Abstract The interaction conducted by traders with buyers in Kejajar Wonosobo Market intends to reach a final agreement in transaction activities. In the final agreement, there is an interesting thing that needs to be observed, namely the use of certain words that have the influence of the seller on the buyer. The power of influence is a speech that can be understood by speakers and speech partners. The power of influence is known as the act of speech illocution. In this article, the author aims to describe the type and function of illocution speech and its relevance to Indonesian language learning in high school. Based on the results of data analysis found 41 speech data included in the type and function of illocution speech actions carried out by sellers with buyers in Kejajar Wonosobo Market. The data included 7 data on expressive speech types, 17 data on the type of corrective speech directive, 11 data on the type of corrective speech, and 6 data types of commission speech, while the type of declarative illocution speech was not found. In addition, the illocution speech function was found to consist of 17 competitive function data, 13 convivial function data, 11 collaborative function data, while for conflictive illocution speech function was not found. Furthermore, the results of this study were integrated into Indonesian language learning in negotiation text material in high school grade X, in KD 3.11: Analyzing the content, structure (orientation, submission, offer, approval, closing) and language of the negotiating text.

<em>This research aims to describe: (1) the relation of meaning used in the rubric “Ah Tenane” newspaper SOLOPOS Edition April 2017; and (2) the relevance of the rubric “Ah Tenane” newspaper SOLOPOS 2017 Edition in Indonesian Language learning in high school. This research used a qualitative description of the approach. This type of research is the analysis of the contents. Sampling techniques using a purposive sampling method. Data collection using the technique of the analysis of the documents and interviews with informants. The validity of the data using triangulation theory and triangulation of sources. Data analysis using interactive analysis. Results of the study include: (1) the relation of meaning used in the rubric "Ah ... Tenane "newspaper SOLOPOS Edition April 2017 is synonymous with the time factor, the factor of place or region, keformalan factors, social factors, activities factors, and shades of meaning. Ofarim with absolute factor, the relative factors of relational factors, factor, hierarkial. There is also which, homonimi, and hiponimi; (2) the rubric "Ah ... Tenane "newspaper SOLOPOS Edition April 2017 relevant if implemented in Indonesia language learning in high school. Based on informants, the rubric "Ah ... Tenane "newspaper SOLOPOS April 2017 Edition has the information and entertainment that can be read by students.</em>

This research aimed at developing character based language learning games in teaching English which can be used by teacher of junior high school grade VII as an alternative activities in the classroom. This research is R&D which used the design from Sugiyono (2011). The data in this study were collected through in depth interview, observation, and questionnaire distribution for both teacher and students. Then the data gained were analyzed qualitatively as the basis to develop the games and manual. As the result, 3 character based language learning games are developed; they are Word Bricks, Race Words dan Snake and Signs games. Validation from experts has been conducted and the scores given indicate that the product designed can be categorized as good games and excellent manual. It is also found that the product developed is categorized as good games and manual based on teacher’s score. After the implementation, it is shown that the students are motivated in learning English by using games. Besides, it is also found that students’ characters are starting to emerge in students who played the games.

The authors recognize the challenges facing school-based speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who are encouraged to create and deliver curriculum-focused and strategic-based intervention. The high school setting can be an especially daunting one but it is also a place where SLPs can use their expertise to participate in innovative partnerships with students and colleagues in the facilitation of language and literacy learning. This article outlines selected language initiates focused toward content area learning within a constructive comprehension framework.

This study dealt with the development of English Reading Materials of vocational school, Al-WashliyahTeladan Medan, majoring Software Engineering. The objectives of this study were to: 1) find out language skill and materials are needed by the students of Software Engineering, 2) develop the English materials for the majoring in software engineering students at the vocational high school grade XII. This study was conducted by Educational Research and Development R&D (Borg & Gall, 1989). The data of this research were from existing documents and the result of interview with teacher and student. The results of the research conveyed that the existing reading materials were mostly irrelevant because the title and content of the material was not appropriate and was not required for the students majoring in software engineering. The new English reading materials and syllabus were developed based on the students need related to the workplace. The materials and syllabus were developed from the existing materials from teacher. The developing materials were validated by two experts.

Reading is one of the important aspects of language learning. By reading, the learners get knowledge and information. But in reality, students are often ignoring to mastering this skill. It is the researchers found in the second grade of SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Kartikatama Metro Lampung Indonesia, where students have difficulty in reading comprehension, so this leads to lower their learning. Therefore, to improve students' reading comprehension ability, researchers used Written Retelling Strategy (WRS) in the learning process.        The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of Retelling Written Strategy (WRS) has a positive effect on students' reading comprehension in learning English. Written Retelling Strategy (WRS) considered as one strategy that makes students more active and fun in the learning process to comprehend some text.        Forms of this research are Quantitative Research conducted in two classes. Each class is divided into the trial and reserve grade. Author implements True Experimental Design (Pure Research) by applying a pre-test and post-test as an instrument. In accordance with the method of this study, the data were analyzed using t-test that allows knowing the difference between the experimental group that used a class of written retelling strategy and the control group who did not use written retelling strategy. Finally, the research data show that t observations = 3,590 and is included in the category of high impact. Furthermore, t observation T Table consult with a significance level of 5% = 2.010 and 1% = 2,682, the data states that t observations greater than the T Table, this could mean that Hi is received. And could mean that there is a positive and significant influence between experiment class and class control on the use of written retelling strategy at second grade of Senior High School  Kartikatama Metro.
