Colonization by the benign tapeworm, Hymenolepis diminuta, has been associated with a reduction in intestinal inflammation and changes in bacterial microbiota. However, the role of microbiota in the tapeworm anti-inflammatory effect is not yet clear, and the aim of this study was to determine whether disruption of the microflora during worm colonization can affect the course of intestinal inflammation. We added a phase for disrupting the intestinal microbiota using antibiotics to the experimental design for which we previously demonstrated the protective effect of H. diminuta. We monitored the immunological markers, clinical parameters, bacterial microbiota, and histological changes in the colon of rats. After a combination of colonization, antibiotics, and colitis induction, we had four differently affected experimental groups. We observed a different course of the immune response in each group, but no protective effect was found. Rats treated with colonization and antibiotics showed a strong induction of the Th2 response as well as a significant change in microbial diversity. The microbial results also revealed differences in the richness and abundance of some bacterial taxa, influenced by various factors. Our data suggest that interactions between the tapeworm and bacteria may have a major impact on its protective effect.

As a chemical extensively used in industrial areas and formed during heating of carbohydrate-rich foods and tobacco, acrylamide (ACR) has been demonstrated to exert a variety of systemic toxic effects including hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity. In the present study, we investigated the effect of curcumin, a natural polyphenolic compound in a popular spice known as turmeric, on the hepatic and renal impairment caused by ACR exposure to 40 mg/kg for 4 weeks in rats. The administration of curcumin at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg to ACR-intoxicated rats significantly decreased the serum levels of alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, creatinine, and urea; improved the histological changes of liver and kidney caused by ACR; reduced the number of apoptotic cells; as well as relieved ACR-induced hepatic and renal oxidative stress. Moreover, curcumin inhibited the CYP2E1 overexpression induced by ACR in the liver and kidney tissues. Therefore, curcumin could be applied as a potential strategy for the intervention of ACR-induced systemic toxicity. The inhibition of CYP2E1 might be involved in the protection of curcumin against ACR-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity.

Objectives: By analyzing the protective effect and mechanism of tobacco on knee joint cartilage in rats, this paper studies the effect of tobacco on knee joint recovery of college students after sports. Methods: Firstly, the main subunits of nAChRs were systematically studied by using the rat knee arthritis model α 7 and α 4 and β To clarify the correlation between nAChRs and the occurrence and development of OA. Then, the OA rat model prepared by iodoacetic acid was used as the experimental object to observe the protective effect of nicotine on knee osteoarthritis cartilage in rats. Results: The histological changes of rats in MIA group were obvious after operation. The results of light microscope score and Mankin's score at 15 and 30 days were significantly higher than those in con group. Of right knee cartilage in rats in MIA group α 7, α 4 and β The expression of 2 did not change significantly on the 15th day, but increased significantly on the 30th day compared with the blank control group. Conclusion: Nicotine has a protective effect on knee bone and joint cartilage and promotes the accelerated recovery of knee bone and joint after exercise..
