Rational Placement of a Steel Fiber in Sections of the Combined and Monolithic Bent Reinforced Concrete Elements

In the article some considerations to optimize the cross-sections of prefabricated-monolithic combined reinforced bent elements are given. The analytical dependence that allows more economical design of the structures in question taking into account the strength and quantity parameters, as well as the geometric dimensions of the individual components of the prefabricated-monolithic section and their relationships is proposed.

Состояние проблемы. Железобетонные элементы изготавливаются, как правило, по трем основным технологиям - вибрированием, центрифугированием и виброцентрифугированием. Однако все основные расчетные зависимости для определения их несущей способности выведены, исходя из основного постулата - постоянства и равенства характеристик бетона по сечению, что реализуется лишь в вибрированных колоннах. Результаты. В рамках диаграммного подхода предложены итерационный, приближенный и упрощенный способы расчета несущей способности железобетонных вибрированных, центрифугированных и виброцентрифугированных колонн. Выводы. Расчет по диаграммному подходу показал существенно более подходящую сходимость с опытными данными, чем расчет по методике норм, а также дал лучшие результаты при использовании дифференциальных характеристик бетона, чем при использовании интегральных и, тем более, нормативных характеристик бетона. Statement of the problem. Reinforced concrete elements are typically manufactured according to three basic technologies - vibration, centrifugation and vibrocentrifugation. However, all the basic calculated dependencies for determining their bearing capacity were derived using the main postulate, i.e., the constancy and equality of the characteristics of concrete over the cross section, which is implemented only in vibrated columns. Results. Within the framework of the diagrammatic approach, iterative, approximate and simplified methods of calculating the bearing capacity of reinforced concrete vibrated, centrifuged and vibrocentrifuged columns are proposed. Conclusions. The calculation according to the diagrammatic approach showed a significantly better convergence with the experimental data than that using the method of norms, and also performs better when using differential characteristics of concrete than when employing integral and particularly standard characteristics of concrete.

Abstract A large number of infrastructural concrete buildings are protected against aggressive environments by coating systems. The functionality of these coating systems is mainly affected by the composition and thickness of the individual polymeric layers. For the first time ever, a mobile nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sensor allows a non-destructive determination of these important parameters on the building site. However, before this technique can be used on steel-reinforced concrete elements, the potential effect of the reinforcement on the measurement, i.e. the NMR signal, needs to be studied. The results show a shift of the NMR profile as well as an increase of the signals amplitude in the case of the reinforced samples, while calculating the thickness of concrete coating leading to identical results.

This article proposes a new connection between a steel bearing and a reinforced concrete column, which is mainly used for provisionally providing jack support in existing reinforced concrete structures. In this suggested connection joint, the steel bearing consisted of two or four symmetrical components assembled by high-strength bolts, which surrounds the reinforced concrete column by a tapered tube and balances the vertical load via the friction force between the tapered tube and concrete, that is, through a self-locking mechanism. The proposed connection joint can be assembled easily at a construction site and can also be disassembled and reused many times. To demonstrate the feasibility of this type of connection joint, a simple test was conducted to illustrate the concept, that is, a total of four medium-scale steel bearing–reinforced concrete column connections with circular cross sections were fabricated and tested under axial loading. The test results showed that the steel bearing–reinforced concrete column connection based on self-locking mechanism exhibited good working performance. Furthermore, a simplified formula to predict the axial stiffness of the connection joint was presented. From the tests and the proposed formula, the most important factors that influence the axial stiffness of this type of connection joint on the premise of an elastic working state are the slope of the tapered tube, the height of the steel bearing, the thickness of the tapered tube, the cross section of the reinforced concrete column, the cross-sectional area of all the connecting bolts, the proportion of the number of top bolts, the area of the top ring plate, and the effective contact area ratio.

According to the results of experimental studies, empirical dependencies were obtained (obtained from the appropriate mathematical models). The advanced (refined) method of engineering calculation of express-estimation of the strength of sloping cross sections of elements of flexible reinforced concrete structures on the basis of comparative analysis of the obtained empirical dependencies and standard accepted methods in the world was developed (nine basic norms are taken: DSTU B.V.2.6-156:2010 (Ukraine), previously operating SNiP 2.03.01-84*, SNB 5.03.01-02 (Belarus), SR 63.13330.2012 (Russia), Eurocode 2, 2004 (European Union), ACI 318-M14 (USA), AIJ Code, 2007 (Japan), CSA 23.3-04 (Canada), DIN 1045-1 (Germany). The coefficient of variation of bearing capacity and accident ratio according to the results of calculations of standard methods are determined. Their comparative analysis is carried out and informative graphic figures are presented.

On the basis of theoretical and experimental studies, the prerequisites and the method of calculation of bent and compressed-curved reinforced concrete structures with zone reinforcement made of steel fiber, working under static and short-term dynamic loads, are formulated. In the developed method for calculating the strength of normal and inclined sections, a nonlinear deformation model is implemented, which is based on the actual deformation diagrams of materials. The developed calculation method is brought to the program of calculation of reinforced concrete structures with zone reinforcement of steel fiber under short-term dynamic loading, taking into account the inelastic properties of materials. The numerical studies made it possible to determine the influence of various parameters of steel-fiber reinforcement on the strength of reinforced concrete elements. To confirm the main results of the developed calculation method, experimental studies of reinforced concrete beam structures reinforced with conventional reinforcement and a zone steel-fiber layer are planned and carried out. Experimental studies were carried out under static and short-term dynamic loads. As a result of the conducted experiments, data were obtained that characterize the process of destruction, deformation and cracking of steel-reinforced concrete elements under such types of loading. The dependences of changes in the energy intensity of reinforced concrete structures with zone reinforcement made of steel fiber in the compressed and stretched cross-section zones under dynamic loading are obtained. The effectiveness of the use of fiber reinforcement of normal and inclined sections of bent and compressed-curved elements to improve the strength and deformative.
