Learning activities in primary schools are still dominated by teachers, consequently the students' critical thinking skills are low. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation and improvement of students' critical thinking skills on the characteristics of wake up flat by using Contextual teaching and learning model. The results showed an improvement in the observation of students' critical thinking skills as well as aspects of teachers and students. The students' critical thinking ability in cycle I was 69 and increased in cycle II to 86. The result of observation of student aspect in cycle I was 76.75% with good qualification, and increased in cycle II to 92% with excellent qualification. It was concluded that, Contextual Teaching And Learning model can improve students' mathematical critical thinking ability. Keywords: critical thinking skills; Contextual Teaching And Learning model

This study aimed to describe the economic learning model that has been used in Islamic Senior High School 2 Madiun, the development of economic learning models through the CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) approach, and the results of research and development in economic learning model through the CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) approach to improve students' critical thinking skills. This study was research and development with the ADDIE approach which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Based on the result of the analysis stage, the economic learning in Islamic Senior High School 2 Madiun was relatively conventional and yet using innovative models in economic learning. So then the innovation in the economic learning model aimed to improve students' critical thinking skills which still relatively low. Based on the results of preliminary studies and development stage, the design of economic learning models through the CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) approach is more effective and innovative in implement the economic learning process, especially in improving students' learning outcomes and critical thinking skills in Islamic Senior High School 2 Madiun.

Abstract                                                             One of the problems in learning history is that the students could only understand the contents of learning material without understanding it in depth. Such circumstance makes the students less able to think critically in interpreting historical events. This article examines how discovery learning model and CTL learning model become a solution to develop students' critical thinking skills in historical learning. This descriptive qualitative approach was used in this research. The data was conducted by interviews and literature review of previous studies, research journals, books and other reliable sources. From our analysis, the discovery learning and Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) are learning models that provide a systematical learning process to improving student`s critical thinking skill. Discovery learning and CTL help teachers to make a connection between learning materials and student`s real-world situations and encourage students to connect their knowledge and praxis in their lives as a family or the member of society. The concept of learning models is not exclusive, but it can be combined with other learning models, such as process skills learning, experiment learning, demonstrations, discussions, and so on. The implementation of students` activities, which tend to construct their knowledge, educate the student to think critically through inquiry process or find their own problems, freedom of questioning, and applying learning community.  Keywords:   Discovery Learning Model, Contextual Teaching Learning, critical thinking skill, learning history

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of the inquiry type CTL learning model on critical thinking skills. The population in this study were eighth grade students of MTs. Al-Asy’ariyah Bandar Lampung Year 2015/2016. The research method used in this study is Quasi Experimental Design. The research design used in this quasi-experimental was the pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique is random sampling. The sample in this study consisted of two classes namely the experimental class and the control class. Data collection techniques in the form of tests to measure students' critical thinking skills and observations to observe behaviors that arise in students according to indicators of critical thinking skills. The results of hypothesis testing obtained thitung = 5.78, while ttabel at a significance level of 5% by 2.00, it can be said that thitung > ttabel. This shows that Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there is an influence of the inquiry type CTL learning model on students' critical thinking abilities.

Abstract: The ability to think critically is a form of thinking ability that needs to be developed in order to solve problems, formulate conclusions, collect possibilities, and make decisions when using all those skills effectively in the right context and type. The ability to think critically can encourage students to come up with new ideas or thoughts about a problem. Developing students' critical thinking skills can help students make conclusions by considering data and facts that occur in the field. This research is an experimental research with research design using experimental design Posttest Only Control Design. The population in this study is all students of class VIII SMPN 5 Kota Jambi consisting of eleven classes. While the sample is the students of class VIII C as the experimental class and class VIII J as the control class taken by random sampling. From the result of data analysis conducted on two samples obtained the average value of critical thinking ability of experimental class 71,36 with standard deviation 16,17 and mean value of critical thinking skill of class of 63,82 with standard deviation 15,58, and result hypothesis test obtained tcount 2.067 and ttable 1.67 at the level of real α is 0,05. From the calculation result it can be seen that tcount is more than ttable, so H0 is rejected and H1 accepted. Based on the final result, it can be concluded that there is a comparison of students' critical thinking ability taught by using Contextual Teaching and Learning model is higher than the critical thinking ability of students taught by using direct learning model. Keywords: Critical Thinking Skills, Contextual Teaching and Learning Model, and Direct Learning Model

Mathematics is one of the subjects that trains students to think critically, logically, analytically, systematically, and creatively. One of the regulations of the Minister of Nation Education No.23 of 2006 years, about “graduate competency standards” is to have the ability to cooperate. One way to develop students’s critical thinking skills is to apply student oriented learning with open learning, Open Ended. The method in this study is an experimental method by applying an Open Ended learning model. The purpose of this study was to obtain data or information about the influence and general picture of students critical thinking skills after the application of Open Ended learning in teaching and learning in the classroom. In addition to get an overview of students respones to the application of Open Ended. This study took the population class V MI Al-Falahiyah Kedungrejo-Kerek-Tuban lesson years 2019/2020. This study uses the population as a score of data because the number of students studied is less than 100 students. Namely fifth grade students, amuting to 20 students. The instruments used as data collection were questionnaires and test of mathematical critical thinking skills in fraction subjects. The statistical test used was a t-test with a pre test and post test one group design. Students whos responded to learning with who Open Ended model with a score range’s of 25-27by 10%, a range scores of 28-30 by 15%, a range scores 31-33 by 30%, a range scores of 34-36 by 15%, and 37-39 by 30%. With 11 students who responded well, and 9 students who responded very good, to the Open Ended learning model. Hypothesis test results with the t-test t hitung >  t tabel (2,109>2,029). While the average value of students mathematic critical thinking ability of students is categorized as moderate or sufficient.
