This study aims to analyze and compare school subjects to determine the extent to which critical thinking skills are being engaged in school subjects’ questions and activities in public education. Five Arab countries are included in this paper; Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Arab Republic of Egypt, and The Tunisian Republic, in elementary school levels (first, second, and third grades.)The study found that all Arab countries focus on operating inductive reasoning skills in their subjects, followed by reasoning and observation, sequentially, while dismissing credibility and assumptions skills. Saudi Arabia focused on developing critical thinking skills in science textbooks for the past three academic years, while Kuwait had the same focus on their Arabic language classes. Both the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Egypt have paid a measurable attention to engaging critical thinking skills in Mathematics and the Arabic language, as well as Tunisia in their science textbooks. The least effective subjects in operating critical thinking skills were the Arabic language in Saudi Arabia, science in Kuwait, Domestic Economics in Egypt, and Islamic education in Jordan and Tunisia.

The Effectiveness of the Use of Flipbook Science Media Based on Contextual to Improve Critical Thinking Ability of StudentsThis study aims at determining the effect of flipbook science media base on contextual to enhance critical thinking skills for students of class V in elementary schools. This research is quantitative research by using the experimental method. The experiment design used is a true-experiment design in the form of a post-test-only control group design. The sample of this study is a V-1 class of Mangkubumen Lor state elementary school with as many as 26 students as the experiment class, while the control class was VA class of the Cemara Dua state elementary school as many as 26 students. The selection of the three elementary school samples was done by purposive sampling. The instrument used is a form of test items at determining students' critical thinking skills compiled based on the integration between indicators of critical thinking skills with the domain of cognitive abilities in Bloom's taxonomy that had been tested for validity and reliability of the items. The results of this study indicate that the average value of students learning outcome using flipbook science media base on contextual (88.12) is higher than the average value of students learning outcome using natural science textbooks (75.31). The results of the independent sample t-test obtained a significance of 0.000 <0.05, meaning that H0 is rejected, indicating that there is a value of students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class using flipbook science media base on contextual with the control class using science textbooks media or science packages. Scores the value of the critical thinking ability of students using flipbook science media base on contextual is higher than the value of the critical thinking ability of students only using the science textbooks media. However, the use of flipbook science media base on contextual really requires adequate school infrastructure or facilities.

This study aimed at investigating the relationship between critical thinking with emotional intelligence and creativity among elementary school principals in Bojnord. The research method was descriptive. Simple random sampling method was used and the sample included 47 public elementary school principals in Bojnoord. Critical thinking skills were measured in five subgroups by California Critical Thinking Skills Test (CCTST), emotional intelligence was measured by Shering's emotional intelligence questionnaire and creativity was measured by using Rand Sip creativity questionnaire. Data was analyzed by SPSS software and descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and t-test. The results indicated that there is a positive significant correlation between critical thinking and emotional intelligence among principals (r=385%, p=0.008%) suggesting that by increasing every dimensions of evaluation, inference, inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning, emotional intelligence increases too. It was also found that among five subscales of critical thinking, only analysis didn't have a significant correlation with emotional intelligence. The findings also indicated that there was a significant positive correlation between critical thinking and creativity among principals (p=%47, r=%294) suggesting that by increasing every dimensions of analysis, evaluation, inference, inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning, creativity increases too.

This study aims to describe the impact of online mentoring activities in implementing the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) learning model on the competence of elementary school teachers in training students’ critical thinking skills. The method was a pre-experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 25 elementary school teachers in Indonesia. The teachers received online mentoring in implementing RADEC learning model. The research instrument was a questionnaire to measure teachers’ knowledge and skills in training critical thinking. The data processing technique was carried out by calculating the mean and the percentage of each item to obtain a description of the teachers’ knowledge and skills in training students’ critical thinking before and after treatment. The data were analyzed inferentially with a paired sample t-test using SPSS version 22 software to see the impact of the treatment on teachers’ competence in training critical thinking. Based on the results of the paired-sample t-test, for both the knowledge and skills aspects, the probability value (sig) was 0.00 <0.05. This result means that there was a significant difference in the knowledge and skills of teachers in training students’ critical thinking skills before and after mentoring activities. The study results indicate that the online mentoring in implementing the RADEC learning model improved teachers’ competence in training elementary school students’ critical thinking skills.
