This study addresses farmers’ market as an alternative for sustainable development, within the social conjuncture of family agriculture and its productive system. Farmers’ markets strengthen the bonds between urban and rural spheres, allowing the family farmers to find in this activity an opportunity to strengthen the local market. This research aims to analyze farmers’ market as an alternative for the strengthening of sustainable practices in the city of Marechal Cândido Rondon – PR. This is a bibliographic and documentary study, with a descriptive exploratory approach, contemplating the relationship between sustainability, rural development, family agriculture and rural markets, more precisely farmers’ market in the urban environment, complemented by a case study, with field research and application of a structured questionnaire with open and closed questions for the producers and organizers of the market. Thus, it was emphasized that farmers’ market really is composed of exhibitors, mostly farmers and family farmers, that can also be considered as a business alternative for family farming, acting as a driver for sustainable rural development, since it generates income and expands the opportunity to offer the commercialized products, bringing not only financial, as well as social and environmental return for the family farmer.

Through a case study, it was analyzed how much the School Agricultural Family (EFA) called Itapirema, located in the city of Ji-Paraná, State of Rondônia/Brazil, has contributed for the practices of sustainable rural development of the Central Territory in the State of Rondônia. In the theoretical framework are identified the main environmentalist visions, approaches of sustainable development and the concepts of education for the sustainable development. Data extracted from EFA Itapirema’s documents, treated by means of analysis of the content, permitted to identify the predominant conception of sustainable rural development in the school curriculum. By interviews and field observations were investigated the areas in which their ex graduates are acting and was analyzed how much those ex graduates and their families are aligned with the proposal of the School. The result indicates that the environmentalist approach of the School is inserted in a conception preservationist: the proposal of rural development embodies conceptions of sustainabilism and socio-environmentalist in a balanced form. However, it was identified in practice this equilibrium has not been achieved, because the conception sustainabilist has not being satisfactorily performed by the ex graduates and their families. Thus, the EFA Itapirema School’s proposal does not have practical consequence for rural sustainable development in the region where it acts, because it is much more based in its "being" than on its "doing". Abstract The current study discusses the role and the importance of alternative food networks, farmers’ markets in particular, for sustainable rural development through the example of Bulgaria. Farmers’ markets are considered as a sustainable business model of networking which encourages production and consumption of local food of healthy origin adhering to high standards for quality and safety, building society and trust and encouraging development of rural regions. The case of Bulgaria is scrutinized in the context of the support for local food and short supply chains anticipated under the national rural development programme for the period 2014–2020 and the current state-of-art and capacities of available farmers’ markets. Some good practices are analyzed and presented establishing a new type of relationships between producers and consumers of farm products proving that farmers’ markets could be efficient incubators of local businesses and new relationships with end-users. Conclusions are made on nature, objectives and functioning of farmers’ markets, challenges and problems in their promotion, support and encouragement.

Palavras chave: Organização Espacial; Regiões Administrativas; Políticas Públicas; Agricultura FamiliarPUBLIC POLICIES IN BRAZIL:  THE CASE OF THE PROGRAM OF ACQUISITION OF FOODS OF FAMILY AGRICULTURE IN THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO, BRAZILAbstract: The main objective is to analyze the organization of the Program of Acquisition of Food of Family Agriculture (PAA) in the agricultural space of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. We used as data source the actions of the Superintendence of National Supply Company CONAB-SP (2012).  According with the actions of the PAA in the agricultural space of São Paulo, it was verified that the PAA presented a relative better performance in relation to the set of other regional superintendence; the Buy with Simultaneous Donation modality reaches the most expressive number of municipalities; the PAA has been applied with greater intensity in favor of the family farmers and settlers of more impoverished administrative regions; There is a strong link between the PAA and the agrarian settlements; the PAA seems to complement PRONAF, since is responds with greater intensity to those farmers with greater difficulties of access to the rural credit program. Taking into account the intentions expressed formally in the creation of the PAA, especially that of seeking to provide the lowest income family farmers. This research investigates relations between communication and the development of family farmers from the Pontal do Paranapanema region (state of São Paulo), mainly in the municipality of Teodoro Sampaio. Family agriculture in this municipality is represented basically by beneficiaries the Agrarian Reform program. The main hypothesis is that communication contributes positively to the development of those family farmers. Thus, this study aimed to understand communication practices of these farmers and relate them with the development of their families. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. Development proxy is understood as the combination between the family living conditions and production. Among the main results, it was found that the effect of communication for "life and production conditions" increases as farmers at superior levels of "development" are analyzed; thus the main hypothesis should not be rejected for those farmers with higher development condition. For the others, communication did not have the same effect because many settled families are not focused on agricultural activities. The main suggestion is to improve ways for producers and professionals from public services related to them to access information.

In today's Turkey, rapid technological changes and developments at global level has increased to migration from village to urban areas. Sustainable rural development (SRD) means that future generations can meet their needs in a settlement that is less than a population of 20,000, so that past generations can’t complain about them. For sustainable rural development, it is important to prevent rural migration and to present labour, production, marketing and living opportunities in rural areas. In this context, the study was conducted in order to investigate the causes of migration from the village to the city, to take the necessary precautions and to make suggestions for the SRD. For this purpose, the research has been applied to farmers in selected villages in Central Anatolia, Black Sea, Aegean, Marmara, Mediterranean and Eastern Anatolia Regions in Turkey with face to face discussions and 141 questionnaires have already been collected. It was found that Cronbach Alpha was found to be quite reliable as the result of the analysis with a scale value of 0.785. Reasons for migration as a result of factor analysis can be classified as: 1) Migration due to education, 2) Migrations based on physical infrastructure. Numerous independent variables considered to be effective on these problems were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. As a result, it has been determined that many factors, mainly demographic qualities, are effective on migrations based on both education and physical infrastructure.

This article deals with the results of study of species content and basic peculiarities of beaked mites-Phytoseiidae in plant associations of one of the regional centers of Ukraine. The species composition and distribution of mites-Phytoseiidae (Parasitiformes, Phytoseiidae) in plantations of Brovary town of Kyiv region were determined. Fourteen species of 8 genera of phytoseiid mites were found. Index of their existing and relative biotope connection of each registered species to vegetation types and plant species were computed. The study was conducted according to the results of material treatment on the territory of the mentioned city from 25 species of plants (16 species of hardy-shrub and 9 of herbaceous vegetations). The studies of distribution of plant-living mites-Phytoseiidae were conducted separately for hardy-shrub and herbaceous plants). The collection of faunistic material was executed during the vegetation of periods of 2011 and 2013. Within the city the collection of the material was conducted with hardy-shrub plants and herbaceous type of vegetation along the streets, in parks and squares of Brovary city of Kyiv region, district center, one of the satellite-cities of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The study of species complexes characteristics of mites was conducted with usage of data calculated on the basis of frequency index (Is), degree of relative habitat confinedness (F) (Pesenko, 1982) and domination index Paliy-Kovnatski (Di) (Shitikov, 2003). Only on one species of plant (F=1) 6 species of mites-Phytoseiidae were found – T.сotoneastri on blue spruce, T. laurae – on common spruce, T. aceri – on ash-leaved maple, P. incognitus – on dog-rose, P. soleiger – on mulberry-tree, A. caudiglans – on sea-buckthorn. These species can be related to stenoecic. The mentioned species are stenotopic only in relation to the sample of plants from the plant associations of Brovary, as in other regions these species of mites can populate the other species of plants. The rest 8 species, being registered on two or more types of plants, are related to euryoecic. Among them there is a group of 6 species with “positive tendencies to population of plants”, owning the indicators of habitat confinedness 0<F<1: A. andersoni (0,92–0,96), A. rademacheri (0,85–0,96), N. herbarius (0,92–0,96), T. tiliarum (0,66–0,77), A. pirianykae (0,73–0,99), A. clavata (0,82–0,98). The rest species, E. finlandicus и K. aberrans, have the expanded range of indicators in relation to habitat confinedness (-0,71<F<0,55 и -0,16<F<0,88), that specifies on their ability to populate the big quality of species. E. finlandicus has the negative indicator of relative habitat confinedness in relation to the plants of herbaceous morphotype that serves confirmation of the ecological peculiarity of the species detected earlier. The data of relative habitat confinedness of mites to certain species of plants shows availability of stenoecic (T.сotoneastri, T. laurae, T. aceri, P. incognitus, P. soleiger, A. caudiglans) and euryoecic species (A. andersoni, A. rademacheri, N. herbarius, E. finlandicus, K. aberrans, T. tiliarum, A. pirianykae, A. clavata).

Palavras-chave: recursos hídricos; gestão ambiental; desenvolvimento rural  The Springs as Supply Source of Rural Diffuse Population  ABSTRACTThe universalization of the water supply in Brazil is still a challenge that it seeks to be supplant, especially in relation to the service to rural diffuse population, where conventional systems do not respond to the demands of farming families dispersed. In this context, the water springs may contribute as a workaround for domestic supply, because they are close to consumption and under user control. This is evidenced in the study of springs located at Settlement Serra Grande, located in the city of Vitória de Santo Antão, Zona da Mata de Pernambuco. It has been identified, registered and selected perennial springs, to characterize the quality and water flow, aiming to evaluate them for multiple uses with priority to domestic supply. It was evident that the flow even during drought periods, has potential to meet the basic needs of farmers, for drinking, preparing meals, baths, wash utensils and clothes and flushing toilets. As for the quality for home use, generally water meets health limits although in some cases the presence of Escherichia coli, requires careful recovery of the source and chlorination of water. According to the results, the production of water in springs located in soils and climate prevailing in Zona da Mata of Brazilian northeastern, it allows to meet basic needs for domestic supply from family farmers in small villages or isolated rural villages, being an alternative to conventional supply, already identified by the federal government in their recent plans for the supply of rural diffuse population.  Keywords: water resources; environmental management; rural development
