The Effect of the Method of Gallium Introduction into a Zeolite on its Physico-Chemical Properties and Reactivity in the Course of Propane Aromatization

Different methods are used to prepare gallium-containing zeolites of a ZSM-5 structure. Their acidic and structural characteristics are investigated and the effect of the method of gallium introduction into a zeolite on distribution and ratio of acid sites of different strengths, as well as on pore volume and diameter is determined. The relationship between the localization of gallium introduced into a zeolite by different methods and its electronic state and the catalytic activity and selectivity of the resulting contacts in the course of propane aromatization is established. The Ga-containing zeolite prepared by impregnation is found to be the most efficient catalyst for conversion of propane into aromatic hydrocarbons.

In this work, nickel promoted sulfated zirconia (Ni/SZ) as catalyst was prepared by either by reflux (Ni/SZ-R) or hydrothermal Ni impregnation (Ni/SZ-H) routes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influences of two preparative methods on the physico-chemical properties of prepared catalysts. Both the catalysts were characterized by XRD, FTIR, ammonia adsorption, SEM-EDX, TEM-SAED, AAS and BET. It was found that the presence of sulfate and nickel could enhance the Brønsted and Lewis active acid sites. In relation to the effect of Ni impregnation method, acidity, amount of sulfate and Ni found in Ni/SZ-R were higher than those in Ni/SZ-H. Unfortunately, higher impregnated sulfate and nickel on zirconia support led to a decrease in surface area and pore volume and an increase in crystallite size of grainy aggregated mesoporous nickel promoted sulfated zirconia (Ni/SZ).

In all, 23 sediment samples and 8 water column samples from the Brisbane River estuary, Queensland, Australia, were analysed for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in order to assess the field partitioning behaviour of these hydrocarbons. Twelve PAHs, ranging in molecular weight from naphthalene to benzo[a]pyrene, were identified and quantified. Their partition coefficients, indexed to sediment organic carbon and lipid content, were calculated after filtering to remove particulates and making a calculated adjustment for colloids, or organic matter, in the water phase. In logarithmic form, the partition coefficients were related to the physico-chemical properties of the compounds (Kow, Sw, RRT) by relationships having a parabolic shape rather than being linear. However, compounds with log Kow values of less than 5.5 gave linear relationships comparable to, but distinctly different from, those obtained from laboratory experiments. It is suggested that field conditions have distinctive differences from laboratory experiments that do not allow the direct translation of laboratory-based relationships to the natural aquatic environment.

The coast of Henry's island, extending from Saptamukhi River in the east to Bakkhali River in the West. In the hot and humid climate of the Sundarban, a negligible input of fresh water through tidal creeks, high evaporation rate at the surface area are the probable reasons behind the evolution of Hypersaline patches of Henry's and Patibunia Island. The dense salt patches develop in the abandoned portion of the surface then sinks and move out of the tidal estuaries as subterranean flow or a bottom current to make the environment more saline. Development of Saltpan is one of the major hindrances for the growth of mangroves and hampers the ecological balance of Sundarban. Present paper attempts to highlight- I) To study and identification of Geomorphological settings of both island. ii) Analysis of Physico-chemical properties of hyper saline soil. iii) Identification of hyper-saline patches and their impact on mangrove degradation. Application of remote sensing technique and GIS analysis help to find out the relationship between mangrove degradation and salinity within the islands area in the last few decades. Development of hyper saline patches and changing environmental parameters are how much responsible for the mangrove degeneration process are major issues of this paper. The Forest Department has attempted to restore the growth of mangrove and improve fragile ecosystem but without understanding the geomorphology and environmental condition, it is not possible to implement proper managemental strategies for wetland restoration process.
