Problem and goal. The article considers the possible ways of development of the general course of informatics: with technological or socio-cultural dominant. The aim of the study is to identify the main factors (significant circumstances) that make it possible to develop the content of the training of this course in a socio-cultural way. This, in turn, allows us to adequately formulate information threats to the human person, characteristic of the digital society and develop a strategy to protect against these threats. Methodology. The study is based on the analysis of the main challenges of the digital society and the internal logic of the development of general education course of informatics: from computer literacy to the subject of the general education cycle, and from it - to metasubject. Results. The study highlights the main factors that allow to develop the content of the general education course of informatics in the socio-cultural key, which allows to formulate the main strategic directions of protection of the human person from the information threats of the digital society. These factors can be described as consistency, socialization, technologization. These factors will lead to the actual development of the general course of informatics, if within the informatics will be prerequisites for their implementation. The development of the subject area of informatics creates such prerequisites, since the most important concept of the modern course of informatics is the concept of information, symbolic model with a significant social context. At the same time, symbolic modeling is one of the main types of universal educational activities. Conclusion. It is shown that in order to ensure the information security of the individual, it is necessary, first of all, to develop a system of representations and information-cognitive tools that allow the student to adequately interact with the surrounding world. The development of this tool can take over computer science.

The article presents the results of the intermediate stage of the research conducted within the framework of the project of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research No. 19-29-14030 ”Cognitive models and algorithms for the formation of digital competence of a teacher in the conditions of digitalization of general education”. The project is aimed at improving the effectiveness of the teacher’s activities in the context of digitalization of education by developing the digital competence of the teacher through the introduction of cognitive models and algorithms for evaluating the digital competencies of teachers and making decisions on the design or adjustment of professional development programs. The current state of the problem of professional and personal development of teachers in the context of digitalization of education, their digital competence, approaches to the identification of digital competencies and their assessment is studied, conceptual approaches to the identification of digital competencies of teachers are defined and the main indicators of their assessment are developed. At the second stage (2021), a structural model of the organization of professional development of teachers is being developed, taking into account the requirements of digitalization of general education on the basis of a competence-based approach. There is also the task of developing a cognitive model of the advanced training program (ATP), which allows us to take into account the strength of the links between the studied modules and digital competencies based on the application of an algorithm for assessing the significance of disciplines. The results of this work are proposed for discussion in this article.

Information security now is considered to be cross-disciplinary and comprehensive field. It integrates the accumulation of knowledge in many disciplines like computer science, mathematics, communications, electronics, physics, etc. Thus, there has been an ongoing effort to improve the experiences in information security experimentation. Many international institutions are investigating enhanced approaches to provide hands-on learning and research environments. However, academic institutions are facing with the difficult challenge of providing lab infrastructuresthat meet the increasingly growing needs of cybersecurity training. In this paper, we report on the necessity and importance of building an effective national testbed for cybersecurity experimentation. We also present a general top-level architecture for this testbed emphasizing the most important enabling technologies.

The article deals with the problems of information security and its provision in relation to society and its educational environment, processes and relations, subjects and objects. The necessity of forming the corresponding subject-information competence of subjects, personal culture of information security is shown. It is noted that the information security of educational subjects is a specific part of the general security of education as its qualitative development in the developing information society in accordance with its properties and requirements. The concept of information security in the field of education is formulated in the context of a general concept and in the aspect of its specificity in education, its educational and educational processes, as well as in the aspect of personal, psychological, age and other properties of subjects of education. This presupposes the presence of a corresponding purposefulness of general education, which also acquires the quality of informational education, and its expression in the content of education and subject-oriented educational training. In particular, this applies to the general education subject “Informatics” as the main resource of information education, in the process of forming the relevant knowledge, competencies and personal qualities. The necessity of mandatory inclusion of the relevant topics in the content of information education in the context of information security and information protection has been substantiated: the state and problems of information security, personal security; goals and objectives of information security; legal and other aspects of information protection, means of protecting electronic data in the field of education.

This chapter describes the digital competencies that have become essential in the workforce and how higher education institutions (HEIs) are trying to keep up in a moment in which faculty members have been acquiring digital skills alongside students. A field study was conducted with faculty from HEIs in Mexico to identify the differences between the digital skills that faculty possessed previous to the pandemic and those acquired as a result of remote work. It also analyzes the digital tools they have been provided with to perform their jobs, the training they have received, and the digital skills that they still lack to help students acquire the digital competencies demanded in the workforce. The objective is to identify areas of opportunity and create general guidelines that will help develop critical digital skills. A literature review of the most relevant aspects of digital dexterity and digital competence in higher education (HE) is presented. An analysis of the current context and how it is producing changes faster than before is also included.
