To obtain new fine chemical and intermediate of functional polymer material, the acylation of acenaphthene with benzoyl chloride to 5-acetylacenaphthene catalyzed by silica-supported phosphotungstic heteropoly acid (PW/SiO2) was investigated. Pure 5-acetylacenaphthene was obtained and its structure was identified by GC/MS, FT-IR and 1H NMR spectra. The effects of experimental parameters on the catalytic acylation reaction and the possibility of reusability of PW/SiO2 catalyst were studied. Under optimun conditions, the yield and the selectivity of 5-acetylacenaphthene were up to 81.3 % and 93.6 %, respectively. PW/SiO2 shows well catalytic activity after running for 5 times. The experimental results indicate that PW/SiO2 is a recyclable and environmentally benign catalyst in the synthesis of 5-acetylacenaphthene.

A novel one-pot catalytic synthesis of 1-benzoylpyrene through acylation of pyrene with benzoyl chloride catalyzed by various Keggin type heteropoly acids (salts) was investigated. Pure 1-benzoylpyrene was obtained and the structure of 1-benzoylpyrene was identified by GC/MS, FT-IR and 1H NMR spectra. H3PW12O40 (PW) was found to be the most active catalyst in the acylation. The yield and the selectivity of 1-benzoylpyrene were up to 97.6 % and 100 %, respectively. The effects of experimental parameters on the catalytic acylation reaction and the recycling performance of PW catalyst were studied. PW catalyst shows well catalytic activity after running for 5 times. The facile product separation and the recycling performance of PW catalyst is expected to contribute to the development of clean and environmentally friendly strategy for the synthesis of 1-benzoylpyrene.

A low expense chloro-monomer, 1-(4'-chloro-1-benzoyl)-3-(4'-1-choro-benzene sulfonyl)-benzene(CBCBSB), was synthesized by the Friedel-Crafts reaction of m-chlorosu1fonyl benzoyl chloride with chlorobenzene. A novel poly (aryl ether sulfone ketone)s (PAESK) containing m-sulfonylbenzoyl linkages in the main chains were prepared by copolycondensation of CBCBSB with hydroquinone in N, N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc). The structure of PAESK was confirmed by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and characterized by XRD. thermogravimetry (TG) and Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) were carried out to demonstrate its good melt processability. The polymer exhibited the better solubility in chloroform, N-methyl-2-pyrrlidone(NMP), dimethylacetamide(DMAC), dimethylformamide (DMF) and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and excellent mechanical performance.

A kind of novel liquid crystalline monomer containing double photosensitive groups which were azo and chalcone groups was synthesized. The structures of the intermediates and the final monomer were confirmed by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectra. The thermal properties of monomer were measured by DSC and the liquid crystalline texture was measured by polarized optical microscopy. And the results indicated that the monomer showed nematic phase and liquid crystal temperature range was 150.8-186.5oC.

The heteropoly acid catalyst of H5PMo10V2O40 supported on SBA-15 mesoporous mole-cular sieve was prepared by an impregnation method and characterized by nitrogen physisorption, FT-IR,SEM, and used in catalytic synthesis of tributyl citrate. The results show that the heteropoly acid catalyst has fine dispersion characteristics, structural stability, high catalytic activity and better reusability.

Aim and Objective: This work presents the synthetic capability and the exploitation of 1,3-diphenyl- 1H-pyrazole-4-carboxladehyde 1 and 5-diphenyl pyrazolyl-2-pyrazoline analogue 8 to serve as excellent precursors for the synthesis of substituted indol-2,3-dione, trizolo[3,4-a]benzazoles, thiazolo[2,3- a]benzimidazole-3-one, substituted 2-pyrazoline and pyrazole-substituted-pyrazolines using various reagents.

Materials and Methods: Using chemicals from Aldrich, Fluka, or Merck, and pure solvents, we apply the synthetic procedures for the synthesis of novel heterocycles. The melting points of these compounds were determined using APP. Digital ST 15 melting point apparatus. SP3-100 spectrophotometer recorded FT-IR spectra (KBr) (cm-1). NMR spectra (δ, ppm) were recorded on 400 MHz AVANCE-III High-Performance FT-NMR Spectrometer BRUCKER (Switzerland) and some 1H NMR spectra were recorded on Varian EM-360L NMR Spectrophotometer (90 MHz) (USA) in CDCl3 or DMSO-d6 as a solvent. Elemental analyses were carried out at a Vario EL C, H, N, and S Analyzer. Bromine was determined using direct titration method after carius combustion.

Results: The structures of the compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and elemental analyses.

Conclusion: 1,3-Diphenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxladehyde 1 and 2-pyrazoline derivative 9 confirmed their importance in the synthetic organic chemistry. Depending on the formyl group of aldehyde 1 and active methylene of pyrazoline 8, we synthesized new series of heterocycles; indol-2,3-dione, trizolo[3,4-a]benzazole, thiazolo[2,3-a]benzimidazole-3-one and pyrazolyl-pyrazoline derivatives expecting their pharmacological applications. The targeted compounds were substantiated from its spectral data.

Poly (ethylene-1-octene) (POE) was functionalized to varying degrees with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) by melt grafting processes. Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR) and 1H NMR spectra confirmed that glycidyl methacrylate was successfully grafted onto the POE. When dicumyl peroxide(DCP)concentration was around 4‰ high graft degree was obtained. The data from GPC measure demonstrates that POE chains degraded during grafting process.
