<p>The development of Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM) focuses (among other uses) on the adaptation of the BIM methodology to the historical building’s features, as well as on increasing geometric accuracy and on model data enrichment. Regarding the first issue, it can be underlined, on the one hand, that historical buildings are the result of a sequence of transformations that take place throughout their whole history; they cannot be considered as unitary objects that have been created in a single moment. Therefore, they have a temporal sequence which can be understood as the essence of their evolving nature. On the other hand, historical architecture has different construction materials and techniques, with other kinds of features and pathological processes that are quite different from those of contemporary buildings. In this line, this study proposes a new workflow that allows outlining new criteria that include both the temporal sequence and the constructive features of historical buildings. For this purpose, the case study of the Real Colegiata of San Isidoro in León (Spain) has been considered. In order to create the model, several modelling strategies have been used to compare both the results and the time spent in this task. Then, the model has been divided into several parts, both in terms of constructive criteria and temporal stratification, and thus, the database and the implemented information have been organized following such essential aspects of the historical building. Finally, to provide an advanced and more efficient use of the information, customized queries have been created using Dynamo, allowing searching with combined criteria and the isolation and visualization of the resulting elements. This could be helpful for both research and conservation and management activities.</p><p><strong>Highlights:</strong></p><ul><li><p>A comparison of modelling strategies applied to historical buildings taking into consideration their singularities and estimation of required times and benefits.</p></li><li><p>The division and taxonomy of the model to incorporate both the temporal sequence and the constructive aspects, allowing enrichment of the HBIM model with customized parameters.</p></li><li><p>The development of queries generated in Dynamo to allow customized and combined searches of data, optimizing the use of the database.</p></li></ul>

Analyses of gaps in processing of raw laser scanning data and results of bridging the gaps discovered on the basis of usage of laser scanning data for historic building information modelling are presented. Some results of the development of a unified hybrid technology for the processing, storage, access and visualization of combined laser scanning and photography data about historical buildings are analyzed. The first result of the technology application to historical building of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University shows the robustness of the approaches proposed.

Knowledge is fundamental to understand the key characteristics of a heritage building. Furthermore, constructive analysis of a historical construction is central to research into its structural behavior. This work aims to increase the knowledge level of a historical construction by the understanding of the constructive evolution through Historical-Building Information Modeling (H-BIM) workflow. The research proposes a multidisciplinary approach applicable to the field of historical constructions, which is resumed in the followings steps: historical-critical analysis, material and soil characterization, data organization through H-BIM, qualitative static and dynamic structural analysis, validation of the results. The building of Quartel da Tropa – located in Florianópolis, Brazil – is used as a practical case study to show how the proposed research can be adapted to historical buildings. Such an impressive eighteen-century masonry construction is the largest troop barracks among Brazilian fortifications. The proposed approach allows the creation of a structural model from the architectural model with fewer uncertainties and less simplification, improving the knowledge path of historical constructions and its structural assessment. The historical-critical analysis and the H-BIM allow managing and presenting of the information useful to the understanding of the constructive phase evolution of a historical building.

This paper takes the historical and cultural area of Tanhualin in Wuchang District as an example, from the historical construction present situation, the value of historical architecture, discusses three aspects of the historical building protection measures, and finally draws the conclusion: historical building protection needs to emphasize on protection, do repair old as before, to protect the culture at the same time also should pay attention to regain its vitality, achieve sustainable development, and carefully reconsider historical buildings in the present age, the function of space positioning.

This paper proposes CulTO, a software tool relying on a computational ontology for Cultural Heritage domain modelling, with a specific focus on religious historical buildings, for supporting cultural heritage experts in their investigations. It is specifically thought to support annotation, automatic indexing, classification and curation of photographic data and text documents of historical buildings. CULTO also serves as a useful tool for Historical Building Information Modeling (H-BIM) by enabling semantic 3D data modeling and further enrichment with non-geometrical information of historical buildings through the inclusion of new concepts about historical documents, images, decay or deformation evidence as well as decorative elements into BIM platforms. CulTO is the result of a joint research effort between the Laboratory of Surveying and Architectural Photogrammetry “Luigi Andreozzi” and the PeRCeiVe Lab (Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision Lab) of the University of Catania,

<span lang="EN-GB">Cultural heritage is a complex ecosystem requiring innovative methods and techniques to facilitate its restoration, management and valorization. In detail, restoration processes have to preserve the original characteristics of historical buildings or sites, by involving different professional figures, each one with different roles, responsibilities and skills. In this light, a system that facilitates the information management, supported by new technologies, could allow more precise, efficient and traceable information exchange and could optimize the construction and management operative phase. Starting from these assumptions, the research proposes the application of a new integrated approach to a  restoration process of a historical building. It consists of applying Business Process Management (BPM) approach and Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology to provide valuable insights to optimize the data flow, to gather information and to share knowledge during the restoration process, by  optimizing the whole lifecycle management process, by facilitating the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance. All these aspects are essential and strategic for the Italian cultural heritage.</span>

Cultural heritage plays a fundamental role in preserving the collective memory of a nation. However, it is noted that many historical buildings suffer from serious deformation that may lead to deterioration or loss. In this paper, we propose an approach for documentation and deformation assessment of historical buildings based on the combination of Terrestrial Light Detecting And Ranging (LiDAR) technology and Building Information Models (BIM). In order to digitally archive the current state of a historical building, classical surveying techniques (Traversing, Levelling and GPS) are integrated with Terrestrial Laser scanner (TLS). A Leica Scan Station C10 is used to accomplish the 3D point cloud acquisition. In addition, Leica GNSS Viva GS15 receivers, a Leica Total Station TCR 1201+ and a Leica Runner 24 are used for classical surveying. The result is a 3D point cloud with high resolution, which is referenced according to the local geodetic reference system Ain el Abd UTM 37N. This point cloud is then used to create a 3D BIM that represents the ideal condition of the building. This BIM also contains some important architectural components of the historical building. To detect and assess the deformation of building’s parts that require an urgent intervention, a comparison between the 3D point cloud and the 3D BIM is performed. To achieve this goal, the main parts of the building in the BIM model (such as ceilings and walls) are compared with the corresponding segments of the 3D point cloud according to the normal vectors of each part. A case study that corresponds to a historical building in Jeddah Historical City named ’Robat Banajah’ is presented to illustrate the proposed approach. This building was built to serve pilgrims that want to perform the fifth pillar of Islam. Then, it was endowed (waqf) as a charity housing for widows and disabled. The results of assessing deformations of the case study show that some rooms are in a degraded condition requiring urgent restoration (distortions reach up to 22 cm), while other building parts are in a non-critical condition.

Along with economic development, the consciousness and the ability in our country of historical reconstruction increase gradually. The use of information technology for modeling, design and archive in historical reconstruction is of great significance.The emergence of BIM (building information model) technology can effectively promote the ancient architecture of information integration and the collaboration between the parties. It can also avoid the understanding error of design. Using BIM to build ancient building component library can also reduce the burden of the future similar engineering design modeling work. Articles explore the current problems to overcome in ancient building repair, introduce the BIM technology, and then expounds the importance and advantages of BIM technology in historical reconstruction. At last, this paper proposes the whole idea of using BIM technology to repair and build the historical building.

The theory of using Building Information Modelling "BIM" has been used in several Heritage places in the worldwide, in the case of conserving, documenting, managing, and creating full engineering drawings and information. However, one of the most serious issues that facing many experts in order to use the Historical Building Information Modelling "HBIM", is creating the complicated architectural elements of these Historical buildings. In fact, many of these outstanding architectural elements have been designed and created in the site to fit the exact location. Similarly, this issue has been faced the experts in Old Jeddah in order to use the BIM method for Old Jeddah historical Building. Moreover, The Saudi Arabian City has a long history as it contains large number of historic houses and buildings that were built since the 16th century. Furthermore, the BIM model of the historical building in Old Jeddah always take a lot of time, due to the unique of Hijazi architectural elements and no such elements library, which have been took a lot of time to be modelled. This paper will focus on building the Hijazi architectural elements library based on laser scanner and image survey data. This solution will reduce the time to complete the HBIM model and offering in depth and rich digital architectural elements library to be used in any heritage projects in Al-Balad district, Jeddah City.

Our analysis documents that the existence of hidden “holes” in the capital of not yet failed banks - while creating intertemporal pressure on the actual level of capital - leads to changing of maturity of loans supplied rather than to contracting of their volume. Long-term loans decrease, whereas short-term loans rise - and, what is most remarkably, by approximately the same amounts. Standardly, the higher the maturity of loans the higher the credit risk and, thus, the more loan loss reserves (LLP) banks are forced to create, increasing the pressure on capital. Banks that already hide “holes” in the capital, but have not yet faced with license withdrawal, must possess strong incentives to shorten the maturity of supplied loans. On the one hand, it raises the turnovers of LLP and facilitates the flexibility of capital management; on the other hand, it allows increasing the speed of shifting of attracted deposits to loans to related parties in domestic or foreign jurisdictions. This enlarges the potential size of ex post revealed “hole” in the capital and, therefore, allows us to assume that not every loan might be viewed as a good for the economy: excessive short-term and insufficient long-term loans can produce the source for future losses.
