The statistics about investment and operation situation of 36 urban sewage treatment plants and 72 country ones show that: ①Urban and country sewage treatment plants are mainly small-scale ones, using oxidation ditch, A2/O, SBR and its variants process. ②Operation loading rates of urban and county sewage treatment plants are generally low, and the better treatment process varies with different scales. ③The unit investment and unit investment of pipe network decreases with the scale increasing. So does the trend of operating cost. Overall, the operating costs of the A2/O and the oxidation ditch are cheaper in urban wastewater treatment plants, while each process are more economical in country ones. Therefore, choosing reasonable process, and coordinating the relationship between centralization and decentralization play an irreplaceable role in the coordinated development of the Guangxi autonomous region in the future, saving money under the premise of ensuring the safety of water environment.

In “Eleventh Five-Year” period, Guangxi has vigorously promoted the construction of municipal wastewater treatment plants. The statistics about construction scale shows that most of sewage treatment plants are small-scale. The main processes adopted in the plants are Oxidation ditch(OD), A²/O and SBR and its improved processes. The loading rate is generally low. COD and BOD removal effect are 78% and 87%. In scale of below 2×104m³/d, 2-5×104m³/d,5-10×104m³/d and more than 10×104m³/d, the costs of Diatomite, Oxidation ditch(OD), Oxidation ditch(OD), A²/O processes are relatively provincial, respectively. Meanwhile, the running costs of sewage treatment plants are mainly affected by the scale of construction and loading rate.

This paper was based on Carrousel oxidation ditch, which was common in the urban sewage treatment plants. With the effect of SND in the oxidation ditch, it was accomplished the effective removal for nitrogen and phosphorus of urban sewage with low C/N, while adopting point-aeration and brush flow, combining with the operation parameters adjustment. Under the condition of low dissolved oxygen (DO), the phenomenon of simultaneous nitrification and denitrification was obvious in macro and micro environments. And compared with the traditional process, this process increased the proportion of organics up to 51% in the ditch, which raised utilization rate of organics. Based on this to establish the kinetics model of TN removal, it could control the concentration of TN in the effluent effectively by adjusting HRT, MLSS and other parameters in the oxidation ditch, which would provide effective theory basis for optimization and adjustment of the process

The process technique and design parameters of project of Solar Ozonic Ecological Sewage Treatment Plant (short for SOESTP) which consists of anaerobic reactor, horizontal subsurface flow (HSSF) constructed wetlands(CWs) and the combination of solar power and ozone disinfection are described, the paper further examines the removal efficiency for treating rural domestic sewage, running expense and recycling ability of product water. The results show that the average percentage removal values of CODcr,BOD5,SS,TN,NH3-N,TP range from 95.6% to 98.0%, 96.0% to 98.7%, 93.1% to 96.1%, 97.0% to 98.9%, 96.9% to 99.5%, 98.2% to 99.6%, respectively, the reduction of fecal coliform (FC) reaches 99.9%, the effluent quality meets the first level A criteria specified in Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant(GB18918-2002). The running cost of SOESTP is 0.063yuan/ m3, saves much more than traditional sewage treatment, and the ozone water obtained from the reservoir will be an ideal choice for disinfection .The system has characteristics of easy manipulation, low operating cost, achieving advanced water, energy conservation and environment protection, is thought to be very suitable for use as the promotion of rural small - scale sewage treatment.

Effect and benefits of a product or service could be analyzed and evaluated by life cycle assessment during the whole life cycle. Urban sewage treatment plants could improve and control urban water pollution escalating, but it also had certain harm to environment. Effect and benefits of urban wastewater treatment plant A and B were analyzed and evaluated, 13 factors were selected, and comprehensive benefits were researched quantificationally using the method of analytic hierarchy process. It found that urban wastewater treatment plant A who applied A/O process had better benefits than urban wastewater treatment plant B who applied BIOLAK process.

Rural sanitation is still a challenge in developing countries, such as Brazil, where the majority population live with inadequate services, compromising public health and environmental safety. In this context, this study analyzed the demographic density of these rural agglomerations using secondary data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The goal was to identify the possibilities associated with using small-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactors for sewage treatment, mainly focusing on biogas production and its conversion into energy for cooking, water heating and sludge sanitization. Results showed that most rural agglomerations lacking the appropriate sewage treatment were predominant from 500 to 1500 inhabitants in both northern and southern Brazilian regions. The thermal energy available in the biogas would be enough to sanitize the whole amount of sludge produced in the sewage treatment plants (STPs), producing biosolids for agricultural purposes. Furthermore, the surplus of thermal energy (after sludge sanitization) could be routed for cooking (replacing LPG) and for water heating (replacing electricity) in the northern and southern regions, respectively. This would benefit more than 200,000 families throughout rural areas of the country. Besides the direct social gains derived from the practice of supplying biogas for domestic uses in the vicinity of the STPs, there would be tremendous indirect gains related to the avoidance of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Therefore, an anaerobic-based sewage treatment may improve public health conditions, life quality and generate added value products in Brazilian rural areas.

One of the main problems in Russia is an acute shortage of free land for the disposal of solid domestic waste and sewage sludge. The treatment and removal of precipitation is a major problem in wastewater treatment. Urban sewage treatment plants were built on model projects in the 1970s, in which natural dehydration on silt areas was provided. Sludge dehydration on silt areas of sewage treatment plants of medium and high capacity is impossible due to the lack of free land areas. The major drawback of this method is the rejection of significant land areas, contamination of the geo-environment, the release of pollutants into the air, as well as the loss of land resources. In sludge processing and utilization, it is necessary to achieve minimum damage to the environment and to increase the possibility of using it on behalf of the national economy. The adoption of new technology and processing of sediments allowed to reduce the initial amount of precipitation by 4 times and to reduce the humidity from 97% to 83%, the amount of sludge formed at the treatment facilities will decrease by 6 times (from 300 m3/day to 50 m3/day) as a result of dehydration of the filter presses, the will be a reduction in the surface concentrations of pollutants in the atmosphere from 5,4 tons per year to 2,9 tons per year.

Abstract The article analyzes the effectiveness of individual Actibloc wastewater treatment plants (produced by Sotralentz) working in the technology of low-rate activated sludge in the Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) system. The assessment of the effectiveness of household wastewater treatment plants was made on the basis of pollutants: BOD5, COD, total suspended solids, total nitrogen and total phosphorus. The research objects were four household sewage treatment plants located in: Lubań, Kłębanowice, Stara Rzeka and Kościan. The efficiency of removing pollutants in the examined facilities was in the range of: BOD5 92.2 ÷ 97.2%, COD 82.6 ÷ 89.9%, total suspended solids 90.2 ÷ 96.2%, total nitrogen 50.8 ÷ 83.1%, total phosphorus 46.5 ÷ 73.6%. The treated wastewater met the requirements set out in the Regulation of the Minister of the Environment on the conditions to be met when discharging sewage into water or soil, and on substances particularly harmful to the aquatic environment (Journal of Laws 2014, item 1800) in terms of indicators such as BOD5, COD, total suspended solids and total nitrogen. The effectiveness of phosphorus removal in the studied treatment plants was much lower.
