The strength of abrasive wheels is one of the key factors affecting the performance of abrasive machining. The paper discusses ways to improve the strength of abrasive wheels. The stress-state mathematical model presented herein is a generalization of the existing models. It is used herein to find for the first time that there are numerous optimal combinations of the elastic modulus and reinforcing material density, which result in the same minimum value of the objective function. It is found out that increasing the radius of the reinforcing component while also optimizing the mechanical properties of its material may increase the permissible breaking speed of the wheel several times. We herein present a regression equation and a nomogram for finding the optimal combination of control factors. Conventional methods for testing the mechanical properties of materials, which have been proven reliable for testing metals and alloys, are not as reliable for testing abrasive materials, as the test results they generate are not sufficiently stable or accurate. We therefore propose an alternative method that does not require any special equipment or special studies.

Effects of major factors, such as alloy composition, crystal structure and grain size, on mechanical properties of TiZr based alloys are investigated and summarized in this work. The microhardness of TC4 alloy obviously increases 15.3% and 17.6% after 30 wt.% and 47 wt.% Zr additions, respectively. Nanoindentation results show that the average nanoindentation hardness of α phase in annealed 30 Zr is approximately 18% higher than that of retained β phase. Tensile test results show that variation in strength of basketweave microstructural 30 Zr alloy with original β grain size from 100 to 203 μm is less than 2%.

Online purchase is chosen as an easy step to spend on getting our essentials without having to line up at the counter. The objective of this research is to study online purchasing practices and the factors that influence them. In addition, the study also aims to examine the differences in online purchasing practices by selected background factors (gender, stratum, generation, ethnicity, home income, education level and zone). The population of this study consisted of users over the age of 17 who were selected by convenience through the 'mall intercept' method. T-test results showed significant differences (t = -3.156, p = 0.001) for online purchase practice scores between male and female respondents. ANOVA test results also show significant average score differences in terms of generation [F (3, 1298) = 3,475, p = 0.016], ethnicity [F (4, 1291) = 3,678, p = 0.006], and income [F (4, 1227) = 6,935, p = 0.000] while no differences are reported for the level of education, zone and stratum when p > 0.05. The findings also show that only five key factors were the consumer choice before make online purchases, which are safety factors, products offered, risks, can trusted and user experience.

The aim of this study is to investigate the key factors affecting foreign direct real estate investment (FDIRE) in Turkey’s economy. A DOLS-FMOLS estimator model was developed to investigate the determinants of FDIRE in Turkey. Data was used between 2003Q1-2018Q2. This study differs from the previous ones in that this particular topic is being researched as regards the economy of Turkey for the first time. The results showed that the most important variables affecting foreign direct real estate investment in Turkey was openness and exchange rate. Furthermore, economic growth also has a positive impact. On the other hand, interest has been found to be the most negative factor affecting investments. Moreover, the increase in building construction costs directly reduce foreign real estate investment. The results show that the gradually increasing openness of Turkey’s economy contributes to the increase in foreign investments in the real estate market.

Abstract Teredinidae are wood-boring mollusks found in marine and estuarine regions. Evaluation of the distribution and abundance of Teredinidae is a very important task, as the impact of the destruction of wood in man-made structures is still underestimated, mainly in tropical regions. It is also know that temperature and salinity are key factors affecting the abundance and activity of Teredinidae due to their effects on the physiological responses of Teredinidae. The aim of this study was to evaluate the distribution and abundance of Teredinidae along the Rio de Janeiro coast according to temperature range and pattern. Artificial pine collectors were used and remained immersed for three months in four regions at 14 sites. We recorded seven species of Teredinidae, identified according to their pallets. Ilha Grande Bay was the region with the highest density and species richness, and the region with the lowest was Guanabara Bay. One gradient of abundance related to temperature was found. The most abundant species were Lyrodus floridanus and Teredo furcifera. Besides temperature, wood availability among regions was another important factor. For the first time, we recorded the occurrence of Bankia destructa on the Rio de Janeiro coast, but this record does not indicate any species introduction or expanding distribution range.

The paper is devoted to ethno-cultural landscapes of the Republic of Tuva. Ethnocultural landscapes (ECLs) are specific socio-environmental systems that developed as a result of the interaction of ethnic groups with their natural and social environments and are in a constant process of transformation. An attempt is made to identify the mechanisms of the formation, functioning and dynamics of ethnocultural landscapes in the specific conditions of the intracontinental cross-border mountain region, as well as to establish the main factors-catalysts of their modern changes. For the first time an attempt is made to delimit and map the ethnocultural landscapes of Tuva. For this, literary sources, statistical data and thematic maps of different times are analyzed using geoinformation methods. The results of 2014-2018 field studies are also used, during which interviews with representatives of different ethno-territorial, gender, age and social groups were taken. It is revealed that the key factors of Tuva’s ethnocultural landscape genesis are the natural isolation of its territory; the features of its landscape structure; the role of government; population migrations from other regions and the cultural diffusion provoked by them. 13 ethnocultural landscapes are identified at the regional level. Their modern transformation is determined by the shift of climatic cycles, aridisation, globalisation of sociocultural processes, changes in economic specialisation and ethnopsychological stereotypes.

Production technology of metal casting industry in Indonesia needs to be improved, especially in the manufacturing of spare parts and box engine made of gray cast iron which has various wall thick such as dove tale construction. Microstructure of gray cast iron is influenced by cooling rate during casting, chemical composition and melting treatment process (inoculation). The part which has the thinnest thickness has the fastest cooling therefore, the grain boundary is smaller compared to other section. As a result this part has highest hardness and difficult to be machined. This research is conducted to solve this problem by modifying melting and solidification treatment process. The research starting from micro structure analysis, composition and mechanical properties tests on the product, and then conducting modification treatment through Taguchi method approach. Experimental results obtained show that the best level settings to control factors which affect to the uniformity of the microstructure and mechanical properties in gray cast iron is the addition of seed inoculation super ® 75, as much as 0.25% with the method of inoculation material entering into the Transfer Ladle. Keywords: carbon, micro structure, hardness, inoculation
