The Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) model, similar to other firm valuation models, uses temporal information for a firm to forecast future results. However, the lack of temporal information for many companies hinders the application of the DCF model. To overcome this limitation, we proposed an approach based on the spatial information of the analysed companies. In particular, to get firms’ valuation our approach combined both data from companies that are geographically proximal to the analysed company and data from the analysed company. Based on this approach, we provided an empirical example to demonstrate that the economic value computed with our proposal, the Spatial-Firm Economic Value, was consistent with the traditional economic value after application of the DCF model. In particular, we found a minimal difference in terms of absolute deviations between our proposal and the firm’s valuation applying traditional valuation techniques. Thus, this study demonstrated the relevance of considering the spatial dimension as an additional source of information to determine firms’ value in the Fruit subsector when there is not available temporal information to apply traditional valuation methods.

The Covid-19 pandemic put a heavy burden on member states in the European Union. To govern the pandemic, having access to reliable geo-information is key for monitoring the spatial distribution of the outbreak over time. This study aims to analyze the role of spatio-temporal information in governing the pandemic in the European Union and its member states. The European Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) system and selected national dashboards from member states were assessed to analyze which spatio-temporal information was used, how the information was visualized and whether this changed over the course of the pandemic. Initially, member states focused on their own jurisdiction by creating national dashboards to monitor the pandemic. Information between member states was not aligned. Producing reliable data and timeliness reporting was problematic, just like selecting indictors to monitor the spatial distribution and intensity of the outbreak. Over the course of the pandemic, with more knowledge about the virus and its characteristics, interventions of member states to govern the outbreak were better aligned at the European level. However, further integration and alignment of public health data, statistical data and spatio-temporal data could provide even better information for governments and actors involved in managing the outbreak, both at national and supra-national level. The Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe (INSPIRE) initiative and the NUTS system provide a framework to guide future integration and extension of existing systems.

The method adopted for pricing in an Initial Public Offering is a key issue in the studies on business valuation. In particular, various researches sought to verify which valuation methodologies are preferable in the context of an initial public offering. The review of the main literature shows that Discounted Cash Flow, Market Multiples, Dividend Discount Model and, even if just to some degree, Economic Value Added are the most popular methodologies in the valuation practice. The comparison among different valuation methods, proposed in the literature and variously applied in national and international practices, reveals the necessity to pay more attention to valuation mechanisms that drive the pricing of the shares to be listed. The topic is linked to the ever more pertinent debate on the use of different methods in professional practice: financial experts and analysts tend, in fact, to compare results according to different estimates.

Learning the spatial organization of the environment is essential for most animals’ survival. This requires the animal to derive allocentric spatial information from egocentric sensory and motor experience. The neural mechanisms underlying this transformation are mostly unknown. We addressed this problem in electric fish, which can precisely navigate in complete darkness and whose brain circuitry is relatively simple. We conducted the first neural recordings in the preglomerular complex, the thalamic region exclusively connecting the optic tectum with the spatial learning circuits in the dorsolateral pallium. While tectal topographic information was mostly eliminated in preglomerular neurons, the time-intervals between object encounters were precisely encoded. We show that this reliable temporal information, combined with a speed signal, can permit accurate estimation of the distance between encounters, a necessary component of path-integration that enables computing allocentric spatial relations. Our results suggest that similar mechanisms are involved in sequential spatial learning in all vertebrates.

The relevance of the monograph is determined, first of all, by the fact that contemporary national literatures are increasingly interacting with each other through translation, and thus the need to consider translated works in comparison with the originals is increasing. Studying the features and patterns of the literary translation is an important area of modern comparative studies. The work focuses on ways of preserving the national and cultural component of the translated text. The works of M. Gogol, Lesia Ukrainka, I. Franko, F. Dostoievskyi, R. Kipling, and J. Conrad were analyzed according to this aspect. A comparative idea of a dialogue is proposed. It is noted that translation is a broad dialogic process between the author and the reader through the interpreter, which includes reception and interpretation. Literary translation is interpreted as the basis for establishing a dialogue between the text and the interpreter, as an expression of the meaning that flows through the prism of the translating consciousness and enriches it, as a co-creation of the writer and interpreter, the purpose of which is mutual understanding, and the result of this understanding is the text-translation. Attention is paid to the issue of intertextuality as a translation problem. Despite the understanding of intertextuality as the interaction between the texts by different authors (text in text) and the interrelation between different works of one author, the thesis proposes to expand the scope of interpretation of this term, adding to it also different interpretations of one work in the same language. In the monograph the problem of reception and interpretation of literary text is considered in the imagological aspect. In particular, the study of reception and interpretation of other national character in a foreign language discourse plays an important role. Foreign language reception and interpretation of laughter culture in general and «Gogol laughter» in particular are thoroughly investigated. A deep analysis of the works of M. Gogol and F. Dostoevsky made it possible to conclude that the carnival colour of Gogol's «pure, folk-festive» laughter and the parody and comic intonation of F. Dostoevsky during translation give rise to certain problems of preserving their identity. It is noted that the perception of colour in a literary work is a peculiar way of interpreting it, and the semantic nuances of colour markings in one language or another require the problem of the reception adequacy and the interpretation of colour when translating from language to language. The practical importance of the monograph is determined by the possibility of using its basic provisions and results as an additional source of information for further comprehension of the translational paradigm in the comparative dimension.

Entikong is one of Indonesia's land border areas with Sarawak Malaysia, which is the gateway for economic and business activities. Despite being the front porch of a country, the fact is that the border areas of the State are very conditioned with lag. Limited access to public service resources and the inadequate community ability in processing natural resources including agriculture and plantations are the dominant factors influencing the lag of a border area. Bamboo is one of the abundant forest products in Entikong. The use of bamboo in the community is still limited to its use as building materials (scaffolding) and as a protective fence for plants in the gardens of the citizens. Bamboo Rope (Gigantochloa hasskarliana Kurz) species of bamboo found in the Entikong region, where elsewhere it generally makes it as a household handicraft material, but has not been used effectively in the entikong region. Community service activities aim to improve the skills of the Entikong community in processing bamboo plants as handicrafts of household goods of economic value so that it can be an additional source of income for the people on the border ===== Entikong adalah wilayah perbatasan darat Indonesia dengan Sarawak Malaysia, yang menjadi gerbang kegiatan ekonomi dan perniagaan. Meskipun menjadi beranda depan dari suatu negara, kenyataannya bahwa wilayah batas negara sangat sarat dengan ketertinggalan. Keterbatasan mengakses sumber-sumber pelayanan masyarakat dan kemampuan masyarakat yang tidak memadai dalam mengolah sumber daya alam termasuk pertanian dan perkebunan merupakan faktor yang dominan memengaruhi ketertinggalan sebuah wilayah perbatasan. Bambu adalah salah satu hasil hutan yang kelimpahannya besar di daerah Entikong. Pemanfaatan bambu dalam masyarakat masih terbatas pada penggunaannya sebagai bahan bangunan (perancah) dan sebagai pagar pelindung tanaman di kebun-kebun warga. Bambu tali (Gigantochloa hasskarliana Kurz.) adalah salah satu spesies bambu yang terdapat di wilayah Entikong. Di tempat lain umumnya menjadikannya sebagai bahan kerajinan rumah tangga, tetapi belum dimanfaatkan secara efektif di wilayah Entikong. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan warga masyarakat Entikong dalam mengolah tanaman bambu sebagai kerajinan alat-alat rumah tangga yang bernilai ekonomis sehingga dapat menjadi sumber penghasilan tambahan masyarakat di perbatasan tersebut.

Video-based person re-identification aims to match videos of pedestrians captured by non-overlapping cameras. Video provides spatial information and temporal information. However, most existing methods do not combine these two types of information well and ignore that they are of different importance in most cases. To address the above issues, we propose a two-stream network with a joint distance metric for measuring the similarity of two videos. The proposed two-stream network has several appealing properties. First, the spatial stream focuses on multiple parts of a person and outputs robust local spatial features. Second, a lightweight and effective temporal information extraction block is introduced in video-based person re-identification. In the inference stage, the distance of two videos is measured by the weighted sum of spatial distance and temporal distance. We conduct extensive experiments on four public datasets, i.e., MARS, PRID2011, iLIDS-VID and DukeMTMC-VideoReID to show that our proposed approach outperforms existing methods in video-based person re-ID.
