This study investigates management strategies for improving the functionality of tertiary education in Nigeria. One research question was asked and answered and three hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 alpha level. The sample of the study comprised 900 respondents selected through the simple random sampling technique from six tertiary institutions in Delta and Edo States of Nigeria. The questionnaire was the instrument for collection of data from the respondents. Descriptive statistics in the forms of mean and standard deviation were used to answer the only research question. The three hypotheses were tested using one way analysis of variance. The results obtained showed that improved funding, monitoring and adoption of best practice in service delivery would help to improve the functionality of tertiary education in Delta and Edo States. Staffs of University, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education did not differ significantly in their mean perception scores for any of the identified management strategy for improving the functionality of tertiary education. The study recommended that governments of Delta and Edo States should give adequate priority to tertiary education by ensuring that enough fund is allocated and disbursed to the institutions for proper management of affairs and improved functionality.

This study was carried out to determine the influence of library satisfaction on the provision of user services in the Colleges of Education libraries in Benue State. The study was guided by one objective, one research question and one hypothesis. A survey research design was adapted for the study. The population of the study comprises of all the final year students from the two Colleges of Education libraries in Benue State. The simple random sampling technique was used to draw a sample 337 respondents from the two colleges of education libraries in the area. A self-constructed questionnaire titled “Influence of Library Satisfaction on the Provision of User Services (ILSPUSQ)” was used as an instrument for data collection. Data collected for the study was analysed using mean and standard deviation to answer research question while the chi-square was used to test hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that library satisfaction has low influence on the provision of user services in Colleges of Education libraries in Benue State. The study conducted that there was a significant influence of library satisfaction on the provision of user services in Colleges of Education libraries in Benue State. Finally, it was recommended that, in order to make the users to have satisfaction from the services proffered to them, the college libraries in Benue State should provide adequate user services.

The study assessed the differences in Principals’ instructional leadership behaviours based on experiences (number of years served as Principal) in Colleges of Education (CsOE) in Ghana using the descriptive survey design. The population of the study was all Principals from the forty-two (42) CsOE in Ghana. The study sampled thirty-six (36) Principals using the simple random sampling technique. The Principal Instructional Leadership Behaviours (PILB) scale was used to collect data. Means, standard deviations and the one-way ANOVA were used to analyse the research question and to test for the hypothesis respectively. The study revealed that Principals often promote collaboration among tutors, provide support for tutors’ work, provide an induction for new tutors and promote in-service training for tutors in CsOE in Ghana. However, the findings from the study gleaned that supervision of instruction was sometimes exhibited by Principals in CsOE in Ghana. The study further found that Principals’ instructional leadership behaviours differed when they were grouped according to their experience. It was concluded that though Principals provide instructional leadership for the benefit of tutors and the general teaching and learning climate of CsOE in Ghana, their instructional supervision should be improved. The study yielded a central recommendation that Principals of CsOE need to improve upon their supervision of instruction to promote the continuous professional development of tutors.


PURPOSE: To understand consumer’s perceptions on 4 Cs of marketing (Customer solution, Customer Cost, Convenience, and Communication) and their impact on retail format choice decisions in buying jeans. This study found evidence on rarely explored research question i.e. ‘Which 4 Cs of Marketing differs among customer’s retail format choice decisions in buying jeans. DESIGN / METHODOLOGY / APPROACH: The data was collected through structured questionnaire by random mall intercept method using simple random sampling technique from 505 customers in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. A valid Discriminant model was developed to test the predictors of 4 Cs of retail attributes across two retail formats (Departmental Stores &Shopping malls). The data was analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. FINDINGS: Findings indicated that the classification accuracy in analysis, holdout and cross-validated sample is able to correctly classify the 4 Cs of marketing across the two retail formats.Out of the 4Cs of retail marketing attributes studied, ‘Convenience and Cost’ related attributes, differ significantly across the two retail formats (Departmental Store and Shopping malls), while for ‘Communication and Customer solution’ no significant impact was found on customer’s retail format choice decisions in buying jeans. RESEARCH IMPLICATIONS: Findings from this study,aid retailers, marketers and manufacturers in understanding customer paradigm shifts in buying patterns across emerging retail formats and direct them in altering 4 Cs of marketing to serve customers better, hence increasing the overall marketing efficiency. LIMITATIONS: Despite efforts taken to represent all sections, it is appropriate to conduct such studies geographical segment-wise to be more accurate, secondly retailers’ perceptions were not considered and thirdly unorganized retail was not taken in this context. ORIGINALITY / VALUE –The researcher could not come across any studies on retail marketing attributes in specific category like jeans wear retail, especially in Indian context and hence this study would add more value in understanding customer’s buying behavior across emerging retail formats.

This study investigated the leadership styles of principals in public Colleges of Education (CoEs) in Ghana based on the setting, zone and location of the colleges. The quantitative method of the cross-sectional survey design was adopted for the study. The census sampling technique was employed to obtain 38 principals for the study. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) by Bass and Avolio (2004) was adapted to collect data from the principals. Means, standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA were utilised in analysing the data. The descriptive analysis established that generally, principals of public CoEs in Ghana mostly used transformational leadership style as compared to transactional and laissez-faire leadership styles. The inferential analyses also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the leadership styles of the principals based on setting, zone and location of the colleges. Among the recommendations is that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), formerly known as the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), should consider competence when selecting and appointing principals and not the setting, zone and location of public CoEs because generally, these variables did not statistically significantly determine the leadership styles adopted by the principals.


<i>Abstract</i> .—Recreational fishing is popular worldwide. However, the potential negative impacts of this leisure activity can influence the sustainability of targeted fish stocks. Although management strategies are frequently used to control the actions of anglers, participants themselves must ultimately be confident that changes in their behavior will lead to the conservation of recreational fish stocks before regulations are followed and best practices adopted. Directly involving recreational anglers in research used to quantify the value of best practices, such as in the case of catch and release, can help reinforce the notion among anglers that best practice behaviors facilitate conservation and sustainable exploitation. Using the framework of citizen science and the principles of experiential education (immersion, involvement, ownership, and legacy), we present a case study whereby recreational anglers were directly involved in research that tested how attributes of catch-and-release fishing for bonefish <i>Albula </i> spp. can influence the postrelease survival. By accompanying anglers to the shallow flats and actively involving them in hands-on research aimed at addressing relevant behaviors in the context of catch and release, such programs can promote an increased awareness and sense of personal ownership over the research question and the conservation benefits that it intends to facilitate. With data generated through direct involvement, the participation of recreational anglers in our research culminated in the development of a best practices brochure about catch and release for bonefish. It is our experience that research programs involving recreational anglers need to be well conceived and structured so as to adequately balance the quality of the experience for the participants with the need for generating quality data. Welldesigned “research angler” programs as a form of tourism or even ecotourism could help scientists not only to enhance their ability to conduct fisheries research, but also to broaden the impacts of their research program and the speed at which best practices are adopted.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze saving and loan business management strategy in Satu Hati Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) In Naimana Village, Central Malaka Sub-District, Malaka District. Research methodology: This research used a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. This research used purposive sampling technique. Results: The results of this study found that communication and cooperation are not good enough, there are no binding rules, and recording and bookkeeping are not in accordance with the borrower's deposit. Limitations: This research only analyzes Management Strategies for Savings and Loans at Satu Hati Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in Naimana Village, Central Malaka Sub-District, Malaka Regency. The purpose of this study was to ascertain principals’ learning resources managerial practices for the implementation of entrepreneurship studies in public and private secondary school in Anambra State. One research question and one hypothesis guided the study. This study was conducted in public and private secondary school in Anambra State. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The population for this study is 16,727 respondents made up of 481 principals and 9,697 teachers from the 481 private secondary schools and 256 principals and 6,293 teachers from the 256 public secondary schools in Anambra state. The sample size for this study is 1,332 respondents drawn from public and private secondary schools in Anambra state. The multi-stage sampling technique was utilized to arrive at the sample size. The first stage involved randomly drawing three education zones out of the six education zones in Anambra state. Accordingly, Aguata, Awka, and Nnewi zones were drawn using simple random sampling technique balloting with replacement. The second stage involved the use of proportionate stratified sampling technique to draw 74 secondary schools from the three education zones, consisting of 26 public and 48 private secondary schools. Each zone was regarded as a stratum. From each stratum, 10% of principals and teachers were sampled from the public and private secondary schools in the stratum. Researcher-developed instrument was the instrument for data collection. The validity of the instrument was determined using three lecturers. The reliability of the questionnaire was determined using respondents from Enugu State

Post-graduation employment has been of great concern to students, teachers, and parents. This is because of the stiff competition in the contemporary labour market. The job preference of students informs their post-graduation expectations and interests. This study, therefore, assessed the post-school job preference of undergraduates in Nigerian public universities using the survey approach of quantitative design. The population was the six south-west states of Nigeria having 17 public universities in the zone, and comprising of 12,890 male and 13,966 female final year undergraduates of the universities. Using the simple random sampling technique, three public universities were selected. Furthermore, 1,500 final year undergraduates were selected using the criterion purposive sampling technique. The Undergraduates’ Job Preference Scale (UNJOP-S), a 20-item questionnaire, was designed and administered. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to answer the research question and hypothesis respectively. The study found that paid employment was the most preferred job of undergraduates. It equally showed a significant relationship between entrepreneurship education and measures of undergraduates’ job preference. Consequently, entrepreneurial content should be incorporated in every discipline to shape the undergraduates’ job preference towards entrepreneurial endeavours after graduation, as this will change their orientation for entrepreneurial activities and facilitate the school-to-work transition.

The study investigated the perception of undergraduate education students at Federal University Oye Ekiti, Nigeria towards teaching profession. Descriptive research design of the survey type was adopted for the study. An instrument adapted from Alkhateeb (2013) and tagged Students’ Attitude on Teaching Profession (SATPQ) was used to obtain data for the study. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample comprising of 187 undergraduate education students at100 and 200 level. One research question was raised while four research hypotheses were generated for the study. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The outcome of the study revealed that undergraduate education students at the Federal University Oye Ekiti had positive attitude towards teaching profession. The study revealed that there was no significant difference in the perception of undergraduate education students at the Federal University Oye Ekiti towards teaching profession based on gender, level of entry, age and entry qualification. Based on the findings of the study it was recommended that undergraduate education students should be provided with necessary incentive to sustain their positive perception towards teaching profession while government should formulate a policy that could change societal perception on teaching profession.

Aims: To determine gender and faculty of study as predictor of undergraduate students’ academic achievement in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Study Design:  Ex-post facto research design. Methodology: The sample for the study was 632 100 level students selected using simple random sampling technique of balloting without replacement. These students were selected from tertiary institutions sampled for the study. The data collected were pre-existing results of 100 level students on General mathematics retrieved from the respective departments sampled earlier. Data collected was analyzed using simple regression analysis.    Results: The results of this study revealed that gender of undergraduate students had R2 change of 0.004. This indicates that gender had the predictive power of 0.40 percent for undergraduates’ achievement in General Mathematics. Also, at 1df numerator, 631 df denominator and P=.05, the calculated F value 2.54 is less than the critical F value of 3.84. Therefore, gender of undergraduates in tertiary institutions is not a significant predictor of their achievements in General Mathematics. On the other hand, the results showed that undergraduate students had R2 change of 0.009. This indicates that faculty of study had the predictive power of 0.90 percent for undergraduates academic achievement in General Mathematics. Also, at 1df numerator, 631df denominator and P = .05, the calculated F value 6.78 is greater than the critical F value of 3.84. Therefore, students’ faculty of study in tertiary institutions is a significant predictor of their achievements in General Mathematics. Conclusion: Based on the analysis carried out, it was concluded that gender of undergraduates in tertiary institutions is not a significant predictor of their achievement in General Mathematics. On the contrary, students’ faculty of study in tertiary institutions was found to be a significant predictor of their achievements in General Mathematics.
