INTRODUCTION. The guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2009 regarding hand hygiene (HH) in health care provided health care professionals with scientific evidence that argued that HH principles should be respected when dealing with patients. Despite the passage of years and strenuous attempts to introduce these recommendations to the Polish health care facilities for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAI), these principles are still not being implemented in an optimal way for the patient’s safety. OBJECTIVE OF WORK. The aim was to examine the views and attitudes of physicians (L) and nurses (P) towards the WHO rules of hand hygiene. MATERIAL AND METHODS. The study was performed by means of a diagnostic survey using a questionnaire of our own design; random sampling was used. The study involved 231 LP: 173 (74.9%) women, 58 (25.1%) men, including 93 (40.3%) doctors and 138 (59.7%) nurses. The study was conducted in a multiprofile hospital in Małopolska in 2017. The difference between what the respondents think (their views) and what they do in reality (what attitudes they display) was examined in relation to WHO principles, such as wearing natural short nails and jewelry on their hands. RESULTS. Negative practice of observing these HH principles in relation to views was detected (R = -0.014, p<0.05, R2 = 0.016). Respondents supported the view that the ring could affect HAI and rarely used it in practice, the practice was positive (R = 0.298, p <0.001, R2 = 0.085). Women strongly emphasized the view that wearing long nails has an impact on HAI spread, but in practice they often declared keeping long nails, practice was negative (R = -0.241, p <0.01, R2 = 0.054). In response to the question about the impact of nail painting on the spread of HAI, this view was poorly represented, in practice some of them wore painted nails, the practice was negative (R = -0.226, p <0.01, R2 = 0.045). CONCLUSION. Despite high support for the principles of hand hygiene, in practice, these principles were not always respected, the impact on the practice was negative in areas such as: general adherence to the HH principles, wearing long and painted nails. The compatibility of views with practice was detected in relation to wearing a wedding ring.

Maternal and child health care has been a big challenge in Indonesia. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused considerable restrictions to maternal and newborn healthcare services. Consequently, community health services faced changes in policies such as limiting antenatal care visits, which resulted in irregular health examination for pregnant women. Therefore, this study aims to examine the frequency of the village midwives’ house visits during the COVID-19 pandemic and the appropriate routine examination of pregnant women. This is an observational study conducted from March to late October 2020. Data were collected in Pinrang sub-district of South Sulawesi using cluster random sampling targeted at pregnant women in six villages. The Chi square test was used to identify possible association between both variables. Out of the 63 pregnant women who participated in this study, more than 54% reported to have been visited and received medical examinations. The results shows that there is a significant relationship between the number of visits and appropriate examination with p value 0.04 and potential risk OR 4.860 (95% CI: 0.956 to 24.703). The village midwives’ visitation frequency was quite high during the COVID-19 but a potential risk was recorded for pregnant women who had incomplete routine examination. Therefore, there is need for collaborative effort between the local government and related sectors to improve maternal home health care services.

BACKGROUND mHealth is a broad term for the use of mobile communication devices for healthcare services delivery. The use of mobile devices by health care professionals (HCPs) has transformed many aspects of clinical training and practice. However, there are still gaps in knowledge concerning patient perception of the use of mHealth technologies by HCP during secondary care consultations. OBJECTIVE To explore the impact on patient experience and implications for consultation outcomes and treatment adherence. Introduction of new technological application into interactions that have very set expectations and roles and possibility for attendant disruption of patient expectations. METHODS This paper explores, via in-depth interviews, patient opinions regarding the usage of mHealth applications by health care professionals (HCPs) during consultations, identifying the paradoxes and coping behaviors to deal with those paradoxes. This qualitative study recruited ten respondents using purposive sampling and snowballing techniques through in-depth interviews. RESULTS The results comprise paradoxes and coping behaviors. They showed that convenience, time savings, accuracy of diagnosis and reduction of errors are the important elements for using mHealth for both HCP and patient. In addition, respondents perceived that mobile health apps facilitate HCP engagement of patients and assist explanations and better patient understanding. Interaction and the quality of the interaction were acknowledged as significant in HCP-patient communication and patient compliance with treatment. CONCLUSIONS To sum, many patients were responsive to the idea of mHealth, both by the doctor and themselves, but wanted to have regulation of use of apps, better involvement and explanations and not have the doctor lose focus on the patient, that is, the feeling of personalized treatment. They also were worried that the HCP might seem to ignore the patient or withdraw from the type of interaction that makes the consultation ‘human.’

AbstractIntegrative review of literature that aims to characterize the bibliographic productions about Health Care Networks in Brazil between the period of 2005 and 2015. The search of the articles, collected in January of 2016, included the terms “Health Care Networks” and “Delivery of Health Care”, on Health Library Virtual portal. An entire of 16 publications that were related to the proposed theme were selected and divided into two thematic discussions: “The impact produced by Networks on health care system” and “The participation of different sectors and people to the Networks establishment”. The articles discuss about the potential that an operationalized system in Networks dynamics can bring to health care as well as reveal the importance of the education sector involvement concerning the construction and consolidation of the same, due to their remarkable importance when it comes to theformation process of future health professionals. The publication also demonstrates several difficulties achieving this care model, which arise from the lack of awareness and accession to the model by the subjects that act directly or indirectly on the Health System, including professional, students, professors and managers. A limited number of scientific articles were found which shows the need to expand the researches in this area. Keywords: Health Care Networks. Health Delivery. Health Education.
