Environmental Management Initiatives (EMI), as part of the sustainability management movement, have become an integrated part of the organisational management practices and of the current research. Since the implementation of Environmental Management System (EMS), there have been many studies analysing this relationship with the environmental performance. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) also gained a great importance for the organisations’ performance, including their performance in the environmental area. However, previous studies analysed the direct link between those variables and environmental performance, while the mediating effect of those variables has not been tested yet because using a mediator in the relationship between two variables is a rather new approach in the research area used in the behavioural sciences area. This research analyses the role of EMI in defining the Environmental Performance (EP) of hotel industry, given the strong relationship between those two variables and the importance of the tourism sector for the economic development, both in the developed, but especially in the developing countries. It also investigates the CSR authenticity as mediator between EMI and EP link. Data was collected through a questionnaire of managers of the hotels in Pakistan. Correlation, Structural Equation Model and linear regressions were applied for testing the hypotheses and for checking the viability of the model. Findings revealed that EMI and CSR authenticity are important and significant determinants of EP in the hotel industry. Findings show that CSR authenticity acts as a mediator for the EMI and EP link. The stakeholder pressures and customers’ environmental awareness have forced the hotel industry to implement environmental standards and this shift of focus is more important in the hotel industry. The current research demonstrates that efforts of EMI is a prerequisite for enhancing CSR authenticity in the environmental area, and this, in its turn, contributes to the increase of the EP of hotel and tourism sector in a developing country. Given the lack of large financial resources of the developing countries, this model is an important outcome for the tourism industry that helps hotels to become green, to attract more clients and to gain competitive advantages.

Sustainability describes a means to satisfy the needs of today’s generation without causing suffering to the needs and standards of living of future generations. The concept of sustainability consists of three pillars: economic, environmental, and social. The purpose of this study is to find a link between Corporate Social Responsibility and the Environmental Management System and its impact on the economic results of the researched companies. Many companies expect to increase their profits through Corporate Social Responsibility behavior and Environmental Management System certification. Based on an analysis of data collected from 200 of the largest firms operating in various industries in the Slovak Republic, we observed the implications of these two management tools and their impacts on the economic results of these companies. To verify individual hypotheses, we use well-established methods, specifically the Pearson Chi-square test, the Mann-Whitney U test, and the Kruskal-Wallis test, along with the Statistica software. The results suggest a relationship between the incorporation of these two management tools and that incorporation of the Corporate Social Responsibility has an impact on company profit. This work contributes to the literature on sustainability, corporate social behavior, and environmental certification in firms operating in various sectors of the national economy.

Over the years, the idea of corporate social responsibility has attracted the interest both of practitioners and researchers. While a discourse has occurred in the context of the meaning of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), there is no extensive analysis of the latest contributions. To address this gap, three objectives have been formulated for the purpose of this paper: to analyse development trends in CSR definitions, to assess the applicability of scientific efforts in the above-mentioned area and to demonstrate future research opportunities and threats based on the state-of-the-art in CSR. An organized literature review and bibliometric methods have been proposed based on 55 articles published in the “Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management Journal”, the top ranked periodical with the highest Impact Factor, from its beginnings to January 2021. This research provides a clear overview of the recent CSR trends that are present in the literature, by pinpointing those works that refer to significant characteristics and indicate future trajectories of CSR in a managerial practical context, particularly important for the effectiveness of future CSR-oriented organizational activities. This paper summarises the existing CSR-related knowledge and constitutes the first attempt to investigate the process of the creation and development of the corporate social responsibility concept from its origins to its contemporary multidimensionality.

The population of this study was all basic industrial and chemical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2014-2016. Sampling method used in this research is purposive sampling method so that obtained samples based on the criteria as many as 60 research samples. Type of data used is secondary data. Data analysis used descriptive statistic, Classical Assumption Test, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, Goodness of Fit Test, Coefficient of Determination Analysis (R²) and Hypothesis Testing (t test). The results of 5 hypothesis, 4 hypothesis accepted and 1 hypothesis rejected. Variable Environmental Management System, Environmental Performance and Size have positive and significant and Leverage have negative and significant impact to carbon emission disclosure. While profitability have positive but not significant impact in basic industrial and chemical companies in Indonesia. Based on Adjusted R Square is seen that the value of coefficient of determination is 0.663, it means that the Greenhouse Gas Emission Disclosure can be explained by independent variable equal to 66,3% and 33,7% explained by other variable.

A system of types of organizational profile is proposed in assessing the balance of corporate social responsibility management system, which takes into account the assessment of retrospective indicators, assessing the current state of corporate social responsibility and assessing the prospects of corporate social responsibility. The criteria for assessing the accumulated organizational experience in the field of corporate social responsibility and social investment, the criteria for assessing the current state of the corporate social responsibility system, the criteria for assessing the prospects for the development of the corporate social responsibility system are studied. The scheme of determining the type of organizational profile in assessing the balance of the corporate social responsibility system of the company and the system of four types: dynamic, indicates the company’s intention to make the area of corporate social responsibility a strategic factor of competitiveness; a balanced type of profile, which at a relatively high level of individual assessments speaks of a balanced social policy and successful practice of social investment; regressive profile, which signals to management that in the future the company may lose the benefits of sustainable development related to the social sphere and special attention should be paid to investment policy, risk assessment of social investment and balanced development of intellectual and social capital and the inertial profile reflects the complete absence of any CSR planning in the company.
