Despite rapid and sustained development of electronic commerce, many companies doing e-business are still in the investment and brand-building phase and have yet to show a profit. However, as e-businesses shift their focus from  building a customer base to increasing revenue growth and profitability, they should reevaluate their current business strategies, if any, and develop strategies that provide a clear path to profitability. This study uses McCarthy’s four marketing mix model and Porter’s five competitive forces model to identify strategies for Internet companies that respond to the five competitive forces and thereby achieve a competitive advantage. The study provides significant new insights into the development and implementation of e-business strategies that contribute to increased profit.

On the other hand, given that little research has been done in this area , So consider this strategy has increased the importance of, Entering the world of electronic commerce and the use of modern tools and technology in new areas of business, firms will be forced to employ new business strategies, to prepare for their new competitive pressures. The results show that in the domain of e-commerce, two PORTER 'S FIVE COMPETITIVE FORCES AND MCCARTHY ' S FOUR MARKETING MIX MODEL been instrumental in the formulation and development of marketing strategies. And variables  used in the model to identify and prioritize and execute marketing strategies in the field of e-commerce is essential. There are five competitive forces that influence the Industry. Industry competition affects business performance, so companies must adapt to changing environments to maintain a competitive position. One of the ways to win the competition is to use a strategy. Strategy allows organizations to gain a competitive advantage from three different foundations namely: cost leadership, differentiation and focus. Strategic planning can help to develop an early warning system to avoid threats or develop strategies that can turn threats into profits for the company. Thus the strategy can maximize competitive advantage on the one hand, and can minimize the limitations of competing. The question is; How do laws and regulations affect Porter's five competitive forces and the three generic strategies? This research is a qualitative analytical descriptive study using secondary data, and the unit of analysis is the prevailing laws and regulations in Indonesia. The results of this study; consistently statutory regulations (laws) influence the five competitive forces and three generic strategies put forward by Porter.

According to Porter (1985), in the market of competition, competitive advantage lies in the center of business activities of an enterprise. For this reason, one of the most important factors for any kind of business is to build or construct a good and stable competitive advantage. The wealth of a company cannot be durable if the company does not maintain its competitive advantage. Improving the competitive advantage is one of the first and foremost concerns of every business. In the process of integration, all economies have to try their best to fully compete with each other to gain the best. Among the economy sectors, the retail enterprises are of those who have to apply marketing strategies to strengthen their competitive advantage. With good and suitable marketing strategies, businesses can increase the number of their customer, have goods and products attractive to consumers and finally gain the expected profits. In Vietnam, the market economy started at the end of 1986, much later than the world market economy, so the application of competitive advantages from the macro level to micro level (here the enterprise level) has been slow. For the sector of retailing, especially supermarket retailing, the market scale of Vietnam is much smaller than that of other markets in the region. However, there are basic factors for a fast development in Vietnam such as: big population with the kind of young population, high rate of economic growth rate and non-stop improved living standard. That is the fact that the potential for retailing development in Vietnam is not small and supermarket business in the future is big. In Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh market, there are quite a lot of supermarket chains which are in operation nowadays such as Co-op mart, Citimart, Maximart, B-smart, Shop&Go and so on? These supermarkets are trying their best to gain more customers. For this purpose, the researcher chose Citimart as a case study in this research. Citimart is one of most favorable supermarket in Ho Chi Minh. In this thesis, the researcher studies the factors affecting the competitive advantage of Citimart, and then find out the solutions for the policy makers to have good business strategies of Citimart.

Purpose This paper aims to investigate the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives adopted by Chinese firms during the outbreak of COVID-19. Facing this unknown, unexpected and devastating disease, Chinese corporations demonstrated their CSR in different approaches. The purpose of this paper is to explore how CSR influences the decisions of the corporations that respond to a severe incident and how corporations can achieve their mission or strategic objectives by responding to a serious incident. Design/methodology/approach Based on secondary data and thematic analysis, this paper examines six Chinese corporations which are the leading firms in their respective industries. Findings This paper finds that firms adopted a mixed approach to conducting their CSR initiatives, including altruistic, strategic and citizenship CSR initiatives. This paper also confirms that strategic CSR initiatives were in line with the five dimensions of strategic CSR including centrality, specificity, proactivity, visibility and voluntarism. In addition, this paper also shows that a company could create its competitive advantage by carrying out CSR initiatives that are able to strengthen its value chain activities or the competitive context. This is based on the partnership built by the firms with their stakeholders to recognize the shared value. Practical implications This paper shows the implication that business leaders should understood the role of a business in society and the importance of stakeholders’ expectations. The underlying philosophy is that CSR could strengthen the resilience of society; business organizations need to operate in a healthy society. Originality/value This paper provides insights of Chinese corporations responding to a severe social incident. It highlights the strategic perspective of CSR initiatives and the linkage between CSR activities and a firm’s competitive advantage.

The image of the retail brand and the price image of the retailer are of significant importance for achieving a competitive advantage and long-term strengthening of the overall image. Retailers’ slogans should reflect their overall strategy and facilitate and consolidate the desired positioning in the minds of customers, ie consumers. The paper studies retailers with predominantly food products, i.e., high-turnover products. Retailers who sell products of different brands find it more difficult to manage and control the positioning of their brand, and the price image also plays a significant role in this. This paper aims to investigate and compare consumer perception of retailers’ slogans and their price image. A primary survey was conducted with persons participating in the purchase of groceries for their household and included the top five retailers in the Croatian market. The results showed that the slogan of retailers can play an important role in the successful management of the price image. The compliance of the perception of the price image of retailers by the respondents with the associations of their slogans to the price level was noted. Finally, it is concluded that the harmonization of all elements of the retail marketing mix facilitates and strengthens the desired positioning in the minds of consumers, and thus the price image.

Case overview Just Fresh Juice is a small entrepreneurial venture in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), specialising in preparing all-fresh juices, special mixes and fruit salads. The purpose of this paper is to analyse how Just Fresh can maintain its competitive advantage, and how it could sustain its rapid growth in the market and gain more market share in the long run. Just Fresh focuses on satisfying its customers more effectively than its competitors through a competitive strategy of cost leadership (Papulova and Papulova, 2006), direct interaction with the customers through social media (Srinivasan, 2014) and creating a customer experience (Porter, 2008), as delivering a good customer experience is often more effective in building a competitive advantage than optimising internal processes. Expected learning outcomes The purpose of this case is to enable management students to evaluate and analyse a small business established in the United Arab Emirates. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of new business set-up and build proper business strategy. They will be able to perform the company’s competitive standing using Porter’s Five competitive forces and analyse its business strategies as well. The 1995 Ship Production Symposium theme of "Competitiveness" is very timely. Competitive forces for new shipbuilding work are fierce. Any factor affecting competitive advantage which is not pursued and wrestled into submission may be the one that causes a company to be defeated in the battle for survival. The factor which this paper will focus on is Absenteeism Management. The severity of the absenteeism problem for business in general is growing. In a tight market such as shipbuilding, absenteeism can be the difference that results in a company being unable to compete. Those who do not know the degree to which absenteeism affects business should pay close attention.

This chapter examines the implications of business-to-business (B2B) commerce for the buyer-supplier interface. Innovations in electronic commerce have a key role to play in managing inter-organizational networks of supply chain members. The evidence presented in this chapter illustrates that the Internet represents a powerful technology for commerce and communication at the buyer-supplier interface. Internet technologies are having a considerable impact on the communication patterns at the buyer-supplier interface. It is shown how electronic commerce technologies have the potential to create competitive advantage through radically changing the structure and interaction patterns at the buyer-supplier interface. The chapter identifies a number of areas where electronic commerce technologies can make a contribution to the creation of competitive advantage. While the Internet offers ways for organizations to communicate and trade more effectively with their suppliers, and gives consumers higher levels of service and sophistication, it also poses major challenges to those within organizations who have to manage it. It is argued that closed network problems and the nature of buyer-supplier relations present major impediments to electronic commerce achieving its full strategic potential at the buyer-supplier interface.

In an economy characterized by rapid change, continuous innovation and high intensity and dynamism of competition, the analysis of strategy and competitive advantage has shifted from the more aggregate competitive forces to the idea that firms are essentially different and compete on the basis of their specific physical, human and organizational resources. The key to this new view of the firm as a collection of resources both human and material is understanding the relationships between resources, capabilities, competitive advantage, and profitability, in particular, an understanding of the mechanisms through which competitive advantage can be sustained over time. Even if knowledge assets have been widely recognized as the firm’s main value drivers, little guidance is provided of how these unique attributes affect the firm’s profitability and its overall performance. Through a case study research in the IT sector, this chapter provides empirical evidence as regards such interdependencies and analyze the effects of knowledge asset dynamics on firm’s performance and value creation mechanisms.
