The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of long term adapted game aided physical education intervention programconducted on an individual with ASD and to conserve the achieved skills. The participant was fourteen years oldduring study and was fifteen years old when research was completed. The study took 15 months in total including 12months of implementation process and 3 months of interval before retention test conducted on the participant. TheShort Form of 2nd version of Bruininks-Oseretsky Motor Proficiency Test (BOT-2 SF) was used as a measuring set.Obtained data were evaluated graphically. According to the obtained data, we determined a development but BOT-2SF started in different periods in 8 sub-dimensions under the title of fine and gross motor skills. When permanencytest was obtained after an interval of 3 months for examined intervention program, it was clear that all skills exceptpower sub-dimension were conserved. There was a decrease in a certain amount only in power sub-dimension. In thelight of all these consequences, we can say that even though it is late, adapted intervention programs conducted onthe individuals with ASD affect motor skill levels positively and it can be said that this development will be effectivein increasing life quality of the individuals with ASD.

<p><strong>The </strong><strong>aim</strong> of the work is to establish the impact of adaptive physical education classes according to our proposed method on the motor abilities and behavior of children with autism spectrum disorders and on the quality of life of their families.</p><p><strong>Material and methods</strong>. Analysis and generalization of literature data on the peculiarities of psycho-motor development of children with autism, their behavior. Development of methods of adaptive physical education of children with autism, which includes exercises for the development of general and fine motor skills, imitation, coordination of movements and the development of physical qualities such as strength, agility, flexibility. Expert assessment of test exercises. Questionnaire of parents about the psychophysical condition of their children and the quality of life of families raising a child with autism. Methods of mathematical statistics.</p><p><strong>Results</strong>. It has been established that children with autism have significant impairments of motor activity and psychophysical condition, which significantly affects the quality of life of children and their families. There is a very low level of development of motor skills. Parents of children in the experimental group noted that from now on their children began to have fewer problems with movement, their movements became more coordinated and it became easier to move. In terms of self-care and self-care, the difficulties became less significant (average level), the usual daily activities also became easier, the phenomena of discomfort and anxiety decreased.</p><p><strong>Conclusions</strong>. Children with autism have significant deviations in motor development, arbitrariness of movements, understanding of expediency of movements, general motility of the body. Classes in adaptive physical education according to our proposed method allowed children with autism to overcome most motor disorders, which was a prerequisite for improving higher nervous activity and behavior. Significant improvement of psychophysical condition of children as a result of employment, and also growth of quality of life is established.</p>

Palm orientation reversal errors (e.g., producing the ‘bye-bye’ gesture with palm facing inward rather than outward as is customary in American culture) have been documented in the signing of deaf and hearing children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and in the imitation of gestures by signing and non-signing children with ASD. However the source of these unusual errors remains opaque. Given that children with ASD have documented difficulties with both imitation and motor skills, it is important to clarify the nature of these errors. Here we present a longitudinal case study of a single child with ASD, a hearing, signing child of Deaf parents. Samples of the child’s signing were analyzed at ages 4;11, 6;2, 10;2, and 14;11. Lexical signs and fingerspelled letters were coded for the four parameters of sign articulation (handshape, location, movement, and palm orientation). Errors decreased for handshape, location, and movement after age 4;11, but increased on palm orientation from 4;11 and remained high, exceeding 55% of signs by 14;11. Fingerspelled letters contained a large proportion of 180-degree reversals, which suggest an origin in imitation differences, as well as midline-facing errors, suggestive of a motor origin. These longitudinal data suggest that palm orientation errors could be rooted in both imitation differences and motoric difficulties.

Early childhood interventions have the potential to promote long-term healthy eating and physical activity habits to prevent obesity. However, research studies including indigenous young children are lacking. This study examined the effectiveness of the Food Friends®: Fun with New Foods™ and Get Movin’ with Mighty Moves™ (FFMM) curricula on willingness to try fruits and vegetables (FV) and gross motor (GM) skills among preschoolers in Guam. A pre-post community-based study included preschoolers from Head Start (HS), gifted and talented education (Pre-GATE), and Pre-Kindergarten programs during school years (SY) 2017–2018 and 2018–2019. In SY2017–2018, the intervention group had a significant increase in imported FV when compared with the other three groups. No significant differences between groups were found on the other FV scales. Regarding gross motor skills, no significant differences between groups were found. In SY2018–2019, the intervention group had a significant increase in all FV scales except imported FV when compared with the enhanced intervention group. With gross motor skills, no significant differences were found between groups on its progress. These results warrant FFMM adaptations for the prevention of obesity among Guam preschoolers.

This is an observational study using descriptive methods and following the guidelines of cross-sectional studies. Taking into account that the children’s needs and abilities are continuously changing, the authors proposed robot-based interventions to enhance independent living skills. Social robots as intervention and therapy agents for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders have been around for quite some time and recent technological advances have brought many changes in their potential and therefore, their popularity. In this article the authors present a panda-robot designed for children with ASD describing its physical appearance, giving information about its features and the ways it can be implemented in an intervention program that is structured in four axes. These four axes include activities that aim towards the development of social, communication, and motor skills and also focus on the implementation of relief and relaxation techniques for children with ASD. Essential guidelines and instructions, as well as certain points of attention, are also discussed.

Swimming pool activities revealed to be efficacious to train psychomotor skills and increase adaptive behaviors in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of a specific multi-systemic aquatic therapy (CI-MAT) on gross motor and social skills in three adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Methods: three adolescents with ASD of which two boys (M1 with a chronological age of 10.3 years and a mental age of 4.7 years; M2 with a chronological age of 14.6 and a mental age inferior to 4 years) and one girl (chronological age of 14.0 and a mental age inferior to 4 years). The study was divided into three phases: baseline, 12-week CI-MAT program and Post-Test. Participants were administered a battery of tests incorporating anthropometric measurements, gross motor development test and a social skills questionnaire before and after a 12-week MAT-CI program. Results: Subjects improved locomotors and object control skills following the CI-MAT program in a different way. Concerning social behaviors, the higher proportion of gains was observed in the sensitivity of other’s presence and eye contact, for the contact domain, and in the comply turn for the relationship domain. Conclusions: The results of this study showed that the CI-MAT program was effective for the development of gross-motor skills and social behaviors in subjects with ASD. Moreover there is an urge to carry out a whole psychological assessment targeting both motor and adaptive development suitable to provide educational and vocational plans of exercises for people with ASD.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a neurodevelopmental disorder, manifests as impairment in social communication an interaction with restrictive and repetitive patterns of behaviour. Yoga therapy, a mind-body intervention, employs a multi-dimensional approach to reduce psychological distress and bring balance and harmony at the levels of body, breath and mind through physical postures, breathing practices, chanting, and relaxation techniques, respectively, thus enhancing overall well-being. Various yoga studies have shown promise in improving symptoms of ASD by improvement in sensory processing, gross motor skills, balance and coordination, cognition, imitation skills, and the ability to connect in relationships. This chapter aims to provide an overview of the potential role of Yoga therapy in the management of ASDs with emphasis on future standardized yoga trials with robust methodology and long-term follow-ups to establish the clinical utility of Yoga therapy for the same. Also, a tentative yoga lifestyle module for ASD with necessary contra-indications and practical tips has been provided.

Physical education plays a role in contributing to the growth and development of the children through the learning experience to meet the needs of the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domain [1,9,8,11]. All children will go through a learning process based on Physical Education syllabus as set out in the primary school integrated Curriculum (KBSR). In the Physical Education curriculum, children have been encourage to develop fitness, skill and sportsmanship. The focus of this study is about teaching of fitness in gross motor skills which consist of the locomotors and manipulative skills. Children age seven to nine years have been involved in teaching and learning process based on these skills. Children will apply all the locomotors and manipulative skills since they are in level one primary school.
