Objective: to study the role of personal anxiety in the development of psychophysiological indicators in adolescent athletes.Materials and methods. To study the prevalence of high levels of personal anxiety (hereinafter — LT), as well as to determine the characteristics of psychophysiological indicators, the study involved 23 teenagers — boys and girls who were representatives of different sports. Using the device for psychophysiological testing UPFT-1/30 “Psychophysiologist”, indicators of simple visual-motor reaction and the level of LT on the Spielberg scale were obtained. To assess the impact of changes in high LT levels on psychophysiological indicators, 14 adolescent athletes with a high level of personal anxiety were selected and then divided into 2 groups. The experimental group included adolescents who wanted to participate in an experiment on the use of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to correct high LT levels; the control group included adolescents with high LT levels who were not trained in cognitive behavioral therapy techniques.Results. Every third adolescent athlete had a high level of LT. Adolescent athletes with a high LT level, in contrast to adolescents with an optimal LT level, were less efficient, and, despite a shorter minimum reaction time, made more mistakes. The dynamics of psychophysiological indicators were observed both in the group with intervention and in the group where no cognitive behavioral therapy techniques were performed; however, after studying the difference in the physiological parameters of the central nervous system in the group where there was a change in LT, and in the group where LT either did not change or increased, we found positive changes. Changes in the LT level led to a decrease in the average reaction time, the minimum reaction time, and an increase in the level of stability of reactions.Conclusions. A high level of LT affects the psychophysiological parameters of the central nervous system in adolescent athletes. The use of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to normalize the LT level of adolescent athletes leads to an improvement in the physiological parameters of the central nervous system.

Clinical and neurological, neurophysiological, and neuropsychological examination of 50 patients aged 50–65 y. o. with an experience of COVID‑19 infection within the last 3 to 6 months, revealed pathological changes in the central nervous system in the form of cerebrastenic and autonomic disorders, motor disorders, vestibulopathy symptoms, which occurred in various combinations, with astheno-vegetative syndrome as obligate. Cognitive impairments were detected in 26% of patients; the mental fatigability index was 1.055 ± 0.124; a high level of situational anxiety was noted in 35% of patients, and a high level of personal anxiety in 50 % of patients with the experience of COVID‑19. The study of brain biopotentials revealed moderate diffuse changes (18%) and irritative disorders on the part of hypothalamic (69 %) and diencephalic structures (20%). All of the above may indicate that, regardless of the form of coronavirus infection occurred in humans, i. e., latent, mild, moderate or severe, one of the targets of the pathological impact of COVID‑19 virus is the median structures of the brain responsible for autonomic and cognitive functions. Nevertheless, in our opinion, these disorders are associated not with a direct pathological effect, but are mediated mainly by circulatory disorders in the microcirculatory bed due to endothelial damage and are rather functional disorders on the part of the central nervous system. This provides the grounds for the selection of pathogenetic therapy aimed at stabilizing the functional state of neurons, and one of the drugs of choice may be citicoline (Noocyl), the action of which is associated with reinforcing the cell membrane of the neuron and normalizing bioelectric processes.

Differential antioxidant action is found upon comparison of organ/tissue systems in the human body. In erythrocytes (red blood cells), which transport oxygen and carbon dioxide through the circulatory system, the most important issue is to keep hemoglobin in a functional state that requires maintaining the haem group in ferrous (Fe2+) state. Conversion of oxidized Fe3+ back into Fe2+ in hemoglobin needs a special mechanism involving a tripeptide glutathione, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, and glucose and NADPH as suppliers of reducing power. Fava beans are probably a good resource to make the detox innate system more robust as the pro-oxidant molecules in this food likely induce the upregulation of members of such mechanisms. The central nervous system consumes more oxygen than the majority of human tissues, i.e., 20% of the body’s total oxygen consumption and, therefore, it is exposed to a high level of oxidative stress. This fact, together with the progressive age-related decline in the efficiency of the antioxidant defense system, leads to neuronal death and disease. The innate mechanism operating in the central nervous system is not well known and seems different to that of the erythrocytes. The strategies of antioxidant intervention in brain will be reviewed here.

Pregnant women may experience high levels of stress, including those associated with finding oneself in a new reality. In addition, the new reality is the COVID-19 pandemic, which has contributed to the deterioration of the mental state of many people. Chronic stress can lead to neuroanatomical changes in the mother, but also in her baby. It leads to atrophy of neurons in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, and to the growth and enlargement of the amygdala, i.e. those structures that are responsible for emotions. The mother's emotions also shape the synapses in the fetus, and the neurotransmitters secreted by the mother modify the development of the baby's brain. Research is ongoing in many countries on the consequences of anxiety and depression in pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, it is important to take care of psychological well-being, for example by using the techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy. Support from relatives during pregnancy and childbirth is also an extremely important element in the proper development of the central nervous system of the mother and her child.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of public speaking training with cognitive behavioral therapy towards public speaking anxiety. Another purpose was to examine the difference of this training effectiveness towards both genders, male and female. The training method is appropriate for applying cognitive behavioral approaches because this method aims to change cognition and to train certain behaviors for an individual to the adaptive and better behavior. The purposive sampling is used in this experimental research to obtain 20 samples including 10 males and 10 females sit in the third grade of a senior high class of TrubusIman Islamic Boarding School and have public speaking anxiety in the medium and high level.  The method used quantitative approach for analyzing data. It can be concluded that the training had been effectively minimizing public speaking anxiety but this research could not able show the difference of the training effectiveness among both genders.

Florid or virtuoso études present the challenges of combining and switching between various technical elements, such as arpeggios, scales, slurs, and shifts, at rapid tempi. Of special interest is the brief discussion of “latency” at high speeds, which is applicable to these studies, and how virtuoso players transcend the limits of the central nervous system when initiating a movement or series of movements that must occur in less time than it takes for the signal to move to get from the brain to the hands (100 milliseconds).

Introduction: In solving the problem of preserving and strengthening health of gifted schoolchildren representing the country’s main intellectual potential, the main component is the observance of hygienic requirements for conditions and organization of learning activities in educational establishments for gifted children and adolescents. The purpose of the study was to conduct a prenosological assessment of the health status of gifted adolescents influenced by various educational process factors. Materials and methods: Using hardware and software systems, we assessed the level of physical development, functional status of the central nervous, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems in 300 gifted adolescents in grades 9–11 (15–17 years of age). Results: We established that under the conditions of a boarding school (lyceum), gifted schoolchildren were exposed to such health risk factors as increased study loads, their irrational distribution during the school day and week, and a high level of tension in the educational process (class 3.1). It was proved that the educational process factors affected the functioning of the basic systems of the body of gifted schoolchildren. High study loads of a pronounced degree of tension ensured an improvement of the functional status of the central nervous system of gifted school-age adolescents by stabilizing the nervous reaction, increasing the functional level of the nervous system and the ability of the central nervous system to form the body’s adaptive system when adapting to the factors of the educational process in the in the dynamics of learning. Maintaining a high level of functioning of the central nervous system in gifted school-age adolescents was ensured by the multiparameter interaction of the main body systems, which was characterized by an increase in the functional parameters of the respiratory system, a change in vegetative regulation, and a decrease in the level of biological adaptation. Conclusions: Our findings determine the need for systematic screening of gifted children in educational institutions to identify the level of their prenosological health in order to maintain and increase the adaptive potential of gifted adolescents.

Insomnia disorder is highly prevalent, and has been identified as a risk factor for many psychiatric problems, including depression, suicide ideation and suicide death. Previous studies have found that cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) reduce depression and suicidal ideation in samples with high levels of suicidal ideation. This study aims to investigate associations of CBT-I with suicidal ideation in a sample of 522 patients primarily seeking internet-delivered treatment for insomnia in regular psychiatric care. The sample had high pretreatment insomnia severity levels and a relatively high level of comorbid depression symptoms. Suicidal ideation levels were relatively low pretreatment but still improved significantly after CBT-I. Contrary to previous findings, the strongest predictor of changes in suicidal ideation were improvements in depressive symptoms, rather than improvements in insomnia. We conclude that suicidal ideation may not be a major problem in these patients primarily seeking treatment for insomnia, despite comorbid depressive symptoms, but that suicidal ideation still improves following CBT-i. Considering the increased risk for patients with untreated insomnia to develop depression, this finding is of interest for prevention of suicidal ideation.

The brain requires certain fuels to function in high level. Literally, nutritional components can modulate the brain productivity. One of the right nutrition to enhance the brain power is dietary component of caffeine. Caffeine as a component of coffee, tea and chocolate is very popular. Although, depending on the dietary demands or conventional habits some people do not consume caffeine-containing substances (i.e. foods or beverage). Nonetheless, caffeine constituents maximize the brain potential via promoting the central nervous system (CNS) through blocking an inhibitory neurotransmitter (adenosine) and releasing some other specific neurotransmitters (noradrenaline, dopamine and serotonin) in brain. The chemistry of caffeine in a standard dose in fact can affect the brain intelligence.
