Racial transformation is crucial for South African higher education institutions, the accounting profession and the country as a whole. Consequently, determinants of students’ academic success must be at the forefront of accounting education research. Understanding these determinants will assist universities to better assist students with their learning. This study focused on self-efficacy in academic performance—a previously limited research area in South African accounting education. The aim was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic performance amongst students registered in a second-year undergraduate course for an accounting degree at a South African university. It was found that self-efficacy was moderately positively correlated with academic performance. The findings indicate that it is worthwhile performing further empirical research on self-efficacy, especially while controlling for other significant factors affecting students’ academic performance.

The South African accounting profession needs racial transformation. Consequently, students pursuing the chartered accountant (South Africa) (CA(SA)) designation, especially at-risk Black students, require adequate support. To be successful, the support must be driven by factors influencing students’ academic performance. As prior academic performance is one such factor, this study examines the relationship between the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams and the National Benchmark Test (NBT) for students enrolled in an accounting degree at a South African university. Due to numerous moderate and strong correlations between NSC and NBT results, without multicollinearity, it was concluded that both sets of results should be considered as factors contributing to students’ academic performance. The findings highlight the need for further empirical research on NSC and NBT results as determinants of success for accounting students.

<p>In this paper, the association between religiosity and academic performance among accounting students enrolled at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is explored, as recent research demonstrates a positive association between religiosity and academic success. Students' religiosity was measured using proxies from an Islamic perspective, whilst their academic performances were measured using their Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPA). The statistical analysis revealed no significant correlation between religiosity and academic performance among accounting students at IIUM. However, a closer examination of the results revealed that students at IIUM possessed high levels of religiosity as well as high levels of academic performances.</p>

The purpose of this study was to look into the various factors that influence the academic performance of freshmen and sophomores at Hufi University in Ho Chi Minh City. This study's participants were professors (30 males &amp; 44 females). Using a questionnaire, a study was performed to collect information on various variables related to student academic success. The results of the annual assessment of their students measured academic success. According to the findings of the research, there is a close association between undergraduate and learning outcomes. However, there is little research on the relationship between psychological facets of the student body and academic success in Vietnam at the moment. Meanwhile, research into this partnership would aid HuFi University in further understanding the fundamental problems in student psychology, al-lowing it to develop the requisite activation plans to improve student efficacy as well as the school's training performance. With nearly 54,000 students, Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry is the largest main school in the South. With the student's latest academic performance being just average, students ranked the lowest in terms of putting their newly acquired experience and skills into work. This demonstrates that the school does not properly match the expertise and skills students learn with what life requires of them, resulting in human capital that is incapable of fulfilling potential socioeconomic growth criteria. A period of global economic integration, As a result, to contribute to the university's improvement as a school with a long tradition of experience.

College students are sleeping less during the week than reported a few years ago. Lack of sleep among college students has been identified as one of the top three healthrelated impediments to academic performance by the American College Health Association’s National College Health Assessment survey; and it is associated with lower grades, incompletion of courses, as well as negative moods. This research examines the underlying dynamics of lack of sleep on academic motivation, a key predictor of academic performance. Specifically, the relationship of sleep habits with self-efficacy, performance versus mastery goal orientation, persistence, and tendency to procrastinate were investigated. Findings indicate that 42% of the participants (159 students out of a total of 377) experience excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS); and those identified with EDS tend: (1) to be motivated by performance goals rather than mastery goals; (2) to engage in procrastination (a self-handicapping strategy) to a greater extent than students who are rested; and (3) to have decreased self-efficacy, as compared to students not reporting EDS. Several recommendations for campus health professionals to consider for a Healthy Campus Initiative are made based on the findings.

This study seek to highlight the impact of foreign languages proficiency on academic performance of accounting students, in the context of finding methods that would improve Algeria’s accounting education, to obtain the study results the descriptive, analytical methods have been followed, and survey have been distributed on 30 student male/female from accounting field in Jijel university. We came to that languages proficiency significantly improve scientific production of accounting students while it does not affect their learning and professional integration in Algerian environment.

The use of selection, diagnostic, proficiency, placement, admission, manual dexterity and aptitude tests can reportedly predict students’ academic success. Predictive admission procedures help to reduce dropout rates, improve academic performance, increase success rates, and selectively exclude applicants who are unlikely to be successful in the course. There is an absence of research, however, in this area of work in Dental Technology. To examine the association between pre-admission assessments and Dental Technology students’ academic performance in a South African University of Technology. A quantitative and cross-sectional study design was used. The target populations were the 2018 and 2019 first-year Dental Technology students. Retrospective data extracted from academic records and programme files were statistically analysed to measure the correlations against students’academic performance. Despite there being no significant differences between pre-admission tests and students’ academic performance, there were significant positive correlations between first year university subjects. There are indications of horizontal coherence between the discipline-specific subjects in the first-year Dental Technology curriculum. Examining the association between pre-admission tests and students’ academic results through to graduation, together with the horizontal and vertical alignments of all subjects in the undergraduate Dental Technology curriculum, can facilitate the learning pathways for students to succeed academically at universities.

This research aims to determine the relationship between the computer use related self-efficacy perceptions and academic success of conservatory students in distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sample group of the study consists of 130 students who received distance education at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University State Conservatory during the COVID-19 pandemic. The quantitative data of the study were obtained via the "Computer Self-Efficacy Perception Scale" developed by Aşkar and Umay, and the academic success scores were obtained through correspondence with the conservatory administration. The demographic characteristics of the participants including gender, branch, age, and class information in the sample group were collected through a form prepared by the researcher. SPSS 21.0 program was used in the analysis of the research data. The data was analysed using a t-test, ANOVA and correlation and regression analyses. According to the results of the research, there is a positive, significant, and moderate relationship between conservatory students' computer self-efficacy perceptions and their academic success scores in distance education. The current study revealed that conservatory students' computer self-efficacy perceptions are a predictor of the academic success scores in distance education and can explain 30.2% of the academic success score. Gender, branch, age, and class variables do not have a significant effect on academic success scores and computer self-efficacy perceptions.
