In today’s dynamic business environment, change is omnipresent. Organizations have to develop sound change management strategies in order to counter the same. Transition to knowledge-based economies made establishment of effective knowledge management (KM) mechanisms within companies crucial to achieve business competitiveness. This chapter addresses background concepts, critical issues, and future trends related to the blueprinting of CKM as a knowledge-based strategy for anticipating and meeting customers’ needs profitably. Crafting CKM requires a set of activities, i.e. plan, design, build, and implement, which seek to create or leverage the firm’s distinctive core competencies (DCCs) in order to attain a sustainable competitive advantage (SCA). This chapter advocates the premise that successful businesses are those that have both vision and commitment to make that vision a reality. The vision might be customer-oriented, e.g. the strategy is CKM, the processes include CKM value chain primary activities (capture data from customers, create profiles of customers, compose knowledge about customers, maximize value for customers, measure return on relationships with customers, and master the learning throughout CKM change), and CKM value chain support activities: reorganizing people, reconfiguring processes, and retooling Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).

In the modern business environment risk management has become a key assistant to enterprise management. Considering that, supply chain management, as part of enterprise management, cannot ignore the risks and the need for implementation of an adequate risk management strategy. Supply chain, as well as inter-organizational network, is the source of competitive advantage. However, inadequate risk management within a supply chain can lead to interruptions of the chain and to the lack of results at the level of the whole supply chain, as well as at the level of individual partners. Upstream supply chain represents the part of supply chain from suppliers to producer. The objective of this paper is to analyse how and to what extent the structure and the number of partners in this part of the supply chain influence (increase or decrease) supply chain vulnerability. The authors analyse the factors which most commonly affect to upstream supply chain and threaten its functioning. By analysing the supply chains from different area, the authors suggest that the size of the supplier's base can be treated as the resistance factor, but also as a factor of vulnerability.

Annotation. Introduction. Corporate culture plays an important role in business environment. As the activities of the staff, their attitude towards each other influences the activity of the enterprise, managers should pay attention and introduce a corporate culture in order to increase company’s efficiency. The phrase “corporate culture” firstly was used in the nineteenth century in military terminology by a German field marshal Moltke for relevant relationships in the official environment. There are many definitions of the concept of “corporate culture”, but there is a certain difference in the interpretation of the concept with the change of years and the depth of its research. Purpose. Modern business conditions require the introduction of corporate culture, so the leaders of domestic enterprises are increasingly seeking to apply foreign experience without exploring the differences between the Ukrainian market and foreign. Therefore, the purpose of the research is to study the role of corporate culture in domestic enterprises, as well as to identify the features of the formation of corporate culture in Ukrainian enterprises. Results. As a result of the research, we were found that corporate culture as a tool of personnel management is used in only 55% of domestic enterprises. In our opinion, it is necessary to promote the introduction of corporate culture in domestic enterprises, taking into account the national mentality and social values, and for this it is necessary to develop clear tools of corporate culture, basic principles and principles, and algorithms for their implementation in enterprises. These issues need detailed consideration and will be considered by us in further research. Conclusions. Summing up everything we can say that corporate culture is not only an instrument for managing the workforce of an organization. It forms an enterprise from the inside, influencing its image and profits. The presence of corporate culture in enterprises is a competitive advantage among others in the industry. Keywords: corporate culture; competitive advantage; personnel management; labor resources; enterprise efficiency.

To succeed in todays competitive business environment, corporations need to undertake value chain analysis and select an optimal mix of value chain activities. Based on the data collected from 73 small- to medium-sized companies, this study provides evidence regarding current practices in value chain cost tracing and cost system obsolescence. The research findings indicate that companies do a better job of linking value chain costs to products/product lines than to customers/customer classes. Overall, however, the proportion of each value chain cost attributed to either cost object tends to be low. This indicates that firms management may be rather slow in adopting new management tools. Furthermore, most companies are still using value-based cost allocations, which suggests cost system obsolescence. Implications of this study and future research directions are also discussed.
