The influence of current harmonics on high-speed permanent magnet motor is analyzed in this paper. The several aspects influence of current harmonics are analyzed in detail such as on the stator core losses, copper losses, as well as additional losses, the rotor losses, the electromagnetic torque etc. The necessity of suppressing current harmonics for high-speed motor stable and reliable running and the key issues of high-speed motor control system stable operation is stated.

For pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter drives, an LC filter can cascade to a permanent magnet (PM) machine at inverter output to reduce PWM-reflected current harmonics. Because the LC filter causes resonance, the filter output current and voltage are required for the sensorless field-oriented control (FOC) drive. However, existing sensors and inverters are typically integrated inside commercial closed-form drives; it is not possible for these drives to obtain additional filter output signals. To resolve this integration issue, this paper proposes a sensorless LC filter state estimation using only the drive inside current sensors. The design principle of the LC filter is first introduced to remove PWM current harmonics. A dual-observer is then proposed to estimate the filter output current and voltage for the sensorless FOC drive. Compared to conventional model-based estimation, the proposed dual-observer demonstrates robust estimation performance under parameter error. The capacitor parameter error shows a negligible influence on the proposed observer estimation. The filter inductance error only affects the capacitor current estimation at high speed. The performance of the sensorless FOC drive using the proposed dual-observer is comparable to the same drive using external sensors for filter voltage and current measurement. All experiments are verified by a PM machine with only 130 μH phase inductance.

Soft ferrite has the characteristics of high permeability, high resistivity, low loss. Based on this, a new flux-weakening structure of high-speed permanent magnet motor was presented. The structure relies on changing the saturation of soft magnetic ferrite to change the equivalent magnetic resistance of permanent magnet magnetic circuit in the motor, so the main flux of the permanent magnet motor can be reduced. By the 3D Finite Element analyses, the magnetic field distribution characters in the air gap can be pointed out. The analysis results prove the flux-weakening method is presented in this paper is correct and feasible. It can provide a practical flux-weakening method of the high-speed PM motor.

Power rectifiers are very necessary in the wind power generation systems since they are the necessary channels that link the generator and power gird together. However, they have some effects on the permanent magnet wind generator due to their work on fast on-off transitions. Taking an 8kW 2000r/min wind-driven permanent magnet generator as an example, the system model and external circuit were established. Firstly, based on the field-circuit coupling calculation method, the voltage and current harmonics have been studied respectively when the generator was connected to rectifier loads and pure resistance loads, so did the total harmonic distortion. The mechanism of harmonic impacted by rectifiers was revealed. Secondly, combined the harmonic electromagnetic field theory, the stator core loss, armature winding copper loss and rotor eddy loss were analyzed when the generator connected different loads. Furthermore, according to the definition of nonlinear circuits PF, the numerical analysis method was adopted to calculate the power factor when the generator connected two loads respectively. The change mechanism of PF impacted by rectifiers has been revealed. In addition, the temperature field model has been established and the generator temperature was also analyzed. The temperature distributions were obtained when the wind generator was connected to different loads. Then, the relationship between losses and temperature was combined, the change rules of permanent magnet temperature by the eddy current loss were studied under different load. At last, it can prove that the rectifiers have influences on both electromagnetic field and temperature field through comparing the simulation results with experimental test data.

In this paper, a type interior permanent magnet synchronous motor designs is proposed for sport scooter application to improve constant torque wide speed performance. Interior Permanent Magnet machines are widely used in automotive applications for their wide-speed range operation and low maintenance cost. An existing permanent magnet motor (commercial QS Motor) is 3 kW-3000 rpm. In order to improve torque and power in wide speed range, a IPM electric motor 5.5 kW -5000 rpm can run up to 100 km/h: An Step-Skewing Interior Permanent Magnet motor alternatives is designed and optimized in detail with optimal magnetic segment V shape. The electromagnetic charateristics of Interior Permanent Magnet motors with V shape are compared with the reference Surface Permanent Magnet motor for the same geometry parameter requirements. Detailed loss and efficiency result is also analyzed at rate and maximum speeds. A prototype motor is manufactured, and initial experimental tests are performed. Detailed comparison between Finite Element Analysis and test data are also presented. It is shown that it is possible to have an optimized Interior Permanent Magnet motor for such high-speed traction application. This paper will figure out optimal angle of magnetic V shape for maximum torque and minimum torque ripple.
