This article attempted to trace the existence of Dhâmmong tradition in the following scopes, namely: (1) Madurese perception against Dhâmmong , (2) the function and symbolic meaning of Dhâmmong in human life, and (3) the efforts of the Madurese community to preserve the Dhâmmong tradition. Through a descriptive phenomenological analysis, this study revealed that Dhâmmong is a hereditary tradition carried out by the Madurese community, it is urged by the community’s anxiety caused by the long dry season (némor lanjheng). Dhâmmong functionsas a means for salametan, paying respect for the ancestors, strengthening human relations (silaturrahim ), Bhek Rembhek, and nguri berkah (the fertility of the earth). The offerings and mouth-music by imitating the sounds of animals represent a strong desire and wishof the community for the immediate rainfall that could pour out blessings for the community. Hence, the community’s efforts to preserve Dhâmmong are: (1) introducing and involving the younger generation in the ritual, and (2) setting and changing the time sequence of Dhâmmong implementation from night to daytime.

The digitalization of the economy sector in the industrial revolution 4.0 needs to be approached with a smart attitude so as to not bring loss to both the consumers and the business holders, by transforming the instrument of consumer rights in an updated and a better way. The development of technology has spoiled human beings in all aspects, including in muamalah. like transaction. The society’s rapid consumptive behavior becomes a business opportunity for the investors to invest their capital in the field of trade, which is also rapidly developing. The increasing demand of consumptive products pushes the popularity of online transaction. There exist hundreds of online shops, either official shops or those undergoing transaction through social media. Anyone can be owners of online shops, and the consumers can be adults, teenagers, and even children. This condition causes some problems, such as the misuse of online transaction for deception, offering products which are not the same as the real items, or worse, not sending the products after the consumer has transferred the money. The results show that in online transactions, there are many dishonest sellers who legalize all methods to practice deception, so there needs to be a connection between online transaction and religion with the hope to minimize the chance of harm for both the consumers and the sellers.

The Handicraft of embroidery “palaminan” in Nareh Pariaman is an old culture product which is used for social purposes. As the time goes, now, the “palaminan” is not only used by the king or noblesse. Right now, it has been used in mostly wedding parties of Minangkabau tradition. It is used as the seat of the bride groom and bride who are called king and queen for a day. Regarding this theme, when we see the several various of palaminan, it looks like been influenced by the Chinese and Hindi/Gujarat Custom. Such as phoenix 9(bird) and lion decorated at the “palaminan”, or for the Gujarat custom, there are embroidery with mirrors that decorate the palaminan. The mirror embroidered for the people of Nareh Pariaman has the meaning “suluah bendang” in the village. The art of embroidery palaminan Nareh Pariaman has many structures which are connected to each other. They can not be separated in each use. The structures are decorated by the many kinds of Minangkabau decoration. Most of the decorating comes from application of the Minangkabau’sphilosophy known as “alam takambang Jadi Guru”. The philosophy has symbolic meaning that contains some lessons about managing humans life, especially for people of Nareh Pariaman.Keywords: beyond culture, motif, pelaminan

<div class="WordSection1"><p align="center"> </p><p><em>This study aims to analyze the influence of hedonism and religiosity on the consumptive behavior of students at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, State Islamic Institute of Bukittinggi, West Sumatera, Indonesia. The population in this studi was 3,900 students and the sample was 363 of them that were selected by using the cluster sampling techniques. The results showed that hedonism has a positive influence on the consumptive behavior of students, it means that the higher of the level of hedonism, the higher the consumptive behavior of students. Meanwhile, religiosity was found to have the negative effect on the consumptive behavior of students, its meant that  the higher the level of religious students, the lower the consumptive behavior of students, this study suggests that hedonism and religiosity explain variations in student consumer behavior by 64.5%, while the remaining 35.5% % is explained by other variables not explored in this study. This finding shows that to manage consumption properly, students must control their hedonism and increase their level of religiosity so that they will far from consumptive habits.</em></p><p> </p></div><p align="center"><strong><br clear="all" /></strong></p>

A collection of 30 clay oil lamps from Gunther Grimm's excavations in 1973 in the Western necropolis of Alexandria has been classified by Safaa Samir Abu Al Yazid from Tanta University and found to represent 12 different types ranging in time from the Hellenistic to the late Roman periods in Egypt's ancient history. The present paper looks at this collection from the point of view of the symbolic significance of the decorative motifs used in their decoration. These motifs— figural, floral and geometric—had obvious symbolic meaning to their users and signified more than a simple belief in certain deities. They also reflected Roman Egyptian culture.

Some of the teachings of the Lord Jesus are in the form of a straightforward sentence and some are figurative. The use of the word "leaven" in the few sentences that the Lord Jesus says about vigilance is in the figurative sense. That is why it is necessary to find the word meaning according to the principles of exegesis.The exegetical method used involves establishing the text of the text to be extrapolated, ie Matthew 16: 6, analysis of sentence structure and composing of translations, analysis of the context of the use of yeast at the time, excavation of theological points based on the meaning of words and wording in sentences, and the application of exegesis to the contemporary context.The conclusion of this study is, Jesus uses the term yeast because yeast is something commonly used in society, so its symbolic meaning is easily drawn according to what is understood by society. Yeast depicts the doctrine, and there is a common characteristic of yeast and the characteristics of doctrine; the decay caused by a small amount of yeast does not appear to be the process but the real change, as well as quite a bit of unhealthy teaching that is allowed to contaminate, has the potential to ruin the entire character of a person. Itu sebabnya perlu dicari makna kata tersebut sesuai prinsip-prinsip eksegesis.Metode eksegesis yang digunakan meliputi penetapan teks Alkitab yang akan dieksegesis, yaitu Matius 16:6, analisis struktur kalimat dan menyusun terjemahan, analisis konteks penggunaan ragi pada masa itu, penggalian pokok-pokok teologis berdasarkan arti kata dan susunan kata dalam kalimat, dan penerapan eksegesis kepada konteks masa kini.Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah, Yesus menggunakan istilah ragi karena ragi adalah sesuatu yang umum digunakan dalam masyarakat, sehingga arti simboliknya dengan mudah ditarik berdasarkan apa yang dipahami oleh masyarakat. Ragi menggambarkan ajaran, dan ada kesamaan karakteristik ragi dan karakteristik ajaran; pembusukan yang disebabkan oleh sejumlah kecil ragi tidak nampak prosesnya namun nyata perubahannya, demikian pula cukup sedikit ajaran yang tidak sehat yang dibiarkan mengkontaminasi memiliki potensi untuk merusak seluruh karakter seseorang. Ajaran yang harus diwaspadai adalah pengutamaan terhadap hal-hal yang lahiriah lebih daripada yang rohani, termasuk di dalamnya keangkuhan, kemunafikan, dan pandangan duniawi.Kata kunci: ragi, khamir, ajaran, waspada, Farisi, Saduki.

Feasts of Merit are an important social way of life among different tribes in the world, especially in Southeast Asia. In Northeast India, the different Naga tribes were well-known for this practice before the advent of Christianity. However, among the Chakhesang Nagas, after the advent of Christianity, the practices of giving feasts continue to this day with minor modifications in terms of rituals and taboos while the symbolic meaning and values behind this practice are retained. The Feasts of Merit, among them, are intricately connected to their worldview, whereby the feast-givers distribute their wealth in terms of sacrificing mithun, buffalo, and/or other livestock, in consecutive feasts, and receiving in return a higher social rank and the right to wear a special shawl (“Feasts of Merit” shawl), variously known as hapidasa, elicüra, and thüpikhü and the right to adorn the house with special architecture (mithun and buffalo wood carvings on the wall, and to put up a horn at the pinnacle of the house front). This article discusses the “Feasts of Merit” shawl and how it is connected intrinsically to the ethos of the tribe, and in doing so it states that the Chakhesang feasts can be looked upon as gift economy.
