In the present work, we studied the structural and optical properties of zinc-titania tellurite glass (75-x)TeO2-20ZnO-5TiO2-xEr2O3 doped with erbium ion Er3+ (where mol % : x= 0 (host), 0.5, 1, 1.5). The reported glasses were synthesized using tradition melt quench method. The X-ray diffraction and thermal profile were utilized to study the amorphous nature of the mentioned glass. Optical absorption UV-Visible-NIR spectra were measured for optical energy gap and Er3+ absorption bands analysis. Both visible and near infrared luminescence were performed at room temperature using 980 nm laser diode excitation where the optical transition mechanism of the Er3+ in the glass is finally proposed. Broad luminescence in the present glass suggests its potential for broadband optical application.

Abstract In this study, the effect of grafting with Iron (Fe) ratios (0.1, 0.3 and 0.5) on the structural and optical properties of cadmium oxide films (CdO) was studied, as these films were prepared on glass bases using the method of pulse laser deposition (PLD). The crystallization nature of the prepared films was examined by X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), which showed that the synthesis of the prepared films is polycrystalline, and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) images also showed that the increased vaccination with Iron led to an increase in the crustal size ratio and a decrease in surface roughness, The absorption coefficient was calculated and the optical energy gap for the prepared thin films. It was found the absorption decreases and the energy gap decreases with the increase of doping ratio.

In this work, we study the effect of doping Sn on the structural and optical properties of pure cadmium oxide films at different concentrations of Tin (Sn) (X=0.1,0.3 and 0.5) .The films prepared by using the laser-induced plasma at wavelength of laser 1064 nm and duration 9 ns under pressure reached to 2.5×10-2 mbar. The results of X-ray diffraction tests showed that the all prepared films  are polycrystalline. As for the topography of the films surface, it was measured using AFM , where the results showed that the grain size increases with an increase in the percentage of doping  in addition to an increase in the average roughness. The optical properties of all films have also been studied through the absorbance spectrum of the range  of  the wavelength (350-1100) nm, where the optical energy gap was direct transitions it was found that the value of the optical energy gap increased with increasing the doping.

Thin films of pure tin mono-sulfide SnS and tin mono-sulfide for (1,2,3,4)% fluorine SnS:F with Thicknesses of (0.85 ±0.05) ?m and (0.45±0.05) ?m respectively were prepared by chemical spray pyrolysis technique. the effect of doping of F on structural and optical properties has been studied. X-Ray diffraction analysis showed that the prepared films were polycrystalline with orthorhombic structure. It was found that doping increased the intensity of diffraction peaks. Optical properties of all samples were studied by recording the absorption and transmission spectrum in range of wave lengths (300-900) nm. The optical energy gap for direct forbidden transition and indirect allowed transition were evaluated It is found that for doping less than 2% the optical energy gap increases as the percentage of doping increases in the samples while for doping more than 2% the values of the optical energy gap decreases as the percentage of doping increases.

In this work, single phase Bismuth Ferrite, BiFeO3 was successfully synthesized by using hydrothermal method assisted with different weight (0.24 g, 0.36 g and 0.48 g) of Chitosan. Potassium hydroxide (KOH) were used as a mineralizer during the synthesis process for the precipitation. The samples were characterized for different properties such as structural and optical properties, and were then compared with previous works. The X-ray diffraction data for all the samples showed that the samples had a single phase belonging to R3c space group with perovskite rhombohedral structure at diffraction angle 32.0° to 32.5° even though the slight presence of secondary phase at diffraction angle 28° was detected. Scanning electron microscope revealed a decrement in particle size as the weight of Chitosan increased indicating effective used of Chitosan in controlling the agglomeration of the particles. All samples BiFeO3 assisted with and without Chitosan showed significant enhancement in energy gap where the obtained results showed a small energy gap values ranging from ~1.22 eV to ~1.88 eV determined from UV-vis absorbance characterization. Therefore, by the addition of Chitosan, the properties of BiFeO3 such as structural and optical have changed as well as preventing from the particle to agglomerate.

Nickel(II) phthalocyanine-tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt (NiTsPc) thin films were deposited on glass substrates at different substrate temperatures ([Formula: see text]) by chemical spray pyrolysis (CSP) technique. The substrate temperature varied from 110∘C to 310∘C in 50∘C steps. The substrate surface temperature is the main parameter that determines the film morphology and properties of the thin films. The structural properties of the deposited NiTsPc thin films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and from the obtained results, it was shown that depositing thin films using 210∘C as [Formula: see text] results in higher crystallinity. Atomic force microscope (AFM) was employed to obtain the surface topography and to calculate the roughness and grain size. The smoothest thin film surface was obtained when using at 160∘C, while the highest roughness was obtained at 310∘C. The optical properties were investigated by ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer and fluorescence spectrophotometer. From the absorption spectra recorded in the wavelength range 190–1100[Formula: see text]nm, two absorption bands were observed, which are known as Soret and Q-band. By observing the absorption spectrum, it can be concluded that the deposited thin films at 110∘C–310∘C have direct energy gap. From Tauc plot relation, the energy gap ([Formula: see text]) was calculated. The values of the energy gap were between 3.05 and 3.14[Formula: see text]eV. It was observed that different [Formula: see text] highly affects the structural and optical properties of the deposited thin films. The crystallinity, grain size, roughness and the optical properties were strongly affected by the different substrate temperatures.

Structural, thermal and optical properties of lead-tellurite oxide glasses consisting TeO2 – PbO – Bi2O3 – Er2O3, synthesized by high temperature melt-quenching-thermal annealing method were investigated in this study. The role of rare-earth element, erbium ion as dopant into the host glass has affected physically, thermally and optically of the glasses. The amorphous nature of the glasses was confirmed by XRD (x-ray diffraction). Thermal exo-endothermic event profiles clarify its glass transformation temperature Tg, crystallization temperature Tx, and melting temperature Tm are exist. Both UV-Vis-NIR optical absorption and Raman spectroscopy have revealed optical energy gap changes due to the structural deformation by the erbium ions. Related obtained glass parameters such as polarizability, refractive indices and metallization criterion were also explained further in this study.

CdO thin films have been deposited at different concentration of SnO2 (x= (0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2)) Wt. % onto glass substrates by pulsed laser deposition technique (PLD) using Nd-YAG laser with λ=1064nm, energy=600mJ and number of shots=500. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results reveal that the deposited (CdO)1-x(SnO2)x thin films cubic structure and the grain size increase with increasing annealing temperature and increasing concentration of SnO2. The optical transition in the (CdO)1-x(SnO2)x thin films are observed to be allowed direct transition. The value of the optical energy gap decreases with increasing of annealing temperatures and increase with increasing concentration of SnO2 for all samples.

Polymer films of PEG and PVA and their blend with differentconcentrations of MnCl2 (0, 2, 4, 6 and 10 %.wt) were study usingcasting technique. The X-ray spectra of pure PEG, PVA andPVA:PEG films and with addition of 2% concentrations from(MnCl2) show amorphous structures. The results for FTIR show theinteraction between the filler and polymer blend results indecreasing crystallinity with rich amorphous phase. Thisamorphous nature confirms the complexation between the filler andthe polymer blend. The optical properties of (PVA:PEG/MnCl2)contain the recording of absorbance (A) and explain that theabsorption coefficient (α), refractive index (n), extinction coefficient(ko) and the dielectric constants (real and imaginary part) increasewith increasing the concentration of Composite (PVA:PEG/MnCl2).The optical energy gap for electrons transitions both are direct andindirect allowed.

The structural and optical properties of four samples of cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) thin films having almost the same thickness deposited onto silicon substrates by organic molecular beam deposition (OMBD) were investigated. The intensity distributions of the X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns confirm the crystalline nature of the films and presents a single sharp dominant peak at 2q=6.9o (d=12.72 ) of the α-CoPc phase unit cells, which indicates to a preferential orientation (200) direction, then undergoes a phase transition into β- form in a preferential orientation (001) direction after annealing at 250 and 350◦C. Furthermore it was shown that an increasing in the crystallite size (L) occurs upon annealing. The small values of the roughness (7.04 nm, 7.2 nm) obtained from atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements show relatively smooth and flat surfaces. Despite the identity of the samples deposition conditions, the post growth annealed films show different morphological features of a mean grain size about of 11-26 nm. The optical energy gap was estimated from the absorption coefficient using Tauc's relation.
