In the present research we evaluated the effectiveness of the Laboratory Centers (L.C.) of the Technical and Vocational Secondary Schools in Athens, Greece in relation to the needs of the labor market, through teachers’ and graduates’ point of views. The research method followed was quantitative and concerned the L.C. that are subject to the Athens Secondary Education Administration. The findings of the research reveal that the curricula that are implemented by the L.C. are effective, as they meet the needs of the labor market, but they also highlight significant problems related to the lack of connection between the Greek L.C. and the local society and labor market as well as problems related to the laboratory infrastructures and to the teachers’ training needs. The originality of the present study lies in the participation of L.C. graduates, who contributed to the revelation of the main obstacles that arise in the relationship between the educational process and the real educational needs.

The article is dedicated to the actuality of the problem of implementing a gender approach as key in creating a non-discriminatory school environment in the conditions of reforming the educational system of Ukraine. The authors’ understanding of the essence of the non-discriminatory environment in an educational institution as safe, healthy, inclusive and gender-equitable is given; the role of a teacher in this process is indicated. The essence of the gender approach and the peculiarities of its implementation in the general secondary education institutions are revealed. The results of the study of the content and prevalence of gender views and stereotypes among teachers of both sexes are presented. It has been found that most educators are heavily influenced by traditional views on the relationship between the genders. The differences in the gender perceptions of female teachers and male teachers depending on age and teaching experience have been revealed. About 20% of teachers implement a gender approach in school practice. It is empirically proved, that pedagogical groups deepen differentiation of social and psychological requirements and expectations regarding pupils and students. Most teachers remain uncertain in their gender orientations, profess the ideology of complementarity of male and female roles. The educational process in secondary education establishments reinforces traditional views on the dichotomy of women and men social roles and to a lesser extent demonstrates the equality and equivalence of both sexes, capable of assertive behavior and the interchangeability of gender roles. Prospects for further research outline a further need to determine ways to develop the egalitarian culture of teachers of general secondary education.

Chapter 7 is dedicated to secondary education and the matriculation exam. Although only comprising a fraction of the student population, these private and governmental schools represented Palestine’s Ivy League. History instruction in these schools, which was heavily influenced by the Department’s Matriculation exam, was frequently discussed in meetings of the Palestine Board for Higher Studies (PBHS) that oversaw secondary and postsecondary education. This pedagogical attention was clearly disproportional to its quantitative share in the student population. Analysis of PBHS’ internal debates and the history syllabi of secondary schools sheds much light on the relationship between history teaching, identity, and nationalism.

Population of the study was constituted all principals, teachers and students of degree colleges, intermediate colleges and higher secondary schools. A randomized sample of forty degree colleges was selected comprizing forty intermediate colleges and forty higher secondary schools (gender-wise equal). Participants’ responses were collected via questionnaire. After the data tabulation, it was examined and explained in the light of research objectives. Statistical tests like mean, standard deviation, standard error of mean and estimated population mean were employed. The study revealed that from the findings of the study A.V Aids were not appropriately used, teachers’ pay scales were not satisfactory and secondary level curriculum did not meet the academic needs. Therefore, the researchers consider provision of modern audio-visual aids to the institutions to be important, besides the teachers training and motivation to utlize these audiovisual aids for enhancement of instructional process. Moreover, it is suggested that adequate budgetry allocation for education and improving the pay scales of the teachers will enhance the quality of education.

The data were collected from twopublic secondary schools in the emirate of Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A sample of purposefullyselected 54 Grade 10 students from both schools was surveyed with a VAK questionnaire. SPSS was used tocompare the mean of the two standard-based tests. The results show that there is a relationship between a learningstyle-based, task-based learning (TBL) model and Madaras Al Ghad (Arabic translation for Schools of Future: MAG)learners’ achievement in standard-based language tests. The theoretical implications of the findings are discussedin this paper, together with recommendations pertaining to the significance of considering students’ learning stylesand task-based learning in the educational process. The current educational theoretical and practical discourse intensively highlights the issue of the relationship between the mentor and mentee, in other words, the style of mentoring. The issue of influence of mentoring style to the development of mentees’ pedagogical and didactic competencies is still not sufficiently investigated. The purpose of the study is to explore mentoring styles and examine their contribution to the development of pedagogical didactic competencies of mentees. Reflective reports of student teachers (N=10) who had their internship practice in secondary schools, were analyzed using content (deductive) analysis method. The findings suggest that emerging mentoring style depends on the age and the previous pedagogical experience of mentee’s: young and having no pedagogical practice mentees tend to follow the traditional-hierarchical mentoring relationship, while older and with some pedagogical experience mentees prefer to practice reciprocal relationship with their mentors. Anyway, in both highlighted cases, the emphasis of mentors is placed on the development of didactical competencies rather than pedagogical. The prevailing mentor – mentee relationship in secondary education and implications for the professional identity of student teachers are discussed as well.

The aim of this research is to present a proposed concept based on the viewpoint of education experts for the development of secondary education in Iraq. The researcher sought to get acquainted with its reality and identify the problems which faces. The descriptive analytical methodology had been used, where the research tool as a questionnaire consisted of (30) items distributed in five areas: school buildings and equipment, curriculum and teaching methods, teaching staff preparation and training, evaluation and exams, and students. The research questionnaire sample consisted of a group of experts who were chosen intentionally, amounting to (50) experts. Those who were of scientific positions, experts in secondary education and those who practiced education and supervision in the secondary schools and university levels, for a period of nearly (40) years. Moreover, their experiences were in various universities and governorates. The results of the research revealed that the mathematical averages at the device field reached (4.32), at the level of buildings and educational equipment reached (4.35), the field of curriculum and teaching methods as well as the field of teachers (4.41), meanwhile the field of evaluation and exams reached (4.35) and the field of students got (4.12). Based on these obtained results, this perception concept has been proposed for the development of secondary education in Iraq. The researcher suggested conducting other studies to benefit from the experiences of countries that fought similar recent wars, to show how to overcome their crises. Finally, the researcher recommended applying the proposed methodology on the teacher’s side, first of all being the cornerstone of the educational process.
