 2,345 adult mosquitoes collected from different habitats including an urban residential area, two hospitals, a scenic area, and a pig farm in a rural region from April to October 2020 were subjected to morphological identification, RT-qPCR and metagenomic sequencing. The results indicated that the dominant presence of Culex mosquitoes was observed in both urban regions (90.32%, 1538/1703) and the pig farm (54.98%, 353/642). Viromes of Culex showed dynamic changes during the collection time. Several viruses, such as Culex flavivirus, Alphamesonivirus 1, Hubei mosquito virus 2 and Hubei mosquito virus 4, had seasonal changes and unimodal increases or declines. Other viruses, such as Wuhan mosquito virus 6, Hubei virga-like virus 2 and Zhejiang mosquito virus 3, were stable in all collected Culex and should be potential members of "core viromes". This study improves the understanding of the dynamic composition of mosquitoes and the viromes they carry and provides useful information for informing mosquito control and mosquito-borne disease prevention strategies.
