In this work, single phase Bismuth Ferrite, BiFeO3 was successfully synthesized by using hydrothermal method assisted with different weight (0.24 g, 0.36 g and 0.48 g) of Chitosan. Potassium hydroxide (KOH) were used as a mineralizer during the synthesis process for the precipitation. The samples were characterized for different properties such as structural and optical properties, and were then compared with previous works. The X-ray diffraction data for all the samples showed that the samples had a single phase belonging to R3c space group with perovskite rhombohedral structure at diffraction angle 32.0° to 32.5° even though the slight presence of secondary phase at diffraction angle 28° was detected. Scanning electron microscope revealed a decrement in particle size as the weight of Chitosan increased indicating effective used of Chitosan in controlling the agglomeration of the particles. All samples BiFeO3 assisted with and without Chitosan showed significant enhancement in energy gap where the obtained results showed a small energy gap values ranging from ~1.22 eV to ~1.88 eV determined from UV-vis absorbance characterization. Therefore, by the addition of Chitosan, the properties of BiFeO3 such as structural and optical have changed as well as preventing from the particle to agglomerate.

Abstract In this study, the effect of grafting with Iron (Fe) ratios (0.1, 0.3 and 0.5) on the structural and optical properties of cadmium oxide films (CdO) was studied, as these films were prepared on glass bases using the method of pulse laser deposition (PLD). The crystallization nature of the prepared films was examined by X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), which showed that the synthesis of the prepared films is polycrystalline, and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) images also showed that the increased vaccination with Iron led to an increase in the crustal size ratio and a decrease in surface roughness, The absorption coefficient was calculated and the optical energy gap for the prepared thin films. It was found the absorption decreases and the energy gap decreases with the increase of doping ratio.

Nanocrystalline bismuth ferrite BFO; BiFeO3 and manganese sillenite, BMO; Bi12MnO20 (BMO) powders have been successfully elaborated using a facile co-precipitation approach. The formed materials were examined using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Furthermore, the change in the optical properties was performed based on Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and UV-visible spectrophotometer. Typical, pure BiFeO3 and Bi12MnO20 phases were detected for the precursors precipitated at pH 10 based on ammonium hydroxide as a base then annealed at 500°C for 2h. Eventually, the optical band gap energy of BFO and BMO using Kubelka–Munk function based on Tauc’s plot was found to be 2.12 and 2.79 eV, respectively.

Indium oxide:tin nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method using InCl3 and SnCl4·5H2O as starting precursor with different molar ratios of Sn:In. The crystalline structure, optical properties, chemical bonding and morphologies of all samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–vis spectrometer, Raman spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscope, respectively. The XRD results show that the crystallinity of as-synthesized powders was initially amorphous phase. After calcination at 400 °C for 2 h, a single phase ITO powder with 10% (mol%) SnO2 was obtained. The particle size of each sample is approximately 20-25 nm. The color of indium oxide:tin nanopowders after heat treatment changed from white to yellow due to the substitution of oxygen vacancies in the sample. After calcination, the intensity of Raman peak significantly decreased with increasing amount of Sn loading. This phenomenon indicates that ion substitution may occur during the synthesis process. Moreover, it is noticed that the optical absorbance of obviously changed with increasing Sn loading.

In this work, the effect of substrate temperature on structural and optical properties of V2O5 thin films has been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD); SEM and transmission. The films mince has been prepared by Reactive Chemical Spraying technology in Liquid Phase (RCSLP) on glass substrates preheated at (350, 400, 450 and 500 °C). The X-ray diffraction analysis confirms that all layers are polycrystalline, and the preferred orientation of V2O5 is the (001) plane. The morphology of V2O5 thin films are porous nature and their particle’s shape is three-dimensional. The transmittance and absorbance of thin film were measured from which the optical constants (Energy gap, Refractive index, Absorption coefficient, Extinction coefficient and Optical dielectric constant) were determined.

In the present work, we studied the structural and optical properties of zinc-titania tellurite glass (75-x)TeO2-20ZnO-5TiO2-xEr2O3 doped with erbium ion Er3+ (where mol % : x= 0 (host), 0.5, 1, 1.5). The reported glasses were synthesized using tradition melt quench method. The X-ray diffraction and thermal profile were utilized to study the amorphous nature of the mentioned glass. Optical absorption UV-Visible-NIR spectra were measured for optical energy gap and Er3+ absorption bands analysis. Both visible and near infrared luminescence were performed at room temperature using 980 nm laser diode excitation where the optical transition mechanism of the Er3+ in the glass is finally proposed. Broad luminescence in the present glass suggests its potential for broadband optical application.

In this work, we study the effect of doping Sn on the structural and optical properties of pure cadmium oxide films at different concentrations of Tin (Sn) (X=0.1,0.3 and 0.5) .The films prepared by using the laser-induced plasma at wavelength of laser 1064 nm and duration 9 ns under pressure reached to 2.5×10-2 mbar. The results of X-ray diffraction tests showed that the all prepared films  are polycrystalline. As for the topography of the films surface, it was measured using AFM , where the results showed that the grain size increases with an increase in the percentage of doping  in addition to an increase in the average roughness. The optical properties of all films have also been studied through the absorbance spectrum of the range  of  the wavelength (350-1100) nm, where the optical energy gap was direct transitions it was found that the value of the optical energy gap increased with increasing the doping.

Tin Oxide and Indium doped Tin Oxide (SnO2:In) thin films were deposited on glass and Silicon  substrates  by  thermal evaporation technique.  X-ray diffraction pattern of  pure SnO2 and SnO2:In thin films annealed at 650oC and the results showed  that the structure have tetragonal phase with preferred orientation in (110) plane. AFM studies showed an inhibition of grain growth with increase in indium concentration. SEM studies of pure  SnO2 and  Indium doped tin oxide (SnO2:In) ) thin films showed that the films with regular distribution of particles and they have spherical shape.  Optical properties such as  Transmission , optical band-gap have been measured and calculated.

AbstractA nanocomposite of 0.5SnO2–0.5Al2O3 has been synthesized using a sol-gel route. Structural and optical properties of the nanocomposite have been discussed in detail. Powder X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction spectroscopy confirm the phase purity and the particle size of the 0.5SnO2–0.5Al2O3 nanocomposite (13 to 15 nm). The scanning electron microscopy also confirms the porosity in the sample, useful in sensing applications. The FT-IR analysis confirms the presence of physical interaction between SnO2 and Al2O3 due to the slight shifting and broadening of characteristic bands. The UV-Vis analysis confirms the semiconducting nature because of direct transition of electrons into the 0.5SnO2–0.5Al2O3 nanocomposites.
