Nowadays, in the current economy of Vietnam, logistics plays an important role in production and business activities of many enterprises, citizens and as well as the entire operation in the economy. However, logistics in Vietnam is still at a low level of development, which has not fully promoted the role of linking economic entities and activities in the national economy system. Therefore, logistics development is an urgent issue for policy makers as well as enterprises. This paper focuses on analyzing the status of logistics development in Vietnam, showing the results, limitations and causes of logistics development in Vietnam, thereby proposing some recommendations for development in the context of international economic integration.

Vietnam represents a country with 54 ethnic groups; however, the majority (88%) of the population are of Vietnamese heritage. Some of the other ethnic groups such as Tay, Thai, Muong, Hoa, Khmer, and Nung have a population of around 1 million each, while the Brau, Roman, and Odu consist only of a hundred people each. Living in northern Vietnam, close to the Chinese border (see Figure 1), the Tay people speak a language of the    Central    Tai language group called Though, T'o, Tai Tho, Ngan, Phen, Thu Lao, or Pa Di. Tay remains one of 10 ethnic languages used by 1 million speakers (Buoi, 2003). The Tày ethnic group has a rich culture of wedding songs, poems, dance, and music and celebrate various festivals. Wet rice cultivation, canal digging and grain threshing on wooden racks are part of the Tày traditions. Their villages situated near the foothills often bear the names of nearby mountains, rivers, or fields. This study discusses the status and role of the Tày language in Northeast Vietnam. It discusses factors, which have affected the habitual use of the Tay language, the connection between language shift and development and provides a model for the sustainability and promotion of minority languages. It remains fundamentally imperative to strengthen and to foster positive attitudes of the community towards the Tày language. Tày’s young people must be enlightened to the reality their Tày non-usage could render their mother tongue defunct, which means their history stands to be lost.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) construction industry has been witnessing an unprecedented growth in the last two decades. As a result, the sector is facing a major challenge of reducing the carbon footprint and thus creating major concern for the governments and the environmental agencies in the UAE. The chapter discusses the role of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) in achieving sustainability in the UAE construction industry. The various stages of GSCM applicable to the construction industry are critically assessed along with green performance measures in achieving environmental, economic and operational performance. Finally, the chapter provides a list of recommendations that could be used by practitioners and policy makers in implementing and measuring sustainability practices in the construction industry.

The important role of SMEs in the national economy, the development of the current era, namely industry 4.0, requires businesses to continue to be able to innovate, especially in technology and operations including the supply chain SMEs, so it needs encouragement from various groups including academics how to make conceptual material into policy or decisions for actors and stakeholders. The perpetrator of the SME Borondong Industry is one that must be supported because it is a traditional cultural heritage which is also a superior product in West Java so that it is expected to improve the economy. Along with the growing awareness of SMEs on technology, because it is facing the millennial era, it is an opportunity for researchers to provide conceptual treats so that they can be useful for the actors of Borondong Industry SMEs. There are a number of problems that have been borne by these bourgeois SMEs, one of which is the absence of a concept that describes the condition of the supply chain of the SME industry. The aim of this study focuses on issues regarding the Borondong SME supply chain, exploring the areas that need to be improved and assessing how the supply chain performs. The research method used is descriptive with the approach of the Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR). The findings are a general description of the supply chain in the Borondong Industry SMEs. Nepal is an agriculture country major labor force is employed, and contributes nearly thirty percent of GDP. Countries have adopted the policy of industrialization and create jobs for the economic active population. This paper discusses and tries to identify the role played by the manufacturing enterprises. Basically share in GDP, employment, value addition and gender participation. A simple average, straight line growth trend and percentiles are used for the role measurement. The source of data is mainly censuses on manufacturing enterprises conducted in Nepal since first one from1991 to last one in 2012 and Economic Survey. Analysis of the data indicates that the total number of operating establishments is declining, in the same way the total number of employees is also declining. The highest percentages of female workers are engaged as operative workers in all the CMEs. It is realized that whatever the status measured may help to the policy makers or researchers to correlate and analyze further. It is recommended the need of further information is needed on market opportunities and challenges in the past and present, investment and export potential and bottlenecks. This would be useful to entrepreneurs and policy makers alike.

This paper falls into two main parts. In Part I an attempt is made to develop a simple framework which can be used for analyzing the role of sanctions, with special reference to international sanctions.1In Part II this framework is used to investigate the status of the United Nations as a sanctioning body and, in particular, the relationship between the UN and Southern Africa where Rhodesia has been subjected to international economic sanctions since 1965 and South Africa has been under threat of similar measures since the early 1960s.2

This paper aims to investigate the impact of last mile supply chain practices on urban sustainability. An extensive review of literature has been conducted, on last mile logistics best practices, the impact of e-commerce on last miledeliveries, and the dynamics between the public authorities and private businesses, as well as the role of the final customers, the city dwel-lers. Local authorities being aware of the environmental impact of last mile deliveriesissue regulations and take initiatives towards improving the quality of life for their residents. On the other hand, businesses aim at reducing supply chain costs, improve efficiency and offer quality services to their customers. The review of practices lead into the development of a conceptual framework depicting a holistic perspective of last mile deliveries management, highlighting the dynamics between policy makers (public authorities) and the private sector. Open Science (OS) increases the quality, efficiency, and impact of science. This has been widely recognised by scholars, funders, and policy makers. However, despite the increasing availability of infrastructure supporting OS and the rise in policies and incentives to change behavior, OS practices are not yet the norm. While pioneering researchers are developing and embracing OS practices, the majority sticks to the status quo. To transition from pioneering to common practice, we need to engage a critical proportion of the academic community. In this transition, Open Science Communities (OSCs) play a key role. OSCs are bottom-up learning groups of scholars that discuss OS practices, within and across disciplines. They make OS knowledge and know-how more visible and accessible, and facilitate communication among scholars and policy makers. By the same token, community members shape the transition to OS such that it is most beneficial for researchers, science, and society. Over the past two years, eleven OSCs were founded at several Dutch university cities, with approximately 700 members in total (at the time of writing). In other countries, similar OSCs are starting up. In this paper, we discuss the pivotal role OSCs play in the large-scale transition to OS and provide practical information on how to start a local OSC. We emphasize that, despite the grassroot character of OSCs, support from universities is critical for OSCs to be viable, effective, and sustainable.

Heading towards sustainable logistic is a popular tendency. However it is widely discussed in case of supply chain, there are many studies concerning warehouse and warehousing. Introducing and developing sustainable warehouse solutions is often a challenge. In the article, the authors analysed the literature sources (scientific publications and professional studies) to indicate directions and changes in technological, managerial, social, environmental and economic aspects of warehouse functioning that are required to go forward to sustainable tendency. To summarize the studies, the application model presenting assessment of the status of sustainable warehouse is proposed. The purpose of this model is to provide policy-makers insights to identify actual state of warehouse in a company and perspectives of its development.
