Background: Studies investigating strengths and limitations of group and individual supervision of university students are sparse. The aims of the present study were to investigate advantages and disadvantages of group and individual supervision, and to identify specific situations under which these two forms of supervision are particularly suitable. Method: A qualitative study comparing a combined group/individual supervision model with a complete group supervision model among third-year Bachelor psychology students. Results: Group and individual supervision contribute differently to the supervision process. Group supervision is preferred in the beginning of the supervision process when close ties between the group members are yet to be established and there is a process-oriented focus in the actual supervision. Individual supervision is more profitable at the end of the supervision course when content-focused supervision is needed. Discussion: Each supervisory model contributes differently to supervision. Based on the data from present study, a combined group/ individual supervision model is recommended.

Educational supervision can be carried out with individual supervision techniques and group supervision techniques. In the current situation, not all supervision techniques that are described below can be implemented by supervisors, but as material readings need to be offered as rasep can be chosen by each supervisor to be used in accordance with the existing circumstances.

The extraordinary and tragic conditions that humanity has not experienced before in the modern period have become ordinary, namely, a “new normal” with the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 has had frightening consequences for human health and has caused one million deaths as of September 2020. On the other hand, it has set a new standard of good habits, approaches, and benefits. Due to its global and long-term impact, this unique virus has laid the groundwork for unprecedented helping and sharing behaviors between people and countries. In this study, findings are compiled from the open-ended responses of 626 individuals, all of whom live in Turkey. Within the study’s scope, individuals were asked about the unique advantages and disadvantages of the restrictions imposed under COVID-19. While the categories of economy, social distance, and health came to the fore among the harms, the strengthening of family ties, adoption of technology, and the spread of solidarity culture were mentioned among the advantages.

ObjectiveTo explore lay understanding and perceptions of schizophrenia in university students.DesignQualitative study using semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis.SettingThe University of Birmingham, West Midlands.Participants20 UK home students of white British (n=5), Indian (n=5), Pakistani (n=5), African Caribbean (n=4) and dual white British and African Caribbean ethnicity (n=1).ResultsFindings revealed a lack of knowledge about schizophrenia, particularly the negative symptoms that were not mentioned. There were mixed ideas on the causes and sources of available help for schizophrenia; however, positively many said they would consult their general practitioner. While there was a general misconception among the students that schizophrenia caused multiple personalities and was a dangerous illness, there were some differences in perceptions and understanding between ethnic groups, with more Indian students perceiving upbringing as a causal factor in the development of the illness and more Pakistani students perceiving possession by a spirit as a cause.ConclusionsThe university students interviewed lacked knowledge about schizophrenia and stigma was widespread, both of which may delay help-seeking. Public health campaigns educating young people about schizophrenia are required to improve early identification and intervention and improve outcomes. Further research exploring ways to effectively tackle stigma is also required.

ABSTRACTSummer research placements are an effective training and research tool. Over three years, our group has hosted nine pre-university students over periods of four to six weeks. Apart from student training and skills acquisition, the placements have produced several peer-reviewed technical publications. Our approach relies on careful pre-planning of activities, frequent student interaction, coupled with independent and group learning. We explore the advantages and disadvantages of this manner of running summer placements.

Abstract — The supervision process is a series of activities carried out when conducting supervision. According to the Educational Management Expert Team (2004: 53) in general the supervision implementation process is carried out through three stages, namely planning, implementation and evaluation. Regulation of the Minister of National Education number 41 of 2007 regulates supervision learning process that includes monitoring and supervision. Based on these regulations the follow-up activities of academic supervision can be done by the school principal by providing examples, discussion, training, and consultation. The principal can choose the alternative follow-up activities mentioned above according to the analysis of the results of the academic supervision of the components mentioned above.Educational supervision can be carried out with individual supervision techniques and group supervision techniques. The article considers the phenomenon of gamification in education, studies various electronic resources creating educational quizzes, presents a comparative analysis of their advantages and disadvantages in order to teach foreign languages to University students. To prove the efficiency, the results of a comparative experiment of the use of electronic resources for creating quizzes are given.
