A comparative analysis of the production technology of wire for metal cord from wire rod patented in lead baths and sorbitized from rolling heating is carried out. It is established that the processing of sorbitized wire rod makes it possible to exclude the heat treatment of front blanks with a diameter of 5.1 and 3.5 mm, which saves gas, electricity, and metal. The consumption of metal in the manufacture of metal cord using the modified technology has decreased by 1.5 times.

Technological properties of rubber compounds as well as viscous-elastic and strength properties of the tread rubber for heavy-duty tires whole with metal cord (MCT), based on blends of natural (NR) or synthetic polyisoprene of various trade marks (more than 80 %) and polybutadiene (more than 10 %) were studied. The new processing aid (PA), worked out in LLC «NPP QUALITET» under registered trade mark KVALISTROL® A100, was suggested instead of importing analogous of PA Polyplastol 6 type. It was established that replacement of NR in MCT formulation by the SKI-3S rubber produced with the use of a new anti-agglomerator of a crumb of KVANTISLIP® of the BM-2R, PA A100 brand, increased dosage of sulfur-accelerated group and the corrected dosage of the vulcanization inhibiter Santogard PVI and together with the worked out mixing mode at a stage of production of masterbatch allows to receive rubber compound close to reference on the basis of the NR on viscosity. At the same time the new rubber compound's strength and elastic properties practically don't differ, and in the lowered values of a hysteresis, surpass reference rubber compound with NR use.

In order to reduce the cost of producing metal cord in the hardware shops of OJSC “BSW” – the Management Company of the Holding “BMC”, work is underway to modernize and select materials for replaceable technological equipment. In the process of twisting the metal cord on the unwinding of the power coils of rope machines, brake devices are used, consisting of a disk and sectors (pads) fixed in a chain. The elements of the unwinding unit are in constant contact, providing the necessary tension force for unwinding a thin wire. The performance of the braking devices affects the manufacturability of the twist, the absence of breaks, the density and geometric arrangement of the wires in the twisted metal cord that meets the requirements of consumers.Due to constant contact friction at high linear speeds, the brake pads wear out, which leads to emergency operation of the equipment. The article considers the test results of the modified thin wire unwinding unit and the impact of modernization on the service life of brake pads.

The article examines the breaks of thin brass‑plated wire for metal cord and high‑pressure hoses of the “sparking” type and the causes of their formation. The wire was manufactured in OJSC “BSW” – he Management Company of the Holding” BMC “ in the conditions of steel‑wire workshops. The appearance and microstructure of breaks of thin brassplated wire of the “sparking” type are investigated. As a result of the analysis of the appearance and microstructure of the breaks, it was assumed that surface defects are formed on the brass‑plated wire – billet during the welding connection in the jaws of the welding machine during annealing. To confi m this, experiments were carried out with the implementation of welded joints of brass – plated wire‑blanks in wet drawing areas, the appearance and microstructure of the obtained samples of welded joints were studied. As a result of experiments and metallographic studies, the assumption was confirmed that local defects such as “cauterization from sparking” on the surface of the workpiece wire are formed during welding during the annealing operation, it was established that the cause is a violation of contact between the wire and the pressure jaws of the welding machine, wear of the pressure jaws. Photos of the defect, a description of its appearance and microstructure are given.Based on the obtained studies, a number of measures were carried out aimed at eliminating the causes of this defect.

The article presents numerous structures of earthquake-resistant foundations that have been developed by the authors and other engineers over the past more than 30 years, in which recycled metal-cord tires are used. The designs of dynamic dampers of dynamic vibrations, in which the containers for bulk fillers are made of recycled tires, are presented. Recycled tires are also effectively used in the creation of earthquake shields, as well as reinforcing elements and seismic insulation layers of earthquake-resistant ground dams. In all the above-mentioned technical solutions, the earthquake resistance of buildings and structures is achieved due to the unique geometric and physico-chemical-mechanical properties of recycled rubber tires with a metal cord.

Objective. Sanitary and hygienic assessment of the conditions of safe operation of enterprises using equipment for thermal disposal / waste disposal. Materials and methods. The objects of research were enterprises where waste is subjected to thermal disposal/utilization (location of production facilities – Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk regions). To conduct a sanitary and hygienic assessment of the levels of impact created at the border of the sanitary protection zone (SPZ) of production, the results of instrumental studies of air samples, acoustic measurements, and the results of calculating the scattering of gross pollutant emissions from their emission sources were analyzed. form the total gross emission at the industrial site (research protocols were provided by certified laboratories), as well as regulatory and technical documentation, according to which the company operates. Results. The main processes that determine the hazard class of enterprises are thermal, namely: disposal of hazardous waste at the installation for thermal disposal (utilizer) type UT3000D and processing (utilization) of rubber products by pyrolysis at the unit UE GTV MTD-5/24. The utilizer includes a combustion chamber of exhaust gases at a temperature up to 1300˚C and is equipped with a two-stage system for their purification. Shredded rubber-containing waste is pyrolyzed at a temperature of 450°C without access of oxygen with the formation of secondary waste (carbon residue, metal cord residues, gas fraction, which is burned in the main chamber, furnace fuel), which are transferred to consumers on contractual terms. As in the classification of productions [2] such enterprises are absent, SPZ for the enterprise with the utilizer UT3000D is defined in the size of 500 m by analogy with garbage incineration, for the enterprise where pyrolysis is applied - SPZ is established at the size of 110 m (on the border of the nearest inhabited building). According to the results of field research, no exceedances of the normative indicators were detected for any pollutant at the border of the SPZ. Conclusions. The conditions for the operation of enterprises are not exceeding the hygienic regulations of the permissible content of chemicals in the air of settlements [3] and ensuring the regulatory level of acoustic impact at the SPZ in accordance with the requirements [2,4], compliance with technological regulations on waste management, safety rules and use of overalls, footwear and personal protective equipment when working with hazardous waste, as well as determining the hazard class of secondary waste generated in the process of thermal disposal / utilization.

Hardware production is in continuous improvement: the requirements imposed by consumers stimulate the introduction of new technological solutions and equipment. For metal products produced by hardware shops (metal cord, wire for RVD, side bronzed wire), mechanical properties are important, which determine the strength, ductility and other characteristics of materials. Metal cord has a number of physical and chemical characteristics: the diameter of the metal cord, lay pitch, linear density, deviation from straightness, residual torsion, untwistability, characteristics of the brass coating-chemical composition – coating weight, brass thickness, adhesion, mechanical properties-breaking load, elongation at break. The article describes the procedure for measuring the size of the lay pitch on a torsiometer installed by Metro Com engineering S. p. A., Italy using an upgraded device with ten pulses (resolution of the turn counter = 0.1 rotation of the rotating clamp). Comparative tests of 2x0. 30NT metal cord samples taken from a single coil were performed using a device with a resolution of 0.25 turns and 0.1 turns of the rotating clamp of the installation to determine the pitch of the coil.
