Different education sectors are playing active role in the development of students like performance, self-esteem, and confidence. To fulfill the study purpose, the researcher used 2 scales (Rosen Berg self-esteem and Dr. John confidence level scale) and collected the data from the students of both of the specified educational settings. The students of universities of the district Faisalabad were the study population, and students of 3 selective universities were the sample of the study. After data collection, the researcher applied one-way ANOVA to check the impact of all variables on students’ academic achievement. The study results showed no significant impact of both types of education on students’ academic achievement but it has a significant impact on their confidence level and the self-esteem. At the end of the paper, it was recommended that teachers need to focus on student confidence level and self-esteem to build their good personalities leading to the higher academic achievements.

Taking into consideration the fact that self-esteem and loneliness have an even more important role to play in students' learning, this study seeks to examine the correlation of these two factors with children academic performance. The study involved 499 (grade 4 to grade 9) Arab children studying at Arab schools in Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia. Data were collected via two questionnaires (one for loneliness and the other for self-esteem). The correlational data analysis yielded a negative correlation between loneliness and academic achievement while there is a positive correlation between self-esteem and achievement. Results also suggested that there is no correlation between students' gender, age, and academic achievement. Furthermore, the results revealed that self-esteem is a good predictor of achievement while loneliness and gender are not good predictors. The findings of the present study are discussed in relation to the relevant literature, taking into consideration the impact of children mental health on their academic achievement. Finally, recommendations for further research are presented.

Leadership styles play an important role and position in pedagogical activities and school effectiveness because they play a major role in the learning process. The current study looked at the relationship between teacher leadership styles (including democratic, autocratic, transformational and transactional) and student academic achievement at the university level. Head of the Departments of Social Sciences and Master degree students made up the study population. Twenty-nine Heads of Departments (HODs) and two hundred and six students from five public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtukhawa were selected through simple random and stratified (proportionate) sampling techniques. Data was collected through a questionnaire, the reliability co-efficient of which was 0.72 and 0.82 for HODs and students respectively. The data collected was analyzed using Mean, Standard Deviation and Pearson Correlation. The study results indicate that teacher leadership styles are strongly linked to student academic success

Numerous studies have investigated the impact of self-esteem and intelligence on academic achievement. The findings are generally inconsistent. The aim of this study was to understand the relationship between intelligence, self-esteem and academic achievement among young people in Kosovo. It was a quantitative cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 1856 participants, aged 10-18 years old (Mage = 15.29, SD = 1.76). Participants completed the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and The Raven Standard Progressive Matrices. Grade Point Average (GPA) was used to measure academic achievement. Data processing was done with SPSS 21.0 and Microsoft Excel 2013. Participants according to self-reported academic achievement were classified as follows: fail (0.1%), sufficient (2%), good (15.6%), very good (26.7%) and excellent (55.7%). As regards self-esteem participants were classified as follows: low self-esteem (26.9%), and normal self-esteem (73.1%). A significant positive correlation was found between academic achievement and intelligence (r = .31; p = .00) but not between achievement and self-esteem. This significant correlation resulted for both genders separately. The Mann-Whitney test found significant differences in academic achievement between genders and between groups with high intelligence and those with normal intelligence. Intelligence, but not self-esteem revealed a significant relationship with academic achievement. Future studies on the topic might focus on explanatory factors or the possibility of interaction of other variables related to academic achievement.

The high prevalence of dental anomalies and deformities requires a careful approach to orthodontic treatment, especially to improve quality of life. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of orthodontic care by index assessment of the results of correction of dental anomalies and determination of the psychosocial profile in adolescents of the Transcarpathian region. Material and methods. The object of the study were 68 adolescents from the Transcarpathian region. Determination of the correction of dental and maxillary apparatus anomalies was performed by calculating the relevant part of the ICON index, calculating the evaluation of the results. The quality of life of adolescents was assessed using the OHIP-14 quality of life questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed after consolidation of results using the application package Statistica 10.0 (StatSoft, Inc., USA) and Microsoft Office Excel 2010. Results and discussion. Many studies in the field of psychology have determined that self-esteem is a core characteristic of the individual and together with the level of claims is a regulator of human activity and significantly affects its development. The result of self-esteem depends on how a person evaluates his/her success in joint activities where he/she is a member. This is especially true for teenagers and adolescence. The most important aspect of impaired quality of life in patients of this subgroup were problems of psychological and social nature, issues of external attractiveness, which prevailed even over the physical aspects of the impact, which is quite typical of adolescence. In patients with moderate orthodontic treatment there was a statistically significant improvement on the scales of psychological discomfort (from 6.4±0.6 points to 3.96±0.6 points; p <0.05), psychological disability (from 6.5±0.5 points to 2.18±0.5 points; p <0.05) and social disability (from 5.4±0.5 points to 3.36±0.5 points; p <0.05). Patients in this group after solving problems related to the aesthetics of the smile, as well as discomfort during communication, felt greater psychological comfort, relief in interaction with others and peers. There was a noteworthy shift of accentuation in such patients from problems with appearance to study and active social life. Among patients with severe orthodontic treatment, the most pronounced dynamics was observed on all scales of dental quality of life: on the scale of masticatory dysfunction (from 5.7±1.0 points to 3.12±1.0 points; p <0.05), physical pain (from 7.5±0.7 points to 2.01±0.7 * points; p <0.05), psychological discomfort (from 7.9±0.6 points to 3.48±0.6 points; p <0.05) physical disability (from 7.7±0.5 points to 3.20±0.5 points; p <0.05), psychological disability (from 7.5±0.4 points to 3.41±0.5 points; p <0.05). Conclusion. According to the study results, the success of orthodontic treatment (indicators of severity and effectiveness of orthodontic treatment according to the ISO index) directly correlated with the level of quality of life (r = 0.62; p <0.05)

This study aimed to investigate the impact of an educational program based on brain-based learning in improving the creative thinking and academic achievement in the social studies and civics education among the third basic grade students in Jordan. The researcher adopted the semi-experimental method, and the study sample consisted of 50 third grade students of Omar Ibn Al-Khattab basic public school for Boys. The sample was purposive sample and then was assigned randomly into two the experimental and control groups. The experimental group which was provided the developed study unit consisted of 25 students, and similarly, the control group, which was presented the regular method. The study results showed statistically significant differences (=.05) in creative thinking skills: fluency, flexibility and authenticity, as well as academic achievement in the social studies and civic education among the third-graders in favor of the experimental group. The difference may be attributed to the brain-based education program.

In spite of the place of mathematics in the Nigerian education system, the performance of students in both external and internal examinations is on the downward trend. Research on factors affecting students’ achievement in mathematics has often neglected the impact of psychological variables, such as emotional intelligence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy. This study, therefore, was designed to study how emotional intelligence, self-esteem and the self-efficacy of students predict their academic achievement in mathematics. The correlational survey research design was employed with a population of 2,937 senior secondary 2 students and a sample of 400 students sampled from 16 secondary schools in the Nnewi Education zone of Anambra State. Emotional intelligence, Self-esteem, Self-efficacy Questionnaires, and Students' Academic Achievement Score Form (SAASF) were used to collect data through the direct delivery method. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that emotional intelligence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy had significant predictive powers on students' academic achievement in mathematics. Thus, emotional intelligence, self-esteem, and the self-efficacy of students are prime determinants of their achievement in mathematics. It was recommended that students should be taught using methods that will enhance their emotional intelligence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy.     Keywords: Emotional intelligence, Mathematics Achievement, Secondary school, Self-efficacy, Self-esteem;

Abstract Background The data concerning the association of smoking and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are limited. The effects of cigarette smoking on OSA still remain obscure. Objectives To reveal the impact of smoking on obstructive sleep apnea. Methods About 384 patients with the diagnosis of OSA through full night polysomnographic (PSG) examination were included to the study. The demographic data (age, sex and BMI), complaints and medical history, status of smoking as non-smokers and smokers, smoking frequency (cigarettes/day), polysomnograhic data comprising apnea hypopnea index (AHI), non-REM sleep AHI (NREM AHI), REM sleep AHI (REM AHI), minimum oxygen saturation (min SaO2) were recorded for all the subjects. Non-smokers and smokers were compared in terms of severity of OSA. Results The study population consisted of 384 subjects, 253 males and 131 females. Smoking frequency was not found correlated with OSA severity. Among smokers, males had higher severe OSA rate (P = 0.002, P &lt; 0.05). In subjects with BMI &lt; 30, severe OSA rate was higher in smokers (34.44% versus 21%) (P = 0.027, P &lt; 0.05). Conclusions Our study detected higher rate of severe OSA in male smokers and smokers with BMI &lt; 30. PSG data did not yield statistically significant difference in non-smokers and smokers. OSA severity was not found correlated with smoking frequency. Along with the study results, the impact of smoking on OSA is still controversial. Prospective studies with larger sample size may be contributive to further evaluation of the association of OSA with smoking.

AbstractBackgroundPrevious studies showed that obesity was correlated with many negative social and health outcomes including poor academic achievement and low self-esteem.PurposeTo determine the prevalence of obesity and to identify the impact of obesity on self-esteem and academic performance among university students.MethodThe study used a correlational design to achieve the study objectives. It was conducted at the University of Jordan (UJ). The study population was all university students in at UJ. A convenience sampling technique was conducted to select 419 students. A self-administered questionnaire was designed to collect data from the sample. The body of the questionnaire was divided into two sections: a demographic data section, and the second section aimed to measure the students’ self-esteem using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES).ResultsThe response rate in this study was 91.1%. The results showed that 33 students were obese (7.88%), 116 students were overweight (27.68%), 266 students were normal weight (63.48%), and four students were underweight (0.95%). The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between obesity and self-esteem (total item) (r = −0.231, 0.000*). The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between obesity and academic achievement (r = −0.131, 0.002).ConclusionThere was a significant impact of obesity on the self-esteem and academic performance among university students.

This paper aims to identify the impact of motivation on dynamic capabilities. The study population consists of all workers in the 13 Jordanian commercial banks, listed in Amman Stock Exchange which is estimated by 20,000 workers.&nbsp; The sample size is 384 sample entails in Jordanian commercial banks. the study results indicate that there is a significant impact of the motivation dimensions on the managerial dynamic capabilities. This study has some limitations which includes data access limitations and access limitations. The study recommends extending its scope and review the human resources polices to review the motivation system in the Jordanian banks.
