A study concerning the influence of climatic conditions on the oenological parameters of wine cultivars was carried out using six wine cultivars under the climatic conditions of 2019. Wine samples were taken from Ştefăneşti–Argeş, Babadag and Drăgăşani viticultural centres. Determination of the oenological parameters has been made for the following wine cultivars: Riesling Italian, Fetească Regală, Sauvignon Blanc, Feteascǎ Neagră, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The chemical parameters were determined using a Mindray BS 200 oenological analyser and the statistical analysis of the results was carried out using the Duncan test. A correlation was made between the parameters of the six wine cultivars from the three viticultural centres, focusing on the correlations between the total polyphenols of wines and their antioxidant activity.

Antioxidants are compounds with varied chemical structures that are affected by biotic and abiotic factors. The objective of this study was to characterize and compare bioactive compounds and the antioxidant capacity of fruit from four blackberry cultivars produced under different climatic conditions. Ascorbic acid content, total polyphenols, flavonoids, monomeric anthocyanins and antioxidant activity of the fruit were evaluated, and high levels of bioactive compounds as well as antioxidant activity were observed regardless of the cultivar or growing location. The results showed that bioactive production is affected by the cultivar and environment. Furthermore, the antioxidant potential of the blackberry fruit depends on the total phenolics and anthocyanin.

Clusia fluminensis Planch. & Triana (Clusiaceae Lindl.) is a native species found in regions of high luminosity and water restriction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of Clusia fluminensis crude extracts through the scavenging of the stable free radical DPPH, and the determination of flavones and flavonols content in these extracts. The fruit acetonic extract showed the lowest EC50 value (2.71 ± 0.34 g extract / g DPPH), the lowest percentage of remaining DPPH at the concentrations of 125 and 250 µg/mL (about 4% in both), and also the greatest percentage of flavones and flavonols (13.93 ± 0.21 %). Statistical analysis suggests a positive correlation between the presence of flavonoids and the antioxidant activity of this extract. From the obtained results it can be inferred that the acetonic extract of C. fluminensis fruits is an interesting target for the search of substances with antioxidant activity, especially flavonoids.

3 monovarietal wines obtained in two consecutive years in Jidvei Winery Romania were investigated in respect of total polyphenols, total flavonoids and antioxidant activity before and after blending for sparkling wine obtaining. The three varieties were Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Royal Maiden (Feteasca Regala). Total polyphenols were determined with Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, total flavonoid content with sodium nitrite, aluminum chloride and sodium hydroxide and antioxidant activity using Radical Scavenging Activity and Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power methods. All mentioned parameters were determined by UV-VIS absorption spectrometry. The determined total polyphenolic content were within the interval 307.21-727.43 mgGAE/l wine for simple varieties and within 405.44-472.74 mgGAE/l for blends and final product (sparkling wine). Total flavonoid content ranged between 16.74 and 242.46 mgQE/l wine in simple varieties and between 38.48 and 80.18 mgQE/l for blends and sparkling wine. Antioxidant activity was correlated with total polyphenols and total flavonoids.

<p class="TNR12">Garlic (<em>Allium sativum</em> L.) is highly regarded throughout the world for both its medicinal and culinary properties. With its bioactive compounds and sulphur containing compounds, high trace mineral content, garlic has shown anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidant abilities.</p><p>This work has focused on the measurement and comparison of the total polyphenols content, the total sulphur content and antioxidant activity of the studied varieties of garlic in the area of Nitra and Bardejov, Slovak Republic. The highest content of monitored indicators (TPC, TSC, AOA) was measured in the area of Nitra. TPC was determined using the spectrophotometric method of Folin-Ciocalteu agents. The total polyphenols content were determined in the range 621.13 to 763.28 mg kg-1 in area of Nitra. The content of total sulphur compounds in the area of Nitra ranges from 0.562 to 0.800 % and in the second area ranges from 0.421 % to 0.658 %. Antioxidant activity was measured by the spectrophotometric method using a compound DPPH. The value of antioxidant activity ranged from 12.01 % to 20.22 % in both monitored locations. The content of TPC, TSC and AOA beside the variety may be affected by the localitylinked factors like climatic conditions and the agrochemical composition of the soil.</p>

A statistical analysis is carried out on the influence that certain physico-chemical parameters exert on tirsification and vertisolization pedological processes that occur under certain geomorphological conditions in Andalusia region (Spain). Both processes occur on a parent material with high contents in smectitic clays, massive and uniform and contrasting climatic conditions where periods of humidity and those of drought  alternate. Chromic Vertisol (tirsificated) versus Calcium Vertisol (vertisolizated) (FAO, 2015) shows a greater interrelation between parameters given its greater weathering. Organic carbon controls a large part of its physical-chemical processes where the lateral washing of salts and carbonates together with manganese, always in a lower concentration than iron, play a definitive role in the blackening of its horizons. The chemical fertility is always low and  the geomorphological conditions seems to account for its agricultural capacity.

A precise, accurate and low cost spectrophotometric method was developed and validated for routine determination of total polyphenols, as pyrogallic acid equivalents, from the percolated and lyophilized extract of Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels fruits. Validation was assessed experimentally and data were rigorously treated by statistical analysis. Analytical parameters were: linearity, interval (range), precision and recovery/accuracy, limit of detection (LOD, μg mL-1) and limit of quantification (LOQ, μg mL-1). The visible spectrophotometric method presented linearity (r² = 0.9979 ± 0.0010) over the concentration range 0.25-7.5 μg mL-1 of standard pyrogallic acid, precision < 2.918171%, recovery/accuracy ranging from 96.228693 to 107.17701%, LOD = 0.21 μg mL-1 and LOQ = 0.64 μg mL-1.
