Bisphosphonates are widely used, whether in osteoporosis or malignant bone disorders. Therefore, it is necessary that there is sufficient knowledge about the adverse effects of this drug, especially in relation to Osteonecrosis of the Jaws Developed by Bisphosphonates, which is a pathology generated in the gnathic bones. So, the following question was asked in the research problem: What is the current situation regarding the use of bisphosphonates and the onset of osteonecrosis of the jaw? Searches were carried out on digital library websites in search of articles and research in books by renowned authors. Inclusion and exclusion criteria for articles found were defined. The verification of each article was carried out so that it could have perspective and follow-up on the subject discussed. The following databases were used: PUBMED, BIREME and LILACS, and SCIELO between the years 2007 to 2019. It was concluded then that Bisphosphonates play a very important role as a cause of osteonecrosis of the jaws, where the prognosis will be worse if the patient is treated with intravenous rather than oral types.

AbstractAntiresorptive drugs operate in the bone metabolism modulation and are widely used in the treatment of bone metastases and bone losses related to hormonal deficiency. Although this therapy shows satisfactory results, there are adverse effects associated with its use, such as osteonecrosis of the jaws. Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) is, therefore, a serious and challenging condition with important implications in dentistry. The aim was to conduct a narrative literature review on anti-resorptive drugs and their latest repercussions on the maxillary bones. The review was carried out through a bibliographic search using Decs/Mesh descriptors of interest, in Portuguese and English, in the PubMed, Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Scielo databases. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 33 studies were selected for analysis. It can be noticed that therapy with anti-resorptive agents is complex, especially in dental practice, since MRONJ is a complication that is difficult to manage. Regarding the therapeutic options, these are divided into conservative, surgical or adjuvant therapy, however, there are no protocols in the literature, and there is no consistency regarding the indication of the suspension of the drug administration - "Drug Holiday". Thus, it is important that the multidisciplinary team seeks strategies that minimize complications and promote control over the use of these drugs. In addition, there is a need for investigations that contribute with guidelines for the management and control of adverse effects resulting from therapy with antiresorptive drugs. Keywords: Bone Density Conservation Agents. Diphosphonates. Denosumab. Bisphosphonate-Associated Osteonecrosis of the Jaw. Riedel’s thyroiditis is a rare entity consisting of a fibrotic process of the thyroid which can generate gland destruction, infiltration of cervical structures and even airway obstruction. It has been associated with systemic fibrotic disorders, autoimmune diseases, and more recently with spectrum of diseases related to excess of Immunoglobulin G type 4 (IgG4). Two cases of Riedel’s thyroiditis by IgG4, confirmed by immunohistochemistry and was managed surgically with favorable results during the follow-up time, are presented. These case descriptions highlight the diagnostic challenge of this disease, describe the response with surgical management, and make a brief update on the subject.

Objective: Mind wandering, the unintended shifting of attention from a task, has been previously associated with symptoms of ADHD. To this end, we conducted a literature search to investigate the association between mind wandering and ADHD. Method: We conducted a systematic search of the literature of relevant articles assessing mind wandering and ADHD in PubMed, PsycINFO/OVID, and Medline. Included were original articles in English that had operationalized definitions of ADHD and mind wandering, adequate sample size, and reliance on statistical evaluation of findings. Excluded were reviews, opinions, and case reports. Results: Only nine studies met our a priori inclusion and exclusion criteria ( N = 8 in adults; N = 1 in pediatrics). Findings suggest that ADHD is frequently associated with spontaneous mind wandering and when present heralds more functional impairments. Conclusion: The limited research on mind wandering in ADHD indicates that it is prevalent and morbid supporting further research on the subject.

Environmental and/or work risk factors, lack of basic knowledge related to voice, its incorrect use, and a defective vocal model can lead teachers to develop occupational dysphonia. This study aimed to analyze studies focusing on occupational vocal disorders through a literature review. Articles published over a period of 11 years in periodicals indexed in the ScieLO library were searched according to predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Twenty articles related to teachers' vocal occupational disorders were found. We argue that intense vocal use should not harm professionals; the voice has to be pleasant to the speaker and correctly produced. The conclusion is that there is a scarcity of articles available at the studied library relating to teachers' voice disorders. Further studies need to be developed and disseminated so as to increase knowledge in the subject.

Abstract Background Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), which was first reported as bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) in bisphosphonate users, is a rare but severe soft and hard tissue disease induced by several types of medications. There has been a deluge of information about MRONJ, such as epidemiology, risk factors, clinical recommendations for dental treatment to prevent it, and treatment strategies in medication-prescribed users. The aim of this study was to comprehensively review recent articles and provide the current scientific information about MRONJ, especially clinical considerations or recommendations for dental treatment to prevent its occurrence. Materials and methods The current literature review was mainly based on 14 systematic reviews with or without meta-analysis, 4 position papers, 1 consensus statement, 1 clinical guideline, and 2 clinical reviews regarding MRONJ after a PubMed database and manual searches according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Moreover, 53 articles were selected by manual search in regard to all references from selected articles and other articles identified on the PubMed search, irrespective of publication date, and inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results The incidence and prevalence of MRONJ are relatively low, although they are clearly higher in cancer patients receiving high-dose antiresorptive agents or angiogenesis inhibitors rather than osteoporosis patients receiving oral bisphosphonates or denosumab. There are many types of local, systemic, and other risk factors for the development of MRONJ. Clinical recommendations are provided for each clinical situation of patients to prevent MRONJ. There are also treatment strategies for MRONJ in each stage. Conclusions General dentists should perform appropriate dental treatment to prevent MRONJ in the patients prior to or when receiving medications that could induce MRONJ. Moreover, there are treatment strategies for MRONJ in each stage that oral surgeons could follow. Adequate and updated clinical information regarding MRONJ based on scientific data is required whenever possible.

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a serious complication in patients receiving antiresorptive therapies for bone neoplastic localizations and osteoporosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinicopathological features of MRONJ in a cohort of patients treated by new antiresorptive drugs (denosumab) and the corresponding outcome after 13-year maximum follow-up. Overall, 244 patients affected by MRONJ were treated from 2003 to 2015. After clinical and radiological examinations, all lesions were staged according to a dimensional staging system and then surgically treated. All the denosumab-related lesions were classified as stage II or III, thus requiring a more or less invasive surgical approach, despite the results of many recent studies, which suggested a conservative medical approach with early resolution for MRONJ in patients on denosumab. In the current series, 86.9% of treated lesions showed complete clinical and radiological healing, while 13.1% recurred; all recurrences were detected in patients who could not interrupt chemotherapy, steroids, and/or antiresorptive drugs administration due to their general conditions. In conclusion, all oral specialists should be aware of the MRONJ risk among patients taking new antiresorptive drugs; moreover, our protocol based on surgical treatment guided by dimensional staging could be considered effective in view of the low recurrence rate.

The development of children was traced to 5 and 7 months. In the case of urinoma of large size, there was no renal function after birth. According to the literature review, renal function was retained after birth in only 8 of 38 children (21 %). Conclusion: urinoma is a rare serious complication that indicates significant damage to the kidney after obstruction, which often leads to a violation or absence of the function of the affected kidney. If the diagnosis of urinoma was in prenatal life, it is important to inform parents about the bad prognosis.

Background: Research shows that there is a high prevalence of suicide among nurses. Despite this, it has been 15 years since the last literature review on the subject was published. Aim: The aim of this article is to review the knowledge currently available on the risk of suicide among nurses and on contributory risk factors. Method: A search was conducted in electronic databases using keywords related to prevalence and risk factors of suicide among nurses. The abstracts were analyzed by reviewers according to selection criteria. Selected articles were submitted to a full-text review and their key elements were summarized. Results: Only nine articles were eligible for inclusion in this review. The results of this literature review highlight both the troubling high prevalence of suicide among nurses as well as the persistent lack of studies that examine this issue. Conclusion: Considering that the effects of several factors related to nurses' work and work settings are associated with high stress, distress, or psychiatric problems, we highlight the relevance of investigating work-related factors associated with nurses' risk of suicide. Several avenues for future studies are discussed as well as possible research methods.
