Libya is facing an increasing deficit in electrical energy supply which needs great efforts to find new and renewable alternative sources of power. Solar thermal electricity is one of the most promising and emerging renewable energy technologies to substitute the conventional fossil fuel systems. A review of the research literature of solar thermal electricity in Libya is presented in this article. The state of the art of these technologies including design, operation principles and global market is demonstrated. Detailed reviews of research activities that have been conducted by Libyan researchers or institutions are presented. It has been found that Libya as a country needs a strategic plan and more research efforts in order to adopt these new technologies and put them in production mode.

This workshop brought together a selection of H2020 EU-funded projects involving experts from the biomass, geothermal, solar thermal, and heat pump sectors to discuss a common strategy for increasing the use of renewable energy technologies for heating and cooling for buildings and industry.

This research investigates the factors that potentially affect public attitudes and their adoption of renewable energy technologies for electrical energy production in Afghanistan. The study is carried out with a survey from Kabul and its neighboring provinces including Logar, Maidan Wardak, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Parwan & Kapisa provinces. We used a random sampling process to collect data using a web-based questionnaire. The survey was well designed to highlight conveniently the public understanding, willingness, and attitudes toward adopting renewable energy technologies (RETs). The outcome of the survey is then evaluated to discover the most potential factor affecting public acceptance of RETs. The results declared that the educational level, expertise in RETs, and income of respondents are positively related, while the age of respondents is negatively related to the public willingness on the use and investment in RETs. The majority of respondents have used one type of RETs, however, 23 % of respondents have not used any type of RETs. Study shows that the RETs use and access to grid electricity are reversely related, where the access is lower, the RETs use is higher and vice versa. Most of the respondents were not well informed and most disagreed with the government policies on RETs, therefore, public awareness programs on RETs and government policies are recommended. The majority of respondents were willing to invest in RETs, therefore, the government should commit itself and support private sectors to invest in RETs and take part in its development.

There is an increasing need for the integration of renewable energy into the energy sector in Egypt. As the electricity subsidies are residing for consumers in Egypt, electricity prices are increasing. This increase in energy prices can be mitigated by the integration of renewable energy technologies. One of the most promising renewable energy technologies that will help stabilize the energy situation in Egypt, is Solar Thermal Energy. Solar Thermal Energy has a great potential in Egypt due to the availability and intensity of direct irradiance in Egypt. Therefore, Egypt has an amazing opportunity as a developing country to start perusing solar thermal technologies; these technologies include decentralized and centralized technologies. Decentralized technologies are targeted more for regular consumers and centralized technologies are targeted more for power generation and industries.

Renewable energies have great potential to improve agricultural activities and rural development. Positive results are already being achieved with these relatively benign energies in many countries. In Nigeria, there is need to improve agricultural production for the increasing population and to conserve the fossil fuel reserves. Although renewable energy sources such as solar radiation and biomass are abundant, harnessing them for agricultural and rural development needs is very slow. This article extols the virtues of these energy sources, analyses the progress made so far in renewable energy technologies in Nigeria, identifies the major obstacles and suggests some solutions to overcome them.

Almost half of the world’s population is living without access to sanitation services that are safe, reliable, and minimize public health risk of human waste exposure. Modern flush-based sanitation networks are unsustainable: substantial resources, namely water and fuel, are required to bring human waste to centralized treatment facilities. Moving toward sustainable sanitation requires the implementation of innovative renewable energy technologies for stabilization and disinfection of waste, at the local or household scale, where minimal inputs of water, electricity or chemicals are required. A novel solar thermal disinfection toilet prototype has been constructed and is assessed for overall solar to receiver efficiency in treating waste without electrical, chemical, or water inputs from municipal supply. The measured solar to receiver efficiency is 28%, incorporating the capturing and concentration of sunlight and transmission of the energy to the receiver. For a typical sunny day, the current system can achieve thermal treatment of 0.8 kg human waste in roughly 100 min. The novel toilet is available for any location in the world with sufficient sunlight and irradiance data, and is scalable by adding solar collectors for sizes from single dwellings to communities.

Climate changing, electrical demands, rising diesel fuel prices, as well as fossil fuel-based energy is limited and in fact is depleting ,are subjects to use of renewable technologies. Among the different renewable energy technologies, hydro power generation (large and small scale) is the prime choice in terms of contribution to the world's electricity generation by using water current turbines.CFD simulation using two equations turbulence model was carried out to compare performance of conventional savonius turnine and new consept of vertical axis turbine. This study was coducted to reach suitable desigh of vertical axis turbines for capturing more kineticenergy of current via of others esspecially,low current speed.

Improving energy efficiency is one of the main ways to reduce energy pollution that leads to economic development, increasing energy access and better life. That can result in reducing fossil fuel use and growing clean energy supplies. The Gulf countries have as many renewable resources as hydrocarbons like sunshine, considerable wind resources, and geothermal. The economy of the Middle east deeplydepends on fossil fuel export. Declining fossil fuel supplies and rising energy prices are driving global energy supplies to renewables energies. Although the Middle East region, due to its special geographical features, has significant potential for the growth of renewable energy sources, they have not been developed yet. It overviews the energy situation and sustainability, economic potential of renewable energy, policies for energy systems over the recent decades in six resource-rich countries in the middle east. In addition, along with renewable energy technologies, possible ways to solve current environmental problems are recognized. The methodology of this work is PESTLE analysis of these countries' energy status to develop a long-term mechanism for sustainable and secure energy for the Middle East based on Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, Environmental. Also, it identifies challenges that restrict the development of renewable energy technologies in the Middle East. By analyzing the status of energy in recent decades, the importance of implementation of effective energy policies to develop sustainable energy can be realized. Abstract Rapid economic development has resulted in the more frequent use of renewable energy technologies. On the other hand, the production and use of renewables fosters the development of new technologies, creating many new opportunities for entrepreneurial-minded individuals and, consequently, the economy in general. Renewable energy technologies have a multiplier effect in spurring the economy and the development of not only the energy sector but also all the supporting activities related to such industry. The purpose of this research is to analyse both the positive and the negative economic effects of investing in various renewable technologies, as well as to confirm, by means of the energy-economy model, the benefit of such technologies in boosting the economy.
