The number of human deaths caused by malaria is increasing day-by-day. In fact, the mitochondrial proteins of the malaria parasite play vital roles in the organism. For developing effective drugs and vaccines against infection, it is necessary to accurately identify mitochondrial proteins of the malaria parasite. Although precise details for the mitochondrial proteins can be provided by biochemical experiments, they are expensive and time-consuming. In this review, we summarized the machine learning-based methods for mitochondrial proteins identification in the malaria parasite and compared the construction strategies of these computational methods. Finally, we also discussed the future development of mitochondrial proteins recognition with algorithms.

Abstract El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) retrospective ensemble-based probabilistic predictions were performed for the period of 1856–2003 using the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, version 5 (LDEO5), model. To obtain more reliable and skillful ENSO probabilistic predictions, first, four ensemble construction strategies were investigated: (i) the optimal initial perturbation with singular vector of sea surface temperature anomaly (SSTA), (ii) the realistic high-frequency anomalous winds, (iii) the stochastic optimal pattern of anomalous winds, and (iv) a combination of the first and the third strategy. Second, verifications were conducted to examine the reliability and resolution of the probabilistic forecasts provided by the four methods. Results suggest that reliability of ENSO probabilistic forecast is more sensitive to the choice of ensemble construction strategy than the resolution, and a reliable and skillful ENSO probabilistic prediction system may not necessarily have the best deterministic prediction skills. Among these ensemble construction methods, the fourth strategy produces the most reliable and skillful ENSO probabilistic prediction, benefiting from the joint contributions of the stochastic optimal winds and the singular vector of SSTA. In particular, the stochastic optimal winds play an important role in improving the ENSO probabilistic predictability for the LDEO5 model.

Postmodern architecture is responsible for carrying out the building distributions of the urban canyon of cities; For this, it provides the tools required to adjust the territory to social, economic, and environmental needs. One of these tools is aimed at the applicability of construction strategies such as the correct solar orientation. The present investigation of an experimental nature, carried out in the Crucita parish of Ecuador, evaluates the thermal temperatures inside two houses in their current state, assessing it in two prototypes with one water and two waters on the four cardinal orientations: with four different angles of inclination of the cover. Where it was determined that the thermal comfort inside that provides the least increase in temperature is for the house with a roof facing west, with an angle of inclination greater than 20°.

Social interaction is critical to the physical and intellectual well-being of a functioning democracy. The excessive influence of technology and lack of urban design and planning’s attention to pedestrian experience has caused our interactions to become more private, isolated, and mostly virtual. The following project presents the product of a design-build studio which uses adaptive/Kinetic systems to generate a creative solution to this social problem. Specifically, it will showcase the efforts of students working on a Parklet project, repurposing urban space to advance local business ethics and social justice issues. The Parklet replaces a parking space, fostering increases in social connections, public vibrancy, and support for local businesses. To move beyond schematic design, and offer students an experiment in real-world design issues, this studio provided a hands-on atmosphere for collaborative and consensus design experience, learning-by-doing, detailing challenges, and offsite construction strategies. It was structured to promote lessons in collaboration, construction detailing and process, and adaptive design, including working with city officials to meet code and zoning regulations. Since the project’s site is located in a neighboring city, students prefabricated the pieces in school and shipped and assembled them on site in one day. The studio sought to promote CAAD education, teaching design, and construction, but also innovation and entrepreneurship, through computational technology. The pedagogical framework was defined around various considerations such as structural, functional, financial, aesthetical, technological, and collaboration with other disciplines such as structural engineering and construction management

Ecological small towns can attract a large number of rural surplus labors and ease the population pressure, how to carry out the planning and construction ecological town becomes a hotspot of research. Based on this, planning and construction of ecological small towns absorbing surplus rural labor based on fuzzy evaluation method were proposed. First of all, planning and construction of small towns under the concept of ecology were elaborated; and then the planning and construction strategies of small towns integrating ecological concepts were put forward, including the utilization of water resources, ecological the landscape and transportation planning; at the same time, a project for ecological small town in Hebei Province was taken as an example for the planning and design; in addition, the planning objectives and layout planning were analyzed and evaluated by fuzzy evaluation method, and the results confirmed the success of planning and design.

First, this chapter analyzes the theoretical research on the effects of Scholarly Learning Commons (SLC) in China from the perspectives of concept, instance analysis, and ideas for construction. The results can be summarized in the following three stages of SLC development in China: preliminarily integrated stage, double fusion stage, and highly integrated stage. With this structure and the concept of being “user-centered,” this chapter concludes that Chinese academic libraries mainly adopt two methods of building an SLC: independent construction by libraries, and joint construction with other units of the university. Finally, this chapter demonstrates construction strategies, elements, and service in SLCs, and it shows five typical cases of SLC construction in Chinese academic libraries.
