ResumoRemanescentes florestais inseridos em paisagens produtivas tornam-se importantes ambientes de conservação in situ da biodiversidade local. O objetivo deste trabalho foi descrever os aspectos florísticos e fitossociológicos de remanescentes de Floresta Ombrófila Mista presentes em uma fazenda produtora de Pinus, localizada no município de Ponte Alta, SC. Foi empregado o método de quadrantes, registrando-se os indivíduos arbóreos mais próximos do ponto central que apresentasse DAP ≥ 5 cm. Foram amostrados 20 fragmentos com 20 pontos quadrantes/fragmento, calculando-se os índices de valor de importância das espécies. Foram registrados 1.500 indivíduos, pertencentes a 97 espécies e 34 famílias. Myrtaceae, Asteraceae, Lauraceae e Solanaceae apresentaram a maior riqueza de espécies, representando aproximadamente 45% do total. Fabaceae, Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae e Myrtaceae apresentaram o maior número de indivíduos. Mimosa scabrella Benth., Cryptocarya aschersoniana Mez, Dicksonia sellowiana Hook. apresentaram os maiores índices de valor de importância. D. sellowiana apresentou valores representativos dos três descritores levantados neste trabalho, enquanto M. scabrella se destacou pela frequencia e C. aschersoniana pela dominância. Os remanescentes florestais da fazenda apresentam-se como locais potenciais de conservação in situ de espécies ameaçadas da Floresta Ombrófila Mista, podendo servir como fontes de propágulos para restauração de áreas com maior impacto antrópico. AbstractFloristic and phytosociological analysis of the trees of remaining fragments in a Pinus spp. producing farm as subsidies for restoration. Remaining fragments inserted into productive landscapes become important conservation sites for local biodiversity. The aim of this study was to describe floristic and phytosociological aspects of Mixed Ombrophylous Forest that remains present in a Pinus producing farm, located in Ponte Alta, SC. The quadrant method was used, registering the individual tree closest to the central point which showed DBH ≥ 5 cm. Twenty fragments were sampled with 20 points quadrants/fragment. Relative density, relative frequency, relative dominance, and importance value index were calculated. It was recorded 1,500 individuals belonging to 97 species and 34 families. Myrtaceae, Asteraceae, Lauraceae and Solanaceae presented the greatest species richness, approximately 45%. Fabaceae, Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae and Myrtaceae showed the largest number of individuals. Mimosa scabrella Benth., Cryptocarya aschersoniana Mez, Dicksonia sellowiana Hook contributed with the highest values of importance value index. D. sellowiana showed three representative values of the descriptors raised in this work, while M. scabrella sttod by the frequency and C. aschersoniana for dominace. The forest remaining are presented as potential sites of in-situ conservation, with species ocurring in the Mixed Ombrophylous Forest, which can serve as sources for propagules on restoration of permanent preservation areas in the farm.Keywords: Atlantic Forest; Mixed Ombrophylous Forest; Regeneration; Restoration.

This research aims to analyze the vegetation that grow around the tandui plants/ This research done to support for the ex situ and in situ conservation of natural resources,The data collected in this research used proposive sampling methodd with 15 observation plots starting from seedlings, saplings, poles and trees. The analysis data was used the Importance Value Index (INP). The results showed that the seedling rate was dominated by Jambu Air (Syzygium aqueum) 114.65%, Karet (Hevea brasiliensis) 63.38%, Ramania (Bouea macrophylla) 47.92%, sapling rate was dominated by Karet (Hevea brasiliensis) 60.5%, Jambu Biji (Syzygium aqueum) 48.19%, Jingah (Gluta renghas) 41.77%, the pole level was dominated by Karet (Hevea brasiliensis) 175.60%, Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum) 148.62% , Sungkai (Peronema canescens) 126.64% and the tree level is dominated by Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) 191.82%, Kelapa (Cocos nucifera) 108.78% and Langsat (Lansium domesticum) 84.60%

This study was conducted from March 2017 to August 2018, to enumerate the quantitative attributes and current status of medicinal plants of Sheen Ghar Valley, District Dir Lower, Pakistan. A total of 51 species were documented for their medicinal uses. These plants belonged to 31 families. Results of this study revealed that leaves were the frequently used part (50%), followed by whole plants (only 30%) in curing different ailments. Many plants were found to be having multiple uses. Based on family importance value (FIV), Lamiaceae was the leading plant family (126.30) followed by Violaceae (55.81), while highest relative frequency of citation (RFC) was noted for Viola canescens (0.558) followed by Olea europaea (0.523). Conservation study revealed that 24 species (47%) were vulnerable, 22 species (43%) were rare and 4 species (8%) were noted as infrequent. Following IUCN standards for conservation, one species i.e. Hypericum perforatum was declared dominant. This study recommends immediate ex-situ and in-situ conservation programme for protecting the plant wealth of the locality.

Among the several factors that negatively influence cowpea culture, weeds have been responsible for the reduction of growth, development and productive performance of the crop, making it necessary to establish management strategies based on phytosociological studies of weed species in growing areas. Therefore, the objective of this research was to evaluate the floristic composition of weeds, aiming to identify the main species and their dynamics, and to consider their distribution in time and space as pertaining to the cultivation of a modern variety of cowpea, cv. BRS Novaera, in dystrophic Red-Yellow Argisol, in the Midnorth region of the state of Piauí, Brazil. The phytosociological survey of weeds was carried out in three sessions: the first one was immediately before the area was desiccated with glyphosate (15 days before sowing the cowpea), and the others were at 20 and 40 days after sowing (DAS). Following the quantification of species and number of individuals, the following phytosociological parameters were calculated: frequency and relative frequency; density and relative density; abundance and relative abundance; and importance value index. It was concluded that there were few changes in the floristic composition of the weed community according to the epoch of the phytosociological surveys. The main weed plants at 20 DAS of cowpea (vegetative phase) were Chamaesyce hirta, Digitaria insularis, Alternanthera tenella, Cleome affinis, Mollugo verticillata and Portulaca oleracea. At 40 days (reproductive phase), the weed species with a large establishment and acting as potential competitors with cv. BRS Novaera cowpea were Digitaria insularis, Chamaesyce hirta and Mollugo verticillata.

Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens fulgens), globally an endangered species of Himalaya, were studied in Simsime community forest of Papung Village Development Committee (VDC) in Taplejung district. It was carried out to assess status, habitat characteristics and threats to Red Panda. Three transects were laid out along the contours and their total length was 2200 m. The altitude of these transects varied from 2800–3400m. While moving along the transect line, the signs such as pellets, footprints and nests of Red Panda were searched and the GPS points were recorded in those places where the signs were observed. The habitat was assessed simultaneously to describe its characteristics in this community forest. Square plots of 10m * 10m, 4m * 4m and 1m*1m were laid out to assess trees, shrubs and herbs, respectively along contour lines at an altitudinal interval of 200 m between 2800 m and 3400 m and the plots were spaced at a distance of 100 m. Diameter at breast height (DBH) of major tree species (Juniperus spp., Pinus spp., Acer spp. and Rhododendron spp) was measured in the plots. The signs were found in Simsime community forest at an altitude of 3026 m, 3125 m and 3127 m. Overall sign encounter rate for this community forest was 1.36/km. Acer spp. had the highest Importance Value Index (IVI) and Arundinaria malingers the major bamboo species with highest relative frequency (RF). Based on direct field observation, major threats to Red Panda were found to be grazing and bamboo cutting in which majority of the respondents agreed.

The study was conducted in protected woodland and free graze woodland located in Dugda Woreda, Oromia state, Ethiopia. The objective of the study was to explore the floristic composition, structure, and regeneration of woody species. In the park, the vegetation ecology has not been studied up to date, which is necessary for conservation. The systematic sampling technique was used to collect vegetation and human disturbance (presence and absence) data from August to December 2017. The vegetation data were collected from 30 plots from each woodland with a size of 900 m2 (30 m × 300 m) for tree/shrub, while subplots of size 400 m2 (20 m × 20 m) for sapling, respectively, were established in the main plots. Individual tree and shrub diameters at breast height (DBH) ≥2.5 cm and height ≥ 2 m were measured using a tape meter and clinometer, respectively. Diameter at breast height (DBH), frequency, density, basal area, and importance value index (IVI) were used for vegetation structure description, while the densities of mature trees, sapling, and seedling were used for regeneration. A total of 446 individual stems from free grazed woodland and 641 individual stems from protected woodland with a DBH of ≥2.5 cm were encountered from 30 studied sample plots that are protected and free grazed woodlands. Of these, from the total woody species, 68.42% were trees and 31.57% shrubs found in protected woodland; 76.92% were trees and 23.07% shrubs found in free grazed woodland. The total basal area of the woody plant was 3.1 ± 1 m2/ha in free grazed woodland and 4.2 ± 2 m2/ha in protected woodland, calculated for 19 woody species. Fabaceae, Balanitaceae, Capparidaceae, Verbenaceae, and Boraginaceae families were the most abundant families in both woodlands. However, there is a good initiation for the conservation of the park; still, the vegetation of the park was threatened by human-induced fire following intensive farming, gold mining, and overgrazing.

This study evaluated the soil seed bank’s germination potential and density in five distinct environmental areas namely: a) regenerated forest, b) secondary forest, c) degraded pasture, d) Eucalyptus sp. plantation and e) fallow corn growing area, with a view to regenerate forests in Western Amazonia using tray germination methodology. We assessed floristic similarity and diversity using the Jaccard Similarity Index and the Shannon Diversity Index, respectively. We computed each species’ phytosociological parameters: density, frequency and importance value of each species. We recorded a total 3674 individuals from 51 species and 21 families. The families with the highest species richness were Asteraceae, Malvaceae, Cyperaceae and Poaceae that contributed to 43% of the total species observed. The most important species computed in the phytosociological analysis were Chamaesyce hirta, Corchorus aestuans, Cyperus iria and Chamaesyce prostrata. All species had a herbaceous life form, which in the literature, are considered weeds. We documented the largest number of individuals in the fallow corn growing area that had 3620 plants m-2 and the smallest number in the regenerated forest that had 183 plants m-2. We observed the greatest floristic similarity between the secondary forest and Eucalyptus sp. plantation (40%), and the greatest floristic diversity in the Eucalyptus sp. plantation (H '= 2.59 nats individual-1). In conclusion, the transposition of the soil seed bank is not recommended for forest regeneration and recovery in degraded areas due to massive weed predominance in the soil seed bank.

This study aims to determine the spread of herbal vegetation in the environment of the campus environment of UNWIRA Penfui Kupang, by applying vegetation parameters including density, relative density, frequency, relative frequency, dominance, relative dominance, Importance Value Index (INP), and Comparison Important Value (SDR). The method used in this study is the quadratic method, with the determination of the sampling point divided into two observation stations, based on open and sheltered areas with each station there are 5 observation plots with a size of 1x1 m2. The results of research conducted in the environment of the campus environment of UNWIRA Penfui Kupang found 7 types of herbal plants namely Solanum nigrum, Mussaenda frondosa, Oplismenus hirtellus, Amaranthus viridis, Eclipta L, Bidens pilosa, Imperata cylindrical and the composition of the highest number of individuals were Oplismenus hirtellus. The amount of diversity index value of basket grass plants (Oplismenus hirtellus) is 0.146 with a large amount of basket grass plants tend to be more stable compared to the other 6 plants found. Index value of vegetation diversity of herbaceous plants obtained is 0.782, so species diversity is lacking.

<p>O experimento foi conduzido na horta da Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA), no período de setembro a dezembro de 2009, com o objetivo de realizar o levantamento fitossociológico nos seguintes tratamentos: sistema de monocultivo da cenoura (<em>Daucus carota</em>) e sistema de cultivo da cenoura consorciada com rabanete (<em>Raphanus sativus</em>). Para cada sistema de plantio foram realizadas 24 amostragens em quadrados vazados de 0,50 m de lado, onde as plantas daninhas foram coletadas e separadas por espécie, para determinação das seguintes características: número total de indivíduos por espécie, número total de parcelas que contém a espécie, freqüência, freqüência relativa, densidade, densidade relativa, abundância, abundância relativa, massa seca, massa seca relativa, índice de valor de importância (IVI), e o índice de valor de importância incluindo a massa seca (IVI-MS). Foram identificadas 19 espécies, distribuídas em 12 famílias botânicas. A família mais representativa foi a Poaceae, seguida por Portulacaceae, Cyperaceae, Tumeraceae, Euphorbiaceae, Malvaceae, Amaranthaceae, Rubiaceae, Fabaceae, Molluginaceae, Convolvulaceae e Asteraceae. As áreas conduzidas no sistema de consórcio apresentaram redução de 13,2% na massa seca pelas plantas daninhas, embora a densidade não tenha sido alterada. A espécie de planta daninha Portulaca oleracea se destacou em relação às demais por ter acumulado 40,21 e 47,31% da massa seca produzidas infestantes em monocultivo e consórcio, respectivamente.</p><p align="center"><strong><em>Phyto-sociological survey of weed in carrot’s cultivation in monocrop and intercropped with radish</em></strong></p><p><strong>Abstract: </strong>Was conducted the experiment in didact garden at the Rural Federal University of Semi-Arid, from September to December 2009, in order to carry out the phytosociological survey in the treatments: monocrop system of carrot (<em>Daucus carota</em>) and intercropping system of carrot with radish (<em>Raphanus sativus</em>). For each planting system were conducted 24 sampling on leaked squares of 0.50 m side, where the weeds were collected and separated by species, to determine the characteristics: total number of individuals per species, total number of parcels containing the species, frequency, relative frequency, density, relative density, abundance, relative abundance, dry matter, relative dry matter, importance value index (IVI), and importance value index including the dry matter (IVI-DM). 19 species were identified, distributed in 12 botany families. The Poaceae was the most representative family, followed in descending order of presence by Portulacaceae, Cyperaceae, Tumeraceae, Euphorbiaceae, Malvaceae, Amaranthaceae, Rubiaceae, Fabaceae, molluginaceae, Convolvulaceae and Asteraceae. In the areas conducted in intercropping system there was a decrease by 13.2% in dry matter of weeds, although its density remained constant. The specie, Portulaca oleracea, stands out over the others for having accumulated 40.21 and 47.31% of dry matter in monocrop and intercrop systems, respectively.</p>

The present investigation proposes to study the ecosystem services linked to water and floristic diversity in the Igualata paramo of the Hualcanga region; 5 sampling plots of 25 m2 were installed, with 4 subplots of 1 m2. 30 samples of terrestrial vascular plants were obtained, identifying 17 botanical families, 26 genera, and 27 species, and 1 lichen and 1 moss of unidentified family and genus. It was determined that the species that stands out with the highest importance value index was Lachemilia orgiculata with 44.06%, because the species was found in 4 of the 5 study plots. In second place we have Calamagrostis intermedia species with 8.21%, while the species Vicea sp. was the species with the lowest importance value index of 0.50%, being the species with the lowest number of individuals. The Rosaceae family presented the highest index with 39.61%. The Poaceae and Asteraceae families also present dominance in this ecosystem with values of 9.63% and 5.79%, respectively. According to the Shannon index, plots P2 and P4 were those with high diversity, which corroborates with what was obtained in the Simpson index; the Sorensen index showed us that plots P4 and P5 are very similar, plots P1 and P3 are fairly similar, and the remaining plots are dissimilar, which indicated that vegetation can be found in certain areas of the investigation. The water flow supplying the resident families of the region was found to be 8.12 L/s, and its ecological flow is of 0.83 L/s, having a flow that satisfies the needs of the inhabitants. Resumen La presente investigación propone: estudiar los servicios ecosistémicos ligados al agua y diversidad florística en el páramo del Igualata regional Hualcanga; se instalaron cinco parcelas de muestreo de 25 m2 con 4 sub parcelas de 1 m2, se obtuvo 30 muestras de plantas vasculares terrestres, identificando 17 familias botánicas, 26 géneros y 27 especies, además se colectó 1 liquen y 1 musgo de familia, género y especie no identificado. Se determinó que la especie que sobresale con mayor índice de valor de importancia fue Lachemilia orgiculata con un 44,06%, esto se debe a que la especie se encontraba en 4 de las 5 parcelas de estudio, en segundo lugar, tenemos a Calamagrostis intermedia especie con 8,21%, mientras que la especie Vicea sp. fue la que menor índice de valor de importancia presentó con un 0,50% esto se debe a que fue la especie con menor cantidad de individuos. La familia Rosaceae presentó el mayor índice con 39,61%, las familias Poaceae, y Asteraceae presentan una dominancia en este ecosistema con valores de 9,63% 5,79%, respectivamente. De acuerdo al índice de Shannon las parcelas 2 y 4 son las que poseen diversidad alta que se corrobora con lo obtenido en el índice de Simpson; en el índice de Sorensen nos muestra que las parcelas P4 vs P5 son muy similares las parcelas P1 y P3 son medianamente similares y las parcelas restantes son disimiles lo que indica que la vegetación se puede encontrar en ciertas zonas de la investigación. El caudal que posee la Regional es de 8,12 L/s, abasteciendo a las familias y su caudal ecológico es de 0,83 L/s teniendo un caudal que satisface las necesidades de los pobladores. Vegetation is a collection of plants that usually consist of several species and live together in one place. Vegetation analysis is a way of studying the composition (component type) and the shape (structure) of vegetation or vegetation communities. Forests are the most important habitat component of life, hence the condition of plant communities within the forest, whether plant species composition, species dominance, density or closure of the canopy should be measured. The island of Sumatra is one of the most diverse ecoregion regions in the world. World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) as one of the world's conservation organizations incorporates mountainous rainforest as a conservation area. The Sumatra mountain forests are one of the 200 critically endorsed ecoregions and a priority of global conservation. Mount Dempo is a protected forest area located on a cluster of hills line the island of Sumatra. This mountain has a height of 3159 asl (above sea level) and is the highest mountain in the area of South Sumatra. This study aims to determine the diversity of plants in the protected forest vegetation of Mount Dempo, Pagar Alam City, South Sumatera. Vegetation analysis was done by purposive sampling with bitterlich method, i.e measurement done on plot measuring 2x2, 5x5, 10x10, and 20x20 m. Analyzes were performed on two plots of different locations, and all plant species found in each plot were recorded of the type and amount. The parameters measured include the type name, the individual number of each type, the diameter, the height, and the height of the free branch. The results obtained at the Importance Value Index (INP) in Gunung Dempo, Pagar Alam of 294 stated that Mount Dempo has a high vegetation that is still preserving the existing plant, but it is also able to used as tourist visit as the stage of environmental and nature care.
