This research was Constitutional law program students IAIN of  Bengkulu that they haveless motivated and learning reading comprehension  is bored, only 120 minutes  in a week to study English at Faculty. The purpose of this research explain whether using Carousel Brainstorming Strategy can improve students’ Reading comprehension IAIN  Bengkulu especiallyConstitutional law program students IAIN of  Bengkuluin Academic year 2019/2020. Therefore, this  research by Descriptive Qualitative and quantitative dataThe subjects instruments of this research were 30 students, consisted of females 23 and 7 males. The instruments of this research were reading tests, students observation checklists andlecturer observation checklist and fiels notes, and interview. The result of students mean score in Pre-assessment and every meeting, there are improvement in pre-assessment ( 50,1), The first meeting (62,43), and The second meeting (75,33). This research shows that using Carousel Brainstorming Strategy has successfully improved the students reading comprehension, the improvement was influenced by the used of interesting material chosen and lecturer’s participation toward the students.

This research aimed to find out the strategies used by students in completing TOEFL reading comprehension test, types of reading comprehension in TOEFL test that was difficult to be answered by students, the greatest challenges factor for students in completing reading comprehension in TOEFL test, and the score of the 2nd semester students of STTIKOM Insan Unggul Cilegon-Banten. This is a descriptive qualitative study based on observation, interview, questionnaire and test as the instruments of collecting data.The sample is 20 advanced STTIKOM undergraduate students at Cilegon-Banten in Academic year 2018/2019 who were asked to do a PBT TOEFL reading comprehension test.The result showed that inference (33%), vocabulary (40%) and unstated details (50%) questions are the most difficult types to be answered by students. Related to the strategy, three of the strategies (skimming and scanning, top down and guess meaning ) are used by students in answering reading comprehension in TOEFL test. The greatest challenges for students in answering TOEFL reading comprehension in TOEFL test are less motivation in reading a text, less practice and they did not mastering vocabulary well. In addition, the TOEFL score of STTIKOM Insan Unggul Cilegon-Banten was insufficient to achieve standardize test or low.

The objectives of this study were to describe the teachers’ ways of teaching reading of descriptive texts to tenth grade students in Deli Serdang, Indonesia and to reveal the underlying reasons for these approaches. This study was conducted by using a descriptive qualitative design. The subjects were two English teachers who taught the tenth grade students at SMA Swasta Melati Hamparan Perak in the 2018/2019 academic year. The data were collected by observing, video recording and interviewing, and were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman techniques. The findings show that the approaches that the teachers used were not focused on enabling the students to be independent or skilful readers. Most of the ways directed the students to become good at reading texts or translating the texts into Bahasa rather than teaching how to comprehend descriptive texts. Most of the approaches were focused on translation, vocabulary enrichment, stating ideas, pronunciation and managing the class. The approaches did not facilitate reading comprehension. This paper is a report of an experimental research project conducted in a reading comprehension course for first-year students of the Adab Faculty of the State Institute for Islamic Studies Imam Bonjol Padang, West Sumatera, Indonesia, during the academic year 2015/2016. The “Predict Organize Search Summarize Evaluate” (POSSE) is one strategy that can enhance students’ comprehension in reading. Two classes of Arabic and History students chosen through cluster random sampling technique were used as the sample of the research. Reading tests were used to collect the data which was given to both of classes on pre-test and post-test. The result of the research showed that the implementation of Predict Organize Search Summarize Evaluate strategy gave a significant difference in term of the students-learning outcome between the students who were taught through POSSE strategy and by traditional one. The finding of the study showed that teaching reading by using POSSE strategy gave significant effect towards students’ reading comprehension. This strategy could improve the students’ reading component on finding topic. It can be concluded that using POSSE Strategy has improved Indonesian students’ reading comprehension. It is also recommended for English lecturers use POSSE strategy as one of teaching strategies for reading comprehension.

This research aims  to find out the significant improvement of the students achievement in reading comprehension by applying Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). The subject of this research was X grade of SMK Bandung-2 at Academic Year 2017/2018. It consisted of one class with 30 students as respondents. The objective was to discover the significant improvement of the students’ achievement in reading comprehension by applying Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). This research was conducted by using classroom action research. The instruments of collecting data were observation sheet, and Reading  tests. The research finding is shown of  that there was an improvement on the students’ reading achievement on narrative text from each cycle. It was showed from the mean of pre-test which was 56.5 with persentage 0%. After CTL was applied in the first cycle, there was an improvement of the result of the students’ in reading comprehension the mean was 69.16 with persentage 33.3%. It means that there was an improvement from pre-test to post-test I was 33.3%. And for the second cycle after reflection on the first cycle, there was an improvement of students’ mean which was 85 with persentage 100%. Based on the result showed that there was an improvement after applying CTL was 66.7%. It concluded that students’ achievement in reading comprehension by applying contextual teaching and learning (CTL) improved.

This research was aimed to know how comic strip can improve students’ motivation and reading comprehension at MA. Raudlatusshibyan NW Belencong in academic year 2017/2018. The research design was classroom action research. It consists of one cycle, and the cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data were collected by using reading tests and questionnaire. The result study shown that comic strip improved students’ motivation and reading comprehension. The percentage of students that got very high motivation after using Comic Strip in learning reading is 55% and 45% got high motivation. The result of the mean in post-test at cycle 1 is 77,9 while the students’ highest score was 88 and the lowest score was 52. The result of the test shown the abilities of the students were improved. There were 17 students or 85% out of the 20 students who reached the score of KKM while the rest of them there were 3 students or 15% failed. It is indicated the improvement of student’s reading comprehension and their motivation of English learning process.

Reading occupies large portion in teaching-learning activities, especially for English department students. It is reasonable since all their learning materials are in English. However, their ability in reading comprehension is low. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a research to solve this problem. The purpose of this research was to find out whether Reciprocal Teaching strategy can solve and improve the students’ reading comprehension. Moreover, this research was also to find out what factors influence the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension. This research is action research. The participants of the research were the third semester students of 2018-2019 academic year which consisted of 13 students. The instruments used to collect the data were from observation checklists, field notes, interviews, and reading tests. After analyzing the data, it was found that reciprocal teaching strategy was able to improve the students’ reading comprehension ability. It could be seen from the improvement of their mean score in reading comprehension at the end of the cycle 1. The factors that influenced the improvement of their reading ability involved materials, teacher’s knowledge, students’ interaction, and assessment activities. To sum up, the implementation of reciprocal teaching strategy was able to provide positive results on their reading comprehension.

This study aims to determine the effect of multipass strategies and student attitudes on students' reading comprehension in historical recount texts. The design of this research is Quasi Experiment Research with a 2x2 factorial design. The population of this research is the students of class X SMAN 2 Lubuk Alung Academic Year 2018/2019. Reading tests and student attitude questionnaires were used as research instruments. Then, the research data were analyzed using the T-test formula and Two-Way ANOVA. The results of this study indicate that (1) students taught with multipass strategies have better reading scores than students taught with ordinary strategies, (2) students taught with multipass strategies with positive attitudes have better reading values than students taught with ordinary strategies, (3) students taught with multipass strategies with negative attitudes have better reading scores than students taught with common strategies, and (4) there is no interaction between the two teaching strategies (multipass strategies and ordinary strategies) and students 'attitudes towards students' reading comprehension.

The subjects of this study were two English teachers who taught at the eleventh grade students at SMA Methodist 8 Medan in academic year 2016/2017. The data were collected by observing, video recording and interviewing and analyzed by using Miles and Huberman technique (1994). The findings of the study showed that most of the teachers’ way are not yet focusing on teaching reading comprehension but rather focusing to the teaching the knowledge of the genre. The underlying reasons of the teachers’ ways in teaching reading comprehension did not facilitate reading comprehension. The objective of this research is to find out the improvement of the students’ ability in reading the report text by using the trading place strategy.  The research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (Arikunto, 2006). The subject of this study was the nineth grade students in MTs S. AL-Husna, Medan, in academic year 2016/2017. The class consisted of 30 students. The data were taken from the students’ score, observation sheet, diary notes and documentation. Based on the reading tests, the students’ score kept improvement in every test: from pre-test to post test of cycle I and post test of cycle II. The improvement can also be proved by the result of observation sheet and diary notes. Therefore, It was found that teaching reading the report text by implementing the trading place strategy could improve the students’ ability in reading comprehension of the report text.
