Cytokeratins are keratinous protein and assist cells to reduce mechanical stress on the intracytoplasmic layer of epithelial tissue. There are several unspecified mutations in the epithelial layer that may induces by environmental mutagens and pathogens. The unspecified mutations in the epithelium surface also disrupt biology of skin at multiple different levels and cause innate keratinizing disorders. These serve as a root generator of neurohormones and neuropeptides which mainly partake in the disruption. Generally, all 54 unique genes of human keratin partake in mutations and cause cutaneous tissue fragility, skin hypertrophic, and malignant transformation. In this chapter, unspecific factors that involved in the pathogenesis of skin diseases and the ways by which such keratin changes might harness to alleviate different skin conditions are also included. Consequently, the contribution of environmental changes in the frontier of mutations or misregulations of the cytokeratin genes, is also cited here.

Abstract. A broad range of literature reported higher rates of psychopathology and personality disorders among patients affected by skin conditions. Specifically, depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideations are more frequently reported by patients affected by skin diseases. This study aimed to examine psychopathology and personality in a group of patients affected by psoriasis by means of a self-report measure (Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory – MCMI-III) and a performance-based technique (Wartegg Drawing Completion Test [WDCT], CWS). Study results showed a higher rate of passive-aggressiveness and paranoia among psoriatic patients (MCMI-III). When assessing patients through the performance-based technique (WDCT, CWS), a higher rate of global rejection (GR) – linked by previous literature to suicidal ideation – and a lower affective quality of the drawings emerged. We discuss the clinical importance of detecting psychological issues in dermatology patients by means of a multimethod assessment that goes beyond patients’ self-evaluation of their symptoms and emotions.

Skin is a protective organ and the largest of the human body. Due to its pivotal role in aesthetic appearance, skin health has a significant impact on quality of life. Chronic inflammation of the skin often marks the beginning of various skin diseases. Immune-mediated responses serve to protect the body from external insults and require succinct control, and can lead to ongoing cellular damage and various skin conditions if left unchecked. Studies have shown that phytochemicals can alter processes involved in skin inflammation and alleviate the effects of aging, cancer, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and vitiligo. Direct molecular targets of some phytochemicals have been identified and their precise mechanisms of action investigated. In this review, we summarize recent findings on the effects of phytochemicals on skin inflammation and the mechanisms of action involved.

abstract Acetyl hexapeptide-3 has been used in anti-aging topical formulations aimed at improving skin appearance. However, few basic studies address its effects on epidermis and dermis, when vehiculated in topical formulations. Thus, the objective of this study was to determine the clinical efficacy of acetyl hexapeptide-3 using biophysical techniques. For this purpose, formulations with and without acetyl hexapeptide-3 were applied to the ventral forearm and the face area of forty female volunteers. Skin conditions were evaluated after 2 and 4-week long daily applications, by analyzing the stratum corneum water content and the skin mechanical properties, using three instruments, the Corneometer(r) CM 825, CutometerSEM 575 and ReviscometerRV600. All formulations tested increased the stratum corneum water content in the face region, which remained constant until the end of the study. In contrast, only formulations containing acetyl hexapeptide-3 exhibit a significant effect on mechanical properties, by decreasing the anisotropy of the face skin. No significant effects were observed in viscoelasticity parameters. In conclusion, the effects of acetyl hexapeptide-3 on the anisotropy of face skin characterize the compound as an effective ingredient for improving conditions of the cutaneous tissue, when used in anti-aging cosmetic formulations.

This study examines a firm’s response to perceived changes in the environment, such as the growth of the digital era, at different levels of a firm—beginning with the adoption of corporate entrepreneurship (CE) down to process renewal (PR). We further explore if the technological intensity of a firm, high-tech or low-tech intensity, influences its choice of mode for organisational renewal (OR)—use of internal competence or outside acquisition—to exploit the opportunities created by the digital era. Using survey data from 170 firms, we test a sequential relationship among environmental changes (growth of the digital era), CE, OR and finally PR that involves operating procedures at the functional level. We conclude by identifying the study’s interdisciplinary contributions, which open new research avenues in the field of CE.

Background : Gastric ulcer is wound to the mucosal layer (epithelial layer) of the stomach and mucosal irritation of 5 mm or more in diameter with depth down to submucosa. The basic pathogenesis of gastric ulcers in when there is an imbalance of aggressive factor enhancement. Non-steroidal antiinflammantory drug can cause stomach ulcers in two ways, either directly or topical irritation of the epithelial tissue and inhibit the endogeneous system of gastrointestinal mucosa of prostaglandins. In this case inhibition of prostaglandin systhesis is the dominant factor of peptic ulcers by NSAIDs. Objectives : The purpose of this study was to determine the effct of NSAID drug administration on the formation of peptic ulcers and to know the difference in the rate of formation of peptic ulcers from each class. Method : Sampel method mice performed surgery on the stomach is done in Pharmacology Laboratory of Pharmacy Institute Deli Husada Deli Tua. Results : The results of this study indicate that faster drugs cause gastric ulcers with a degree of redness are Aspirin 4.03 mm, 2.01 mm mefenamat and 1.02 mm Diclofenac Sodium while Ibuprofen mwdication does not cause peptic ulcers. Conclusion : The results of this study it can be concluded that Aspirin administration with doses of 21 mg/kg faster causes gastric ulcers from other NSAID groups such as Mefenamat with a dose of 21 mg/kg BW, Diclofenac sodium at a dose of 2 mg/kg while administration, Ibuprofen for ten days does not couse ulcers in the stomach of experimetal animals.

Definitions and clinical images are used in this short chapter to permit differentiation between crusts, scabs, and eschars and their likely causes. These are listed as skin infections, trauma, or skin conditions such as eczema or blistering disorders. There are brief descriptions with appropriate treatment and there is cross-referencing to other chapters. Short summaries of diseases causing eschars are provided. These include bacterial infections (e.g. ecthyma, anthrax), viral infections (e.g. cowpox, orf), fungal (e.g. Tinea capitis), and protozoal (e.g. Leishmaniasis) conditions. Also included are skin diseases such as pityriasis lichenoides, toxins/allergens (from various bites and stings), and systemic disease such as autoimmune vasculitis, haematological disorders, or tumours.

This chapter describes the most common and urgent skin issues facing palliative-medicine providers working in conflict zones, epidemics, and natural disasters. The first section focuses on exposure-related skin conditions, including burns, firearm injuries, frostbite, and snake bites. The second section describes lethal bacteria commonly found in floodwaters. The third section explores common skin conditions facing terminally and severely ill patients in crisis areas. The fourth section explains noninfectious yet potentially life-threatening skin diseases in these settings. The final section describes the opportunistic infections which could target patients with HIV anywhere.
