Purpose: This study examined the relationship between strategic sensitivity and corporate responsiveness of fast moving consumer goods companies in Rivers State, Nigeria.  Methodology: The study adopted a cross sectional survey research design. The population of this study was nine (9) fast moving consumer goods companies in Rivers State.  Since the unit of analysis was at organizational level, only strategic managers were included. Five managers each were used for each company giving a total of 45 respondents. Census was adopted because the population was small. Primary data was collected using a 5-point Likert scaled questionnaire. The reliability of the instrument was achieved by the use of the Cronbach Alpha coefficient with all the items scoring above 0.70. The hypotheses were tested using the Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation Coefficient with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 23.0. The tests were carried out at a 95% confidence interval and a 0.05 level of significance. After data cleaning, only data for 38 respondents were used for data analysis. Findings: The findings revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between strategic sensitivity and corporate responsiveness of fast moving consumer goods companies in Rivers State, Nigeria. Specifically, strategic foresight and strategic insight were significantly and positively correlated with corporate responsiveness of fast moving consumer goods companies in Rivers State, Nigeria. Recommendation: The study recommends that fast moving consumer goods companies should build its capabilities of strategic foresight in examining the dynamic business environment and should constantly and proactively scan for opportunities and threats, in addition to strategies for lowering or reducing cost of production compare to other competitors.

Advertising developed mainly in twentieth century. The development of technology and research brought sophistication in advertising in recent decades. It has developed significantly after Second World War. After 1950, television became the important medium of advertising. Advertising business changed with the business environment. It is rarely a stable business. Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) are more in demand and frequently purchased by customers. These goods include all Consumable goods (other than pulses and grains) and consumers buy at regular intervals in small quantities. SWOT Analysis applied to measures the Advertising Strategy of FMCG Sector. Both Primary and Secondary sources of data were utilized for the study. Primary data was collected by means of administering a questionnaire to the customers and advertising manager. Secondary data had been collected from various publications, periodicals, journals, etc. Convenience sampling technique was used for the survey. Questionnaire filled by the selected respondents. The sample size selected is 200. The study concluded that the companies are used the media as a mode of promotion for the FMCG products and tough competition is being faced by the company in market, media planners should be more careful in giving message to the customers.

This study investigated the influence ofknowledge management lifecycle on organisational decision making of paint manufacturing companies in Rivers State. The study was operationalized with the dimensions of knowledge management lifecycle as knowledge identification, knowledge creation, knowledge storage and knowledge transfer. Organizational decision making was measured by timeliness and cost effectiveness.The target population of this study is all 51 registered paint manufacturing companies in Rivers State. Purposive sampling was used to select a sample of 90 respondents from 30 selected manufacturing companies in Rivers State. The study used cross-sectional survey approach and descriptive research design.The study was guided by five research questions and ten research hypotheses. Questionnaires were the major instrument used in gathering primary data which were analyzed using correlational analyses. The questionnaire used was subjected to face/content validity, this was done to ascertain the validity of the questionnaires to be administered. The scale used for this study had been previously adjudged reliable. However, we also checked by verifying reliability outcomes through confirmatory test of internal consistency on the instrument with our sample using Cronbach alpha at the threshold level 0.7 which is generally accepted by the rule of thumb. Data was analyzed and results presented in tables, mean and standard deviation. And, finally hypotheses were tested using the Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient. The study found that knowledge management lifecycle significantly impact on organisational decision making. The study recommends that in order for paint manufacturing companies in Rivers State to maintain their hedge in this high rivalry economy, they should pay more attention to how knowledge within the organisation are effectively managed as this will facilitate an effective time management and cost optimisation within the organisation.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of inventory management systems on supply chain performance of fast-moving consumer goods manufacturers in KenyaMethodology: The study adopted descriptive research design. The unit of observation was the operations manager of the 51 FMCG manufacturers located in Nairobi. The sampling frame of the current study consisted of operations managers in the manufacturers of the FMCGs in Nairobi. The study used the census method to select 51 manufacturers of the FMCGs in Nairobi, thus the sample of the study was 51 respondents. Primary data was used in the study. The study used questionnaires to collect data. Mixed methods technique of analyzing data was used where both descriptive and inferential analysis were used. The data collected from the field was analyzed using SPSS 23 program. The questionnaires were referenced and the items in them coded for easier data entry. The presentation of the findings was done using tables.Results: The study found that inventory management systems positively and significantly influences Supply chain performance of FMCG in Kenya. The study found that respondents agreed that inventory management systems promotes improved supplier, vendor, and partner relationships; inventory management systems enables the company to maintain a centralized record of every asset; inventory management systems helps in reduction in storage costs; inventory management systems helps to keep track on current stock levels which enables the company to reorder with greater accuracy; and that inventory management systems promotes better reporting and forecasting capabilities.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommended that the recommends the company to adopt new technology (updated inventory management system) to ensure that the processes in the company are efficient; this can be achieved by upgrading operation standards and implementation of new technology and software. Because of technological itches, it is possible for the company to lose data, therefore it is recommended that the company should always have backup of inventory data.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the problems of the sustainable development, to explore the level of innovation in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing SMMEs sectors, which most affects on the state of the environment, to identify the causes of low innovation in the industry and to examine these factors influence on the effectiveness of SMMEs manufacturers innovation strategies, as well as to invent a new innovation strategic approach to overcome innovation problems in the economic growth of fast moving consumer goods SMMEs manufacturers. The study is aimed to determine the level of innovation and factors contributing to low innovation in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) SMMEs manufacturers, which hinder their economic performance. Mixed approach of quantitative and qualitative questionnaire is used for primary data collection. Sample consists of 120 SMMEs. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) (23.0) was employed for data analysis. The study results are presented with figures and diagrams. This study will be a useful tool for general public and relevant stakeholders in this sector.


Sourcing function has become a crucial activity in any organization from recent decades because total supply chain effectiveness of any organization is achieved mainly through efficient sourcing function. Therefore, the study aimed to findout the determinants affecting on strategic sourcing and the impact of each determinant. The study population was targeted to those who are engaged in sourcing of five top ranked players in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry in Sri Lanka. A sample of 300 respondents were considered under stratified sampling method. Through a factor analysis, five factors have been identified as the determinants of strategic sourcing. The identified factors are, supplier’s reliability and Quality, supplier’s Business Environment, supplier’s sustainability, cost advantage and Customer Responsiveness. A linear regression analysis was undertaken to distinguish the impact of each identified determinant on strategic sourcing.

Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between procedural justice and organizational citizenship behaviour in Deposit Money Banks in Rivers State. The effects of procedural justice was tested on organizational citizenship behaviour measures such as altruism and sportsmanship.Methodology: The study adopted a cross sectional survey design and data was generated from 193 respondents from the target Deposit Money Banks in Rivers State. As a quantitative study, the primary data collection instrument for the study was the structured questionnaire. The test for the reliability for the instrument was carried out using the Cronbach alpha reliability instrument with a reliability threshold of 0.70. The Analysis comprised of the univariate (single variable assessments) bivariate (test for hypothetical relationships) while the bivariate analysis was carried out using the Spearman’s rank order correlation coefficient at a 0.05 level of significance.Findings: Findings from the study revealed that workplace justice significantly impacts on the measures of OCB (altruism and sportsmanship) and also organizational culture was revealed to also significantly moderate the relationship between workplace justice and organizational citizenship behaviour in Deposit Money Banks in Rivers State. Based on the findings, it was concluded that there is significant relationship between the predictor and the measures of the criterion variables.Contribution to practice and Policy: The study recommended that OCB within an organization could be significantly increased by enhancing organizational fairness, particularly procedural justice. Bank managers should first improve the procedural justice and hence increase overall levels of perceived justice by involving employees in the procedures used in making decisions and allocating rewards

This study examined the relationship between technological changes and organizational growth in deposit money banks in Rivers State. The study adopted the cross-sectional survey design to elicit response from staff of the identified deposit money banks in Rivers State. Primary data was collected using self-administered questionnaire. The population of the study comprised all the 16 deposit money banks in Port Harcourt. Using a multi-stage sampling technique, 96 staff were selected as the sample of the study. Since the banks had few permanent staff, convenient and census frame were adopted to determine the number of staff per bank. Thus, using the simple stratified random sampling technique the staff were categorized into three cadres-Top management, IT Personnel and Cashiers/Tellers from which staff were randomly selected from each cadre amounting 6 staff from each bank. The reliability was attained using test-re-test and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient analysis with all items having a reliability index above 0.70. The Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient (rho) was used in testing the hypotheses. The study revealed that there is a positive significant relationship between technological changes and organizational growth. This implies that the various developments in ICT have positive and significant influence on organizational growth. It, therefore, concluded that organizational growth in deposit money banks can be improved by the application of the various innovations and devices generated in the various stages of technological changes. The study, therefore, more attention be directed towards the use of ICTs in banking operations in deposit money banks in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, since the banking industry serve as a lubricant to the cog of the wheel of the nation’s economy.

Purpose: This study examined the relationship between opportunity-sensing capability and corporate vitality of domestic airlines in Nigeria. Materials and Methods: The study adopted an explanatory cross sectional survey research design which was carried out at the organizational level of analysis. The population of this study was the nine (9) operational scheduled domestic airline operators in Nigeria.  The managers involved were: Station Manager, Cabin Service Manager, Director of Airline Services, Operations Manager and Regional Manager. The study adopted the entire population as a census. The reliability of the instrument was ascertained using the Cronbach alpha reliability instrument with all items scoring above 0.70. The Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient was utilized to establish the level of relationship as hypothesized with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 23.0. Results: Findings from the study revealed a strong positive significant relationship between sensing capability and corporate vitality of domestic airlines in Nigeria. It was concluded that when domestic airlines in Nigeria deploy their opportunity sensing capability it enhances the corporate vitality especially in the dynamic business environment. Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: It was recommended, that there is need for domestic airlines to have more business forums in order to understand the changing trends within their business operational environment and detect fundamental shifts in their industry. They should look for opportunities to improve the ways in which new knowledge is acquired, analyzed, interpreted and distributed, as well as utilized in making good corporate decisions.
