Abstract Olin C197 is a second-generation high performance alloy developed by Olin Brass. It has a strength and bend formability similar to C194 (see Alloy Digest Cu-360, September 1978), but with 25% higher electrical and thermal conductivity. High conductivity allows C197 to replace brasses and bronzes in applications where high current-carrying capability is required. Also, the strength of C197 provides higher contact forces when substituted for many lower strength coppers. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion and wear resistance as well as forming and joining. Filing Code: CU-627. Producer or source: Olin Brass.

Abstract ISO 185/JL/225 is an intermediate-tensile-strength gray cast iron that has a predominantly pearlitic matrix, and a tensile strength of 225–325 MPa (33-47 ksi), when determined on test pieces machined from separately cast, 30 mm (1.2 in.) diameter test bars. Compared with the lower strength gray cast iron grades, ISO 185/JL/225 contains lower carbon and silicon contents, while still maintaining excellent thermal conductivity, damping capacity, and machinability. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, tensile properties, and compressive strength as well as fatigue. It also includes information on heat treating. Filing Code: CI-73. Producer or source: International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Abstract JESSOP JS17Cr-4Ni is a martensitic, precipitation-hardening chromium-nickel-copper stainless steel. It provides an excellent combination of high strength and hardness, short-time low-temperature precipitation hardening and good mechanical properties at temperatures up to 600 F (316 C). Its corrosion resistance is quite good but inferior to lower strength grades produced for corrosion-resistance applications. JS17Cr-4Ni is used widely for critical applications in the aerospace, chemical, food processing and other industries. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SS-412. Producer or source: Jessop Steel Company.
