The study aims to identify the perceptions of university students of Jordan towards the role of internet in learning and improving their understanding of Englishes and English language skills. The study followed a cross-sectional study design and a structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 181 university level students studying in different public and private sector universities. Descriptive statistics and regression analysis were used to present the findings. Results of the analysis indicated marked positive perceptions of students towards the role of internet in learning Englishes and language skills. Majority of students, considered internet as a useful tool and a learning platform that could help them in understanding and identifying the differences between British and American Englishes. Besides, most of the responses indicated an insignificant relation between students’ perceptions of World Englishes and the role of internet. Jordanian University students discovered the potential importance of internet in learning English language skills and World Englishes and, therefore, internet is considered helpful in developing their self-learning skills, self-confidence, and it also influences their learning attitude, and strengthens their linguistic skills.

This study investigated students’ perspectives about the use of smartphones in learning English language skills. It discussed the benefits and difficulties of using smartphones in the process of learning. The sample consisted of one hundred and fifty-one students enrolled in the first semester of the academic year 2019/2020 in different English courses taught at Taibah University (Badr Branch). The researcher designed a questionnaire depending on the previous studies investigated the role of smartphones in the process of teaching and learning. The participants were asked to decide at which level they agreed with each statement. The researcher analyzed data through Statistical Package for Social Sciences by applying mean scores and standard deviations. The results according to the students’ answers were positive with moderate usage of their smartphones in their attempt to learn English. Moreover, the results showed that there were no difficulties faced by students during the process of learning through smartphones.

The field of digital literacy is developing rapidly; consequently, the interest of researchers has also shifted now. The current research study was to explore the role of online learning Apps available on smartphones in improving graduate students' English language proficiency. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used in this study. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had close-ended and open-ended questions. Questionnaires were distributed among 480 graduate-level students studying in 6 universities of Punjab, Pakistan. Data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 22.0) to find out results in the form of Percentage, Mean Score, Standard Deviation by applying the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the study demonstrated the potential of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) as an anticipatory approach to improving English language skills. Results showed that students were pleased to use smartphones to improve their English language proficiency. They responded positively about the role of smartphones in improving English language skills. On the basis of findings, the researcher concluded that smartphone plays an important role in improving students' English language proficiency.

Background: Preparedness for passive intervention in form of social distancing in cultural setting of India needs to be studied. Objective: To determine the attitude of urban adults of India regarding feasibility of social distancing as a mode of prevention of Covid-19 transmission before complete lockdown in country was imposed. Methodology: A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted among adults who were literate in English language and were residing in urban areas of various regions India. Data was collected between 16th to 20thMarch, 2020 before lockdown in various districts were started and Janatacurfew (lockdown) was announced. Questionnaire included hypothetical scenarios to assess attitude of study population on social distancing. Result:There were 264 completed responses. 87.9% among all believed that social distancing will prevent them and others too. Positive attitude towards work place related social distancing was reported by 84.8%. Feasibility towards avoiding market and going to family functions (coping strategies) were showing positive attitude among 52.3% and 72.9% respectively. Giving leave to maid (active prevention) was difficult for 47.4% female respondents, 73.3% employees in public and private sector and 83.3% of age more than 60 years. Conclusion: The urban India with so much of diversities showed a promising favorable attitude towards social distancing.

This study aims at revealing the perception of the 2010, 2011 and 2012 academic year studentsof the Faculty of Letters on two supporting units at the faculty, namely Open Access Centre (OAC) and Language Laboratory (LL) in enhancing their English Language Skills. The results show that the average students consider both OAC and LL useful in developing their English Language competence. On the whole, they are satisfied with the existence of these two media except for a few things which need improving, such as facilities and instruments.
