The article reveals the contents of pedagogical skills of the future music teachers in the process of vocal training based on the value-based attitude of would-be teachers to technologically oriented vocal and pedagogical activity, their technological knowledge and skills in the field of vocal performance and vocal pedagogics and psychology, abilities to use singing training techniques. Vocal and psychological training of would-be teachers of music is considered as a process of acquisition of vocal-technical and art and performance knowledge and skills, vocal and pedagogical skills, using the singing teaching techniques, in order to use them in the work with students, especially those with voice defects. The research methodology is based on the theoretical analysis of the existing approaches, techniques and methods of forming pedagogical competence of would-be vocal coaches. Based on the analysis, the authors systematize and combine different instruments (pedagogical and psychological) in order to increase the effectiveness of eliminating bleating in the process of vocal training. The vocal-pedagogical psychology is characterized as an integrative system combining task-oriented, step-by-step and algorithm-based pedagogical, psychological and vocal activities of a coach aimed at the improvement of the result of teaching singing with account of voice defects in order to use them in the work with middle-school and out-of-school education students especially in terms of working with bleating.

The present study examined relationships between golfers’ self-perceived emotions (e.g., irritability, nervousness, tension), task-oriented coping, perceived control, and performance during a golf competition. We implemented a process-oriented golf analysis in which competitors rated these variables hole-by-hole in a competitive golf round. Within a two-level Bayesian multivariate autoregressive model, we showed that (a) within persons, emotions and task-oriented coping were reactions that stemmed from performance on the previous hole; and (b) between persons, player skill level predicted both better scores and the ability to limit the influence of negative affect on performance. These findings highlight the complex nature of the relationship between emotions and performance. Future studies might use a similarly ecologically valid research design to more precisely measure aspects of time and potentially moderating effects of player skill level and personality. An increased understanding of the dynamic relationship between emotions and performance can promote the development of effective psychological interventions for optimal performance outcomes.

Development of self-efficacy scales allows the analysis of athletes’ perceptions and examination of the relationship between perception and performance. The aim of this paper was to: (1) develop a specific self-efficacy scale in a taekwondo task, the roundhouse kick, and (2) analyse the sport performance and its relationship with two self-efficacy scales (specific and general) outcomes according to the athletes’ gender.<strong> </strong>Forty-three taekwondo athletes (33 male and 10 female) participated in this study. The Physical (PSE) and Specific (RKSES) self-efficacy scales were administered. Performance data (impact force and total response time) were acquired by athletes kicking twice to an instrumented target. Results showed that the specific self-efficacy scale has high reliability and is able to predict sport performance in males and females. Males had higher self-efficacy scores and also higher performance results than females. Females’ taekwondo psychological training should be focus on improving their self-efficacy perception in order to increase their performance in the roundhouse kick. This specific self-efficacy scale for the taekwondo roundhouse kick offers empirical information to coaches, sport psychologists and researchers that allow them to predict athletes’ sport performance in the roundhouse kick.

Guidance and Counseling Teachers' Consultation (MGBK) is a community of teachers in the field of guidance and counseling. One of the main tasks of guidance and counseling teachers in schools is to guide students to become human beings with character as required by the National Education System Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the complete goals of national education. However, not all guidance and counseling teachers have the competence to guard this goal. For this reason, guidance and counseling teachers need to be given training, so that they have adequate knowledge and skills in carrying out their duties. This training aims to increase the knowledge and skills of guidance and counseling teachers in implementing prophetic guidance. Prophetic guidance is designed with the aim of strengthening the character of students. The training method used socratic dialogue. The participants of the activity were 30 representatives from 30 high school, vocational, and MA schools in Pringsewu Regency, Lampung. The results of the training showed that 74% of participants stated that they really got the benefits and new knowledge, even as many as 61% of participants stated that they had increased their confidence. Thus, this service activity has a significant impact on improving the competence and performance of teachers in providing guidance and counseling services.

AbstractThis article revisits critical explorations of the question whether popular songs should be regarded as poetry or not and will explore the concepts of poetry that inform these discussions, with a special focus on the importance critics place on the aspect of performance in their attempts to either distinguish between songs and poetry or to (re-)align them. It will be shown that whether critics stress the differences or the similarities between poetry and popular songs does not only rest on their respective ideas of poetry, but also on their disciplinary agenda. The importance of the aspect of performance in popular songs, it is argued, can be illustrated by their ‘coverability,’ which will be briefly illustrated with the help of an analysis of a recent example of a cover version where the lyrics stay the same as in the original, whereas the overall effect is radically changed due to a transformed musical and vocal performance.

In this study we analysed the differences in verbal behaviour of coaches during matches. A total of 9739 verbal behaviours issued by 26 male handball coaches in 26 matches, 1 for each coach, were classified into the categories established by the Coach Analysis and Intervention System (CAIS). These behaviours in turn were grouped according to the type of coping expressed by the coach (task-oriented, emotional positive and emotional negative). Coaches were then classified into high or low emotional intelligence, and high or low self-determined motivation, using the mean of these scores. Differences in verbal behaviour percentages were analysed by Chi-square based on coach membership in groups of emotional intelligence and self-determined motivation. Coaches with greater self-determined motivation and emotional intelligence used more verbal behaviours showing positive emotional coping. Results are discussed based on the impact on the health and performance of athletes, as well as possible interventions to improve the leadership of the coach in a match situation.

BackgroundAs emergency medical services (EMS) systems develop globally in resource-limited settings, equipping providers with paediatric training is essential. Low-fidelity simulation-based training is an effective modality for training healthcare workers, though limited data exist on the impact of such training programmes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the paediatric portion of a simulation-based curriculum for prehospital providers in Botswana.MethodsThis was a prospective cohort study of EMS providers from more populated regions of Botswana, who attended a 2-day training that included didactic lectures, hands-on skills stations and low-fidelity simulation training. We collected data on participant self-efficacy with paediatric knowledge and skills and performance on both written and simulation-based tests. Self-efficacy and test data were analysed, and qualitative course feedback was summarised.ResultsThirty-one EMS providers participated in the training. Median self-efficacy levels increased for 13/15 (87%) variables queried. The most notable improvements were observed in airway management, newborn resuscitation and weight estimation. Mean written test scores increased by 10.6%, while mean simulation test scores increased by 21.5% (p<0.0001). One hundred per cent of the participants rated the course as extremely useful or very useful.Discussion/ConclusionWe have demonstrated that a low-fidelity simulation-based training course based on a rigorous needs assessment may enhance short-term paediatric knowledge and skills for providers in a developing EMS system in a limited-resource setting. Future studies should focus on studying larger groups of learners in similar settings, especially with respect to the impact of educational programmes like these on real-world patient outcomes.

Leaders of task-oriented production groups play an important role in their group's functioning and performance. That role also evolves as groups mature and learn to work together more smoothly. The present study uses a functional analysis of the evolving role of supervisors of underground coal mining crews to evaluate the impact of supervisors' characteristics and behaviors on their crews' efficiency and safety, and makes recommendations for improving supervisory selection and training. Data were gathered from a sample of 138 supervisors at 13 underground coal mines. Detailed structured observations of the supervisors indicated that most of their time was spent attending to hardware and paperwork, while comparatively little time was spent on person to person “leadership”. The findings point out that while group needs changed over time, the supervisors' behaviors typically did not keep pace and probably restricted group performance.

PurposeThe present study explored the direct as well as indirect relationships between narcissism personality trait and performance. Two leadership styles (task oriented and authoritarian styles) were identified as possible mediators.Design/methodology/approachNarcissism was measured by using Narcissistic Personality Inventory (Ames et al., 2006), performance was measured by performance scale (Greene-Shortridge, 2008). Sinha's leadership scale (Sinha, 2008) was used to measure task-oriented and authoritarian leadership styles. 273 senior-level managers of a big public sector Indian organization participated in the study. SPSS 22 and SmartPLS 2.0 were used to analyze the data.FindingsCorrelation result shows that narcissism personality trait was positively related to authoritarian leadership style and negatively to task-oriented leadership style, task performance and teamwork dimensions of performance. Task-oriented leadership style mediated the relationship between narcissism and task performance and teamwork more than the authoritarian leadership style.Originality/valueThe study attempts to empirically test the behavioral manifestation of narcissism personality trait as positive or negative and has considered the whole measure of performance which has not been previously explored. Practical implications were also highlighted beside the theoretical concerns.
