Thermally drawn multimaterial fibers have experienced rapid development in the past two decades owing to the high scalability, uniformity, and material and structure compatibility of the thermal drawing technique. This article reviews various multimaterial fibers based on different functional structures and their applications in disparate fields. We start from the functional structures achieved in optical fibers developed in the early stage of thermally drawn fibers. Subsequently, we introduce both typical functional structures and unique structures created in multimaterial fibers for varying applications. Next, we present the early attempts in breaking the axial symmetric structures of thermally drawn fibers for extended functionalities. Additionally, we summarize the current progress on creating surface structures on thermally drawn fibers. Finally, we provide an outlook for this trending topic towards wearable devices and smart textiles.

In the current study, the purpose is to determine the secondary school students’ cognitive structure related to the concept of atom by using the drawing technique. The study was conducted with the participation of 90 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in 2016-2017 school year. The students were asked two open-ended questions to illustrate the concept of atom in their minds and to explain where they have learned the information expressed in their drawings about the atom so that the atom models in their minds could be elicited. The students’ responses to these questions were categorized by means of qualitative analysis and frequencies were calculated for them. At the end of the study, it was determined whether the atom models drawn by the students are false or acceptable. It was seen that the students rarely illustrated nucleus and electrons in their drawings and they usually drew spheres. Moreover, the students stated that they learned this information mostly from different textbooks or the Internet. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.

High school in Indonesia has two types, specifically senior high schools and vocational schools (SMK). Vocational high schools in Indonesia have a lot of education focus which aims to provide education to their students so they can work immediately. One of the vocational schools in Indonesia is the Tangerang 4 Vocational High School which focuses on education in engineering. One of the engineering scopes at SMK Negeri 4 Tangerang is "Drawing Technique for Building" (Teknik Gambar Bangunan). "Drawing Technique for Building" is a vocational class that specializes in learning how to draw techniques for houses and buildings. As vocational students of "Building Drawing Technique", each student must learn how to draw techniques according to ISO standards complete with various etiquettes in manually, after proficient in drawing manually, students must learn AutoCAD, an software for drawing because this becomes the main competency as students "Building Drawing Techniques". To increase the capacity and capabilities of its students at SMK 4 Tangerang, the Budi Luhur University Architecture Study Program introduces one of the software related to building drawing The software introduced in Revit Architecture version 2013. Revit Architecture 2013 is a software that aims to create building construction designs for architects and supports the concept of BIM (Building Information Modeling). The output of this socialization is that students of SMK Negeri 4 Tangerang understanding about software for drawing techniques other than AutoCAD and various conveniences when drawing with Revit Architecture 2013 software

Global warming is becoming worse owing to carbon dioxide emissions around the world, and eco-friendly energy for reducing carbon dioxide emissions is gaining importance. Wind power plants are the most representative of the environmentally friendly energy power plants built in the ocean. The fatigue loading and long-term dynamic behavior of offshore soils are important considerations in the construction of structures such as wind turbines in the ocean as they are subject to long-term loads such as wind and wave loads. A design graph presents the short- and long-term behaviors of soil. Several laboratory tests are typically conducted to create design graphs. In this study, a cyclic simple shear test conducted at various confining pressures and relative densities is presented in design graphs. The authors analyzed the sensitivity of the relative density and the confining pressure, and proposed a drawing technique to easily create two-dimensional design graphs. The authors found that the effect of the relative density on the design failure curve was higher compared with that of the confining pressure. The elliptic equation graph achieved the best match to the design failure curve, and the design failure curve drawing technique was summarized in five stages. In addition, the normalized cyclic stress ratio graph to distinguish safety or failure was presented.
