Introduction. Given the current complex realities of conducting aviation business in a pandemic, the application of large-scale measures to combat its spread, as well as taking into account the development of liberalization of the air market, analysis of the effectiveness of Ukrainian airlines and identify current trends in Ukraine's air transportation market is an important task. The purpose of the paper is to investigate state of air transportation market in Ukraine in dynamics, to identify current trends and status of national airlines. Results. After the recession of 2014-2015, the volume of international passenger traffic by domestic airlines increased during the period 2016-2019. In 2020, it decreased by 76 %. At the same time, passenger traffic of Ukrainian airlines decreased by 65 % compared to 2019. Over the past five years, Ukraine’s air transportation market has evolved from highly concentrated to moderately concentrated. During this period, domestic airlines were more active in carrying out charter flights, while foreign airlines began to dominate in performing regular and scheduled flights with active participation of leading European low-cost airlines. Analysis of the market share of airlines with the largest volumes of passenger air traffic in air market of Ukraine showed that over past three years there has been a rapid decline in market shares of leading network airlines, both domestic and foreign. There was a rapid growth of market shares of foreign airlines – low-cost carriers. Conclusions. The changes identified in the air transportation market of Ukraine can be explained not only by the consequences of the pandemic, but also by the consequences of air transportation market liberalization. The signing of the Agreement on the Common Aviation Area in September 2021 between Ukraine and the EU will have a direct impact on the development of air transportation market of Ukraine, both in terms of supply and demand. Domestic airlines will be able to benefit from market liberalization only if they increase their competitiveness.

It is known that an aircraft generates income for the operating airline only when it is in the air. Being on the ground, at the airport, airlines incur high costs for aerodrome maintenance of the aircraft. The longer the aircraft is stationary on the ground, the shorter the actual flight time of the aircraft. In this regard, the possibility of implementing one of the promising principles for the creation and effective operation of modifications of aircraft of the transport category - the modular principle - has been analyzed. The prospects for the implementation of modular modifications in domestic airlines in the context of further development of the market economy are considered. Modifications based on the implementation of the modular principle are classified into two types - created in the form of autonomous modules placed in the fuselage during aircraft operation and in the form of a removable modular compartment of the aircraft fuselage. A review and analysis of existing projects of these types of modular constructive and technological solutions, a comparison of their advantages and disadvantages in the technical and economic aspects of the prospects for their feasibility are carried out. The possibility of effective implementation of the modular principle of modifications of aircraft of the transport category was assessed, for which a generalized analysis of domestic and foreign information related to the state of the problem under discussion was carried out, on the basis of which an enlarged block diagram of a comprehensive methodology for analyzing the efficiency of operation of modular modifications in the air transportation system was synthesized in comparison with traditional (existing). The key aspects of the content of the main blocks of the scheme are revealed, including the main provisions of the maintenance and repair of aircraft in modern conditions of their operation, based on foreign experience, as well as the main aspects of the content of the blocks for accounting for weight losses in the design and implementation of traditional and modular modifications of aircraft. The generalized information related to the implementation of the synthesized block diagram, focused on subsequent addition, should form the basis of compliance methods and regulatory documentation in the design and implementation of promising domestic modifications of aircraft of the transport category.

In recent years domestic airlines are improving their services, and the major airlines in Nigeria are ahead of others based on superior strategies; in fact, some airlines are not fully utilized, which affects their profitability, while others are highly utilized. Market dynamics and regulatory forces are the key variables that influence airline attributes, features, and developments, but this is most evident where each airline competes for passengers despite the different route choices and airports of departure. This study aimed to examine the significant variables that are currently influencing air travelers’ preference for domestic airlines in Nigeria. Primary data were obtained through systematic and random sampling of air passengers, and a questionnaire was employed for data analysis. In Lagos and Abuja airports, 757 and 682 questionnaires were administered respectively with 71.1% and 61.9% returned respectively. Regression analysis was utilized to analyze the primary data. The study found that time, safety, and fare are the most influencing factors determining passenger choice of domestic airlines in Nigeria. The current findings are crucial for policymaking, particularly during the phase of airline planning and management especially during the Covid-19 pandemic era that has challenged the economic buoyancy and the purchasing power of passengers.

The coronavirus pandemic has turned the aviation industry on its head, transforming the passenger experience drastically. The airlines have faced significant challenges due to both the Covid-19 pandemic, the sequence of lockdowns and the provisions of safety and security legislation. There is more concern about the growing feeling that passengers are aware of the level of service. Airlines not only need to focus on service quality in today's highly competitive air transport environment, but also need to focus more on safety and security issues, especially at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research related to these dimensional studies becomes more important in the COVID-19 scenario. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine the impact of service quality dimensions on the overall quality of service of domestic airlines in Nepal in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. A quantitative methodology with a descriptive and explanatory research design was adopted in the study. A sample of 200 passengers recently travelling after the lockdown and reopening of the domestic airline service has been contacted. Out of which 160 responded to the questionnaire. In the sense of COVID-19 post lockdown operations, the service quality of domestic airlines is affected by various factors. All the likely factors that influence the quality of airlines need to be considered by airlines. Reliability, assurance, tangibility, empathy, and responsiveness are the variables. All these aspects play an important role in providing passengers with a reliable service. The dimensions of reliability, tangibility and responsiveness need to concentrate more on having the standard of service as desired in the sense of COVID-19 by domestic airlines in Nepal. It means that during COVID-19 and similar situations, tangibility must concentrate on the highest level of operation.
