When repairing the internal combustion Diesel engine, a set of spare parts was installed: crankshaft-flywheel. After the overhauol, the engine was tested on a test bench. After a very short time of operation, an engine failure occurred. Re-overhaul was started, with another set of spare parts: crankshaft-flywheel. After a short time of operation, there were recurrences of engine failures, according to the same mechanisms of occurrence.

Due to the significant weakening of the maintenance Department ICC (aging equipment, the care of qualified personnel), a rise in the price of spare parts and TCM is becoming more important to increase the maintenance of equipment and control her condition organoleptic methods by the owners of the machines. Here, the age-old practice has accumulated a wealth of experience. Therefore, novice diagnosticians used all available devices, and experienced ones made do with a minimum. The article presents their experience in identifying diesel engine failures, preventing their intensive wear and failure.

AbstractHybridization of the drive train in commercial vehicles is a key solution toward meeting the strict future requirements to reduce carbon dioxide emissions within the European Union. In order to decrease fleet consumption a large number of different hybrid systems are already available in series in the passenger car sector. Due to the cheap and powerful 48 volt hybrid components and the lower hazard potential compared to high voltage, future commercial vehicles could also benefit from the 48V technology and contribute to lower fleet fuel consumption. Therefore, a complete 48V mild hybrid system was built on the diesel engine test bench as part of a research project. This paper highlights the utilization of a powerful 48V-motor to propel the coolant pump on a diesel engine of the 13-L commercial vehicle class. Three different drive variants of the coolant pump were implemented and measured on the diesel engine test bench. MATLAB®/Simulink®-simulations were conducted to assess the possible fuel savings in three different driving cycles. This paper provides a summary and interpretation of the measurement and simulation results. The simulation studies predict a decrease of fuel consumption of up to 0.94%. Furthermore, the additional advantages of electrified coolant pumps based on 48V are discussed.

This paper deals with the study of diesel engine friction and wear. The friction and wear mechanism of diesel engine was studied and the wear factors of diesel engine friction and wear was analyzed. According to the diesel engine test bench, diesel engine experimental scheme of oil testing was designed during running-in stage. Studies have shown that wear particle morphology of diesel engine from ferrographic analysis can reflect the degree of wear and wear mechanism during running-in stage, wear particle changed during running-in stage. Ferrographic monitoring is an effective method for diesel engine friction and wear monitoring.

In order to obtain the foundation to the research on the Diesel Engine YN4100QB combustion process, exhaust, the optimal design of combustion chamber and the useful information for the design of exhaust muffler, the geometric model and mesh model of a type internal combustion engine are constructed by using FIRE software to analyze the working process of internal combustion engine. Exhaust noise is the main component of automobile noise in the study of controlling vehicle noise. It is primary to design a type of muffler which is good for agricultural automobile engine matching and noise reduction effect. The present car mufflers are all development means. So it is bound to cause the long cycle of product development and waste of resources. Even sometimes not only can it not reach the purpose of reducing the noise but also it leads to reduce the engine dynamic. The strength of the exhaust noise is closely related to engine combustion temperature and pressure. The calculation and initial parameters are applied to the software based on the combustion model and theory. According to the specific operation process of internal combustion engine. Five kinds of common operation condition was compiled. It is obtained for the detailed distribution parameters of combusted gas temperature pressure . It is also got for flow velocity of the fields in cylinder and given for the relation of the parameters and crankshaft angle for the further research. At the same time NOx emissions situation are got. The numerical results show that not only does it provide the 3D distribution data in different crank shaft angle inside the cylinder in the simulation of combustion process, but also it provides a basis for the engine combustion ,emission research, the optimization design of the combustion chamber and the useful information for the designs of muffler.

This paper studied misfire diagnosis of diesel engine based on short-time vibration characters. Misfire of diesel engine was simulated by the vibration monitoring test. Cylinder vibration signal and top center signal were collected under different states. The short-time vibration signal of each cylinder was intercepted according to the diesel combustion sequence, effective value was calculated, and BP Neural Network model built with this character was used to diagnose diesel misfire. The result shows that this method can locate the misfire cylinder effectively, and it is meaningful for guiding the detection and repair of vehicles.

It is vitally important for vehicle users that are to study the operating regime that may negative effect to the operation of the engine, to reduce its effect, to maintain the engine's reliability in accordance with the specific operating conditions. Quality of lubrication is one of the main factors that are improving of reliability and operational efficiency for any machinery their spare parts. So this paper presents to optimize of oil change intervals and to determine of wear rating of spare parts by content of metal particles in the internal combustion engine used oil. Automotive manufacturers nowadays are constantly working on improving their internal combustion engines’ performance by reducing the fuel consumption and emissions, without compromising the power generated. Manufacturers are therefore relying on virtual engine models that can be run on simulation software in order to reduce the amount of time and costs needed, in comparison with experiments done on engine test benches. One important element of the intake system of an internal combustion engine is the throttle valve, which defines the amount of air reaching the plenum before being drawn into the cylinders. This article discusses a widely used model for the estimation of air flow rate through the throttle valve in an internal combustion engine simulation. Experiments have been conducted on an isolated throttle valve test bench in order to understand the influence of different factors on the model’s discharge coefficient. These experiments showed that the discharge coefficient varies with the pressure ratio across the throttle valve and with its angle. Furthermore, for each angle, this variation can be approximated with a linear model composed of two parameters: the slope and the Y-Intercept. These parameters are calibrated for different throttle valve angles. This calibration can be done using automotive manufacturers’ standard engine test fields that are often available. This model is then introduced into an engine simulation model, and the results are compared to the experimental data of a turbocharged engine test bench for validation. They are also compared with a standard discharge coefficient model that varies only with the throttle valve angle. The results show that the new model for the discharge coefficient reduces mass flow estimation errors and allows expanding the applications of the throttle valve isentropic nozzle model.

Due to increasing climate awareness and the introduction of much stricter exhaust emission legislation the internal combustion engine technology faces major challenges. Although the development and state of technology of internal combustion engines generally reached a very high level over the last years those need to be improved even more. Combining water injection with a diesel engine, therefore, seems to be the next logical step in developing a highly efficient drive train for future mobility. To investigate these potentials, a comprehensive evaluation of water injection on the diesel engine was carried out. This study covers >560 individual operating points on the test bench. The tests were carried out on a single-cylinder derived from a Euro 6d four-cylinder passenger car with the port water injection. Furthermore, a detailed pressure trace analysis (PTA) was performed to evaluate various aspects regarding combustion, emission, etc. The results show no significant effects of water injection on the combustion process, but great potential for NOx reduction. It has been shown that with the use of water injection at water-to-fuel rates of 25%, 50%, and 100%, NOx reduction without deterioration of soot levels can be achieved in 62%, 40%, and 20% of the experiments, respectively. Furthermore, water injection in combination with EGR offers additional reduction in NOx emissions.
