This study aims to explain the feminism of the Suar character in the novel “Catatan Juang” by Fiersa Besari in terms of liberalist feminism and post-modern feminism. This research method is a qualitative descriptive method. The source of data in this research is the novel "Catatan Juang" by Fiersa Besari. The research data is in the form of the depiction of the main character in the novel. The results of this study indicate that,1) the liberal feminism of the Suar character who wants to be considered equal to men through strengthening in the public space, and 2) the post-modern feminism of the Suar character which shows the equality of men and women based on language and thought patterns.

This study aimed to describe the personality structure of the main character in Marwah Mamdouh’s novel Na'am Ahwaka using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic approach. Marwah Mamdouh presented a fictional story that illustrated the personality structure form, namely the condition of the soul and the emotional outbursts experienced by the character. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method to express the personality structure forms of the main characters in the novel. The obtained research data as words, phrases, sentences, and discourse showed the personality structure of the main characters in the novel. The findings of the research were narratives that showed the structure of personality comprising, first, Id which was a part of the psychology; second, Ego which was the only area of the mind that had contact with the reality; third, Super Ego was the absorption of individuals from combined values and moral values that provide a boundary between the good and bad things. This study concluded that id dominated all the problems experienced by the main character in the novel.

Language has an important role in everyday human life in society. Jargon is a kind of language that is only used by certain communities as daily communication among its members. The jargon used by the transgender community is very interesting to understand because the jargon has its own form and meaning in its disclosure and can find out how the variety of jargon-shaped language used by transgenders in hiding their secrets so as not to be known by the public. It is evident that not all users of other languages understand the jargon. In this study, the researchers analyzed the jargon used by the waria community in the salon. This study aims to determine the jargon and describe and understand the meaning of the jargon used by the transgender community in interacting orally. The source of the research data was obtained from the subject, namely the transgender women who worked at the Retah salon in Pamulang, who used jargon in their daily communication with transgender women and sometimes with their customers. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method, which describes and conveys data objectively. Describe the jargon terms of transgender language as the object of research. The data collection technique used is observation or see and note. The result of this research is the jargon used by waria in the form of transgender language vocabulary. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was found that 20 pieces of jargon used by transgender women in the salon were akika, rapose, capcus, endang gurindang, ink, sekong, belenjong, cucok, metong, hamidah, lekong, sapose, capcay, begindang, bala-bala, sindang. , lambreta, grasshopper, mesong, and mursida.Keywords: Waria, Jargon, Vocabulary

The research is concerned with types of love faced by Tara Dupont, the main character of the novel Autumn in Paris, written by Ilana Tan.  The types of love: friendship, infatuated love, romantic love and consummate love are the main focus of the study.  The objective is to find out how Tara Dupont implements the types of love in relationship with people around her. One of the theories used in the research is Robert Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love  which states that love has three components:  intimacy, passion and commitment  and these three components are to be applied to obtain or run real love.  Qualitative descriptive method is applied for the whole analysis.  The finding shows that types of love are found in the novel Autumn in Paris. Friendship appears in a relationship between Tara, Sebastien and Tatsuya. Romantic love and infatuated love are the dominant types of love and consummate love is the rarest.

This study aims to describe the struggles experienced by the two main characters in the novel in getting their freedom and also to elaborate the important of freedom for the main characters as human rights. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive method with the sociology of literature approach. The primary data were collected from descriptions and utterances of the main characters and narrators in the novel. The supporting data were obtained from the library, internet, journals, and articles. The results of this research indicate that there is struggle of the main characters in obtaining their freedom as a human in this novel. Huckleberry Finn as the main character fought for his freedom from a drunk and abusive father, while Jim, as the second main character fought for his freedom from slavery. The two figures then met and made an adventure together to get their own freedom.

But in a fact, the icon of Samarinda is not desirable again by the public because they have an issue that makes this icon become weak and has not good quality or as a good public space standardization (Issue of Concern), such as security, safety, health, attraction, comfort, accessibility and also raciness . And to comply those criteria, it should be have good components (Scope of Issue), for this research it can be used qualitative descriptive method it based on the fact in the field and also the real evidence. This approach based on revitalization theory and good space public theory. For the conclusion, the standardization, a space of quality must have normative criteria so a space public can be survive. Thisstudy aims to describe and explain the picture of the inner conflict experienced by the main characterin the story. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The source of this research data isa novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan and Surga yang Tak Dirindukan 2 by Asma Nadia, published byAsma Nadia Publishing House, Depok 2014 and 2016. The data of this research is in the form of wordsor sentences in the novel. The results of this study are (1) The inner conflicts of the main character Ariniin the novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan and Surga yang Tak Dirindukan 2 of Asma Nadia, in the formof conflict within Arini. This research aims to analyze the aspect of Love and Belonging needs. The Hierarchy of Needs theory is used to analyze what everyone needs in their lives and how to meet those needs. The Hierarchy of Needs consists of five levels consisting of basic needs, security needs, the need for love and ownership, the need for self-esteem, and the need for self-satisfaction. As considerations in this study using the theory of the Hierarchy of Needs from Abraham Maslow 1954 who analyzed the need for love and ownership of the main character in the novel Persuasion by Jane Austen 1817. Anne as a figure in the Persuasion novel by Jane Austen 1817 is a girl who is trying to improve the hierarchy of Needs love and the interests of family and girls love. In analyzing this study, researchers used a qualitative descriptive method as a technique for collecting data. The data collected by researchers based on the object of this study are the needs of love and ownership of the main character in the novel Persuasion by Jane Austen 1817. Data collected includes speech, action, sentence, and narration relating to the blindness of love and the main character in the story. Research is made for purposes that are useful for discussion and for other parties, and for this research purposes about humans that will meet the needs and effects of if these needs are not met.

Women’s movement is in order to reach the equality of right with men in many aspects, such as politic, social, economy and culture. Everyone should be treated as equals unless special circumstances apply regardless of the role of men or women. The problem undertaken in this research relate to feminism, specifically on types of feminism within the female characters in the novel and the reflection of the feminism itself in the ongoing developments of the characters. The aims of the research are to elaborate types of feminism and their reflection on feminism in novel little women. This research used a qualitative descriptive method and the source of data taken from Little Women novel. As the result of the research, it described that there are four types of feminism from the novel little women. The characters in the novel reflected in Liberal feminism, Marxist feminism, Existentialist feminism, and Radical feminism. However, Feminism is reflected by the struggle of the characters in survival, in placing these lives in the world of men (patriarchy), in being comfort with themselves to do what they feel comfortable for her, as well as their protest form to no longer be the object of violence for men.

Permasalahan kaum perempuan disebabkan oleh berbagai hal seperti hak dalam pengambilan keputusan, menunjukkan eksistensinya di ruang publik, hak memperoleh kesempatan bekerja, hak memperoleh pendidikan, serta masih banyak hal-hal yang membatasi ruang gerak perempuan untuk menunjukkan eksistensi dirinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan Perjuangan kesetaraan gender yang dialami oleh perempuan tergambar dalam karya sastra, Novel Alun Samudra Rasa mengangkat tentang perjuangan kesetaraan gender antara tokoh perempuan dan laki-laki. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Feminisme. Teori Feminisme digunakan untuk mengkaji bagaimana bentuk perjuangan kesetaraan gender tokoh utama perempuan dalam novel tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif analisis. Sumber data penelitain berupa novel Alun Samudra Rasa karya Ardini Pangastuti Bn. Data penelitian berupa kata, frasa, kalimat dan wacana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bentuk perjuangan kesetaraan gender yang ditemukan dalam novel yaitu peran publik dan produktif, kebebasan bagi perempuan dalam menentukan pilihan, ketegaran dalam menghadapi permasalahan hidup, dan perjuangan dalam menuntut keadilan hak-hak perempuan.(Women's problems are caused by various things such as rights in decision making, showing their existence in the public sphere, the right to get the opportunity to work, the right to education, and many things that limit women's movement to show their existence. This study aims to reveal the struggle for gender equality experienced by women illustrated in literary works, Novel Alun Samudra Rasa about the struggle for gender equality between female and male leaders. This research uses the theory of feminism. The theory of feminism is used to examine the form of the struggle for gender equality of the main female characters in the novel. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive analysis. The research data source was Alun Samudra Rasa novel by Ardini Pangastuti Bn. Research data in the form of words, phrases, sentences and discourses. The results of this study indicate that the form of gender equality struggle found in the novel is the role of public and productive, freedom for women in making choices, determination in facing life problems, and struggle in demanding justice for women's rights.)
