Abstract. An accident blackspot is a length of the road marked as having high road accidents potential. Various highways have become a nightmare to passengers, drivers and pedestrians in the recent past. One of the common causes of road accidents is a driver being unfamiliar with a road. Despite authorities using various methods to raise awareness of blackspots including the use speed guns detectors the rate of the accidents on the roads is still in an alarming rate. More often, signposts on the road can be vandalized or even be hit by a reckless driver. There is also an assumption that every driver reads and understands signposts. We propose an IoT system embedded on a vehicle and having ability to sense a blackspot from a given distance. After sensing the blackspot, the system then provides an audio directive that notifies a driver to be more careful and avoid overtaking. The proposed system was developed using GPS, microcontrollers, and GSM mobile technology. The system was tested using coordinates extracted from road sections marked as blackspots. The proposed system sends notifications to end users using GSM system chip.

Road safety campaigns and programs have been extensively introduced and implemented in Malaysia. However, their effectiveness is still being debated. Children especially will become the unfortunate victims of road accidents if they are unaware of the danger and precaution actions to be safe on the road. In response to that, this paper introduces an application as an alternative that inculcates road safety awareness to further support existing related programs and campaigns. Particularly, an interactive web application incorporating interactive multimedia elements has been designed and evaluated. Results on the usability test indicate a promising success and highlight aspects and issues that can be further focused for improvement and enhancement.

The increasing number of vehicles on the road intersections has given rise to many problems like road accidents, congestions add conflicts. These problems can only be solved by deigning proper traffic signal at intersections for continuous and smooth movement of vehicles Nagpur- though the smart city- is also facing the same problem. This paper presents the proper designing and simulation of traffic signal at an unsignalized intersection at Nagpur. The paper deals with the simulation of designed signal through a programming language like Python.

Nowadays, the human error is usually identified as the conclusive cause of investigations in road accidents. The human although is the person in control of vehicle until the moment of crash but it has to be understood that the human is under continued impact by various factors including road environment, vehicle and human's state, abilities and conduct. The current advances in design of vehicle and roads have been intended to provide drivers with extra comfort with less physical and mental efforts, whereas the fatigue imposed on driver is just being transformed from over-load fatigue to under-load fatigue and boredom. A representational model to illustrate the relationships between design and condition of vehicle and road as well as driver's condition and state on fatigue and the human error leading to accidents has been developed. Thereafter, the stochastic mathematical models based on time-dependent failure rates were developed to make prediction on the road transportation reliability and failure probabilities due to each cause (vehicle, road environment, human due to fatigue, and human due to non fatigue factors). Furthermore, the supportive assessment methodology and models to assess and predict the failure rates of driver due to each category of causes were developed and proposed.

Local roads (district roads) constitute an important part of the road network in Poland, making up around 29.7 % (124,945 km) of all public roads. In 2017, 10,578 accidents, which is 35.7% of all accidents in Poland, took place on local roads. These roads are used primarily by regular users who are very familiar with the defects of these roads. This means that the effects of the low technical standard of local roads and the insufficient number of road traffic devices on the safety on the road can be partly compensated for by the fact that drivers adjust their behaviour to the conditions on the road. This hypothesis can be verified through developing dependency models of road safety measures of local roads’ and technical characteristics. The article presents the research carried out based on regression models of accident prediction. The models were developed with the use of the data on the road surroundings arrangement (built-up areas, access), road condition and the extent of signposting, including data on speed limits and overtaking as well as risk exposure variables. Due to the incomplete data on accidents and the small number of accidents, different approaches to the modelling of the number of road accidents were applied.

The study was conducted in two Local Government areas (LGAS) of Oyo State: Ogbomoso North and Ogbomoso South L.G.A. The study was carried out through the use of structured questionnaires. A total of 90 questionnaires were administered randomly in the two LGAS. Questions were asked based on background, production system, constraints to goal production e.l.cof the respondents. The data were analyzed separately using descriptive analysis. The results showed that 95.2% of household owners of goat were females while the major farms emplored male labour. West African Dwarf goat was the common breed of goat raised in the two LGAS. Majurin of the household owners of goat practised free range system of production (86.7%) while u lurge percentage of the major farms practiced intensive system of production (80%). There were no specialized housing and feeding programmes, a larger percentage of both categories fed crop residues such as cassava peels, cornstarch meal residues, and cowpea husk to the goats. The household owners of goal seldom feed forage to their goats (20%) while all the major farms fed forage to the goats. The common diseases in the area were diarrhea, pneumonia and mange. Noform of control breeding was practiced among the categories of goat keepers. There is a lack of extension service in the areas because majority of both the household owners (98%) and major farms (60%) did not have access to extension agents. The constraints to goat production in the area include accidents on the road, seasonality of seed supply, diseases, theft, lack of capital and land.

In the field of technical research the Internet of Things (IoT) has become an interesting topic. The device is interconnected over the internet. We usually think of IoT in terms of independently owned cars and smart homes, but in extreme practical matters one of the best applications of IoT technology. In many disciplines, IoT is increasing rapidly from a technical point of view, in particular with the smart crossing system. In the meantime, it is a very populous country in Bangladesh. A lot of people cross the street every day. A lot of wide roads are to be crossed in Bangladesh. Even dead troubles. There is a lot of vehicles on the lane. There are many wide roads in Bangladesh that are a lot to cross. Troubles, even dead ones. Many vehicles are on the road. Bangladesh is also a developing country, and the laws of road crossing are not very strict, in which case it is very important to have a pedestrian-safer IoT-based smart crossing system with object tracking. Often people are facing an accident, in particular school children have trouble crossing the road, old people face the same problem. A cost-effective solution to this issue is the key contribution of this paper using a simple framework based on Arduino UNO R3. The device is fully autonomous and can calculate the planned parameters of a pedestrianized IoT-based, smart crossing platform with object tracking in an efficient way. Ultrasonic sensors and one IR sensor were used for measuring the parameters needed for the device. Moreover, in Bangladesh this program is more important and essential. This smart crossing system detects people as well as reduce road accidents.

The purpose of the study is to review and analyze the experience of specialists in the field of spatial design of haulage roads for further improving the methodological foundations by providing clarity and visually acceptable degree of spatial curves. Drivers perception of the haulage road as well as overspeeding lead to critical situations or road accidents. A decrease in speed at seemingly abrupt bends on the road affects the efficiency of the log trucking transport. Therefore, the perspective view of the road should clearly orient the driver, that is, be visually clear, clearly changing, ensuring the constancy or modulated reduction of the traffic condition. The need for an optimal spatial solution of the road increases. It is required to determine the conditions under which the visual smoothness and clarity of the most common simple spatial curves when looking from points corresponding to the normal position of the eyes of car drivers is ensured.

Accident prevention has always been an important issue for governments and car manufacturers across the world. Roughly 1.5 million people are killed in road accidents annually in India. The primary causes of accidents are broken and weathered roads, hazardous weather conditions, as well as human errors such as over speeding, distracted driving, and not following road safety rules. The traffic police work hard to enforce strict rules and maintain accident-free roads, but this hasn’t proven to be efficient. A vehicular ad hoc network (VANET), as the name says, is a network consisting of nodes. These nodes depict vehicles on the road. This project aims to use this technology with K-Nearest Neighbour Classifier (KNN) to create a prototype of a system which can notify drivers of an impending accident caused by forward collisions, rear collision etc., thus enabling them to take immediate action and prevent it.
