The paper considers teaching contents in comparative systems of primary and secondary education, which are important for the development of security culture of young people and based on the expanded security agenda and new educational needs in that context. Methodologically, the paper is based on a review of the existing literature and the analysis of certain strategic documents in the field of education and security. Special focus was placed on the practice in the Republic of Serbia and previous activities in this field. The initial aim was to gain insight into certain foreign experiences and experiences of the Republic of Serbia, regarding the representation of security contents in primary and secondary education, and - on the basis of this - to try to consider the development of security culture in the educational context. It was found that among the analyzed countries Poland, Slovenia and Russia have a special subject dedicated to security topics within their education systems and it is noticeable that there is such an effort in other countries, but for now, security contents are mostly implemented in the existing subjects. Regarding the Republic of Serbia, it is concluded, that the potential introduction of a special subject dedicated to security topics in secondary schools and the enrichment of existing subjects with the security content in primary schools, may result in the improvement of general security of the youth.

Rakstā atspoguļotas Latvijas Republikas Satversmes tiesas nolēmumos ietvertās atziņas par Latvijas Republikas Satversmes regulējumu un tā interpretāciju valsts drošības jautājumos. Īpaša uzmanība veltīta tiesu prakses analīzei, aplūkojot metodoloģiju, kas palīdz panākt līdzsvaru starp nepieciešamību novērst valsts drošības apdraudējumus un nepieciešamību aizsargāt pamattiesības. The article provides an insight into the findings by the Constitutional Court regarding the regulation established by the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia and the interpretation thereof on issues of “national security”. Special focus is placed upon the analysis of the Case Law which reflects the methodology for reaching balance between threat to national security and the necessity to protect human rights.

The curricula of the new Ukrainian school for grades 1-4, grades 5-6, physics programs for grades 7-11 and the content classification between subjects are analyzed. Appropriate methodological improvements are proposed to close the gap between primary and secondary education, in the context of studying certain physical concepts, by improving the adaptation of students in the transition from primary to primary school, in particular, in the transition from certain issues of mathematics, science and others to physics, where the implementation of subject competence. In view of this, it is suggested that primary and secondary school teachers, when studying the components of the content of the school course of physics, follow the generalized plans for their study, as in the school course of physics.

This chapter draws on a mixed methods longitudinal study of a cohort of young adults in Ireland who were followed from their entry to secondary education to their outcomes three to four years after completing upper secondary education. In keeping with previous international research, the study findings show that the main pathways taken by young people reflect their gender, social class background, and academic performance. However, the analyses go further than previous work by indicating the way in which the nature of postschool transitions are firmly embedded in earlier school experiences. In particular, the chapter contributes to the ongoing debate on the effects of school composition to show that school social mix has a very significant impact on postschool outcomes, with those who attended middle-class schools having particularly high levels of participation in higher education. This is consistent with higher education assuming a ‘taken for granted’ quality in middle-class schools. In contrast, young people who had attended working-class schools are much more likely than those in middle-class or socially mixed schools to enter the labor market directly upon leaving school, even taking account of their exam grades. School climate plays an important role, with negative relations with teachers serving to discourage young people from remaining on in any form of education/training. The chapter concludes by highlighting the implications of the findings for our understanding of youth transitions and for policy designed to improve equity of outcomes.

The study represents an analysis of the pandemic impact on working conditions of teachers employed in general primary and secondary education institutions in the Republic of Moldova. The analysis is based on an opinion poll carried out among the didactic staff and relates the working conditions during the pandemic to the provisions stipulated in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, as well as those in the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. The poll results denote the fact that the working conditions of the didactic staff have changed for the worse during the pandemic, having aggravated some chronic problems of Moldovan education, whereas exercising labour rights in conformity with international and constitutional engagements implies rationalization of work and providing necessary remuneration for a decent life.
